When I saw the first batch of promotional materials for this movie, I had no clue at all what I should be expecting.  All the signs features those bright balloons and it all I could gather was that it involved a guy sending his house floating through the air with some little kid along for the adventure.  Now, the movie ended up being a whole lot more than that, but that bit of misinformation kept me from seeing the movie in theaters, an experience that most of my friends really enjoyed.  Now is your chance to catch this monumental film in the comfort of your own home!

Starting this November 10th, now available on Blu-ray Disc comes the latest adventure from Pixar and this just might be their most emotional and moving film to date.  Up – Blu-ray Disc is ready to come springing out of your television screen and fill your living room with hilarity and a large amount of poignant moments.  Bring this home in high definition today and that is one decision you will not regret in the least.

Carl Fredrickson was a balloon salesman his whole life, most of which he was married to the beautiful Elle, the wife he absolutely adored.  When she died and he was on the verge of losing their house, he attached thousands of balloons to it and set out to place it at the top of Paradise Falls in South America.  It was a dream he and Elle had and it was all he had left.  Except for Russell, the 8-year-old boy who was on his front porch when the house took off.  Now, with the help of Dug, the talking dog, and Kevin, the tall female bird, they must get the house to Paradise Falls and escape a completely unexpected enemy!  Will they make it before the helium runs out?

This Blu-ray Disc boxed set contains four discs.  I had to double check just to make sure I wasn’t miscounting, but no, it’s four whole discs.  The first is the Blu-ray of the film itself and it comes with an all-new short film about the further adventures of Dug, another short film, a look at the making of this movie, many alternate scenes and a whole lot more.  Then there’s another Blu-ray of more bonus features, including a multilayered geography game for Global Guardian, a deeper look into the backstory of Carl, eight brand new documentaries about things in the film and a whole lot more.  Then there’s a DVD of the movie and a downloadable digital copy for your portable media devices.  That’s just a ridiculous amount of bonus materials.

I had heard that this film was sad, but that doesn’t even begin to cover it.  I cried twice in the first ten minutes and cried another two times before the movie was finished.  That’s a whole lot of crying and it was all completely deserved.  Once again, I am moved beyond amazement by both the technical ability and the compassion and depth of the writing that Pixar has brought to the table.  This movie was heartwarming, funny, moving, touching, deeply sad and shiningly hopeful in ways the most live action movies cannot begin to comprehend.  Pixar is at the top of their game and it doesn’t look like they are going to be leaving any time soon.

This film might not cheer you Up, but it’s one of the best animated films of all time.

This Blu-ray Disc is available at Amazon.com.
