What terrible news, like you my heart goes out to Shaniya’s father and his family, his sincere act was reciprocated with pure evil. This story has broken my heart, why do this to a child, your own child?? 5 years old, i can’t, i never will, i don’t want to understand it.

My heart just sank to the floor when I heard the news. I have been following this case since she was reported missing. May little Shaniya sleep in peace, and may the Mother rot in Hell!!!!!!!! My heart goes out to the Dad. God be with him. My prayers were answered, but not the way I wanted them to. She was found, but not alive. My heart hurts.

Gah, I remember when I was a kid, the only thing we had to worry about was being home by dusk so we didn’t get grounded.

I pray to God they punish the mother and this sick perv who took the child to the hotel to the full extent of the law. Our children are our greatest resource whether we realize it or not. That “mother” to that beautiful child needs to be shot in the head.

I live in NC and saw also were LE were searching for another man in his 60’s and a blue toyota in relation to what happen to Shaniya. May God provide sheilds of protection to these innocent children who were his gifts to the world and are powerless.

My heart goes out to Mr. Bradley Lockhart. I know you tried to do right by your daughter by having her spend time with her mother. It is not your fault. You didn’t know Shaniya’s mother long enough to analygize her mind set. A moment of pleasure can be a life time of pain. You gave your daughter the best you had to offer. Her mother is responsible for her actions and the people she involved in your daughter’s short life. The punishment GOD has for her (them) no man can hold behind bars. God Bless you and your family. Normally I’m just a laid back middle aged “hippy chic”, but I’m just furious! Now here is another freak, I certainly won’t call her a Mother. That would be an insult to the rest of us Mom’s. We, the taxpayers are going to have to support another one. She’s going to be sitting around in her private jail cell living better than lots of others in this world who are good people.
We have to stop putting them in little comfortable private rooms to protect them. As much as I hate violence, I say put them in with the regular population. Let that situation play it’s self out. Who was protecting their victims?

My heart breaks for Shaniya as well as the other children who are lost, beaten, raped, abused, and murdered. Unfortunately this senario is not new. It has been repeated many times over through out the ages. I myself can bear first hand witness to the fact that there are parents, of both sexes, who sell or barter thier children sexually. My own father gained much prestige through-out his pedophilic “community” for sharing his children with his “friends”. He was highly regarded not only for allowing others to witness & participate in sexual activities with us but more so for the “training” we had recieved. It was considered a great testament to his prowess and abilities due to my willingness, “enthusiasm”, and ability to portray a suductress….at 5 or 6. This is REAL!!! I’m describing a situation that occured 35 yrs ago. These heinous acts are still occurring daily through out this and other countries still.
I’m not going to pretend I know the answers on how to stop this behavior. I honestly don’t. I just know that somehow, someway…it’s got to STOP! Newspaper articles across the country speak of mothers caught outside of convience stores selling thier children for a 6-pack of beer or some smokes, another mother video tapes and broadcasts over the internet the rape of her 4 yr old daughter by her 300+ pound father, mothers who look the other way as thier boyfriend/husband/family member abuses or rapes thier child(ren). I can’t really tell if it is happening more often or we’re just hearing about it more in this new age of technology. I’m unsure about whether these demonic people are killing more because they fear the stiffer penalties if caught or if it even is a factor. This I do know for sure, once made a victim of sexual abuse you become an easier target for future abusers.
I’m apologize if my comment has offended or triggered anyone. I just couldn’t contain my “secret” in light of this case and outcome. As soon as I heard that there had been a sighting at a motel with a man, I knew how it would end. May God bless and keep you, Shaniya, in his loving embrace.

Sidney Ford, of You Are Not Alone, or YANA, is part of Maryland’s Human Trafficking Task Force. She’s counseled women who have sold their own children into prostitution and said there are willing buyers in the Baltimore area.

“Right here in Baltimore, there are people who are willing to pay big bucks to have sex with children. (It) fuels the market for this really abhorrent practice,” Ford said.

“A woman saw an 11-year-old out on the corner. Her mother flew out of her house and said, ‘You need to make $500 tonight or I will beat your ass,’” Ford said.

It’s too late to save Shaniya, but those who advocate against human sex trafficking hope her story will shine light on the practice.

Ford adds that traffickers, including parents, often threaten kids or get them hooked on drugs or alcohol to make them less likely to run away or ask for help.

There is a national hotline set up for victims — that number is 1-888-373-7888.

Shaniya, I am so sorry that you were made to suffer in this way. My ONLY consolation is that your story will help to save and rescue other children who are being victimized as I type.

2 sentenced for sex trafficking

11/12/09 5:50 PM EST BALTIMORE — Federal prosecutors say two people have been sentenced to 10 years in prison for sex trafficking of minors in Maryland, New York and Washington, D.C.

Twenty-five-year-old Byron Thompson and 29-year-old Lea Bell, both of Reisterstown, were also ordered at sentencing Thursday to register as sex offenders.

According to court documents, Thompson and Bell recruited minors to engage in commercial sex acts.

They rented more 100 hotel rooms and recruited sex workers through friends, clubs, bars and the Internet. They posted ads on the Internet to attract sex customers.

From January to February 2009, Thompson and Bell prostituted two 15-year-old girls and one 17-year-old girl in Maryland.

As was mentioned earlier, there has to be a special place in hell for these offenders. As for Shaniyas birth mother, she has no right to walk the face of this earth. Solid slime, totally. God gives us babies to protect, nurture and love and not for the purpose of paying for drugs. What tears my heart out is the thought of that poor baby of five years old, who underwent rape and the torture that must have been for her. A five year old body is not big enough to accomodate a grown male sex organ and she must have suffered terribly during that act. That piece of dirt should not be allowed to even get to the court room before he suffers an excrutiating death, plus take her sorry excuse of a mother with him. Both of them stand so stoic as the charges are read to them, as if they only swatted a fly instead of killing a baby. That child was beautiful so we know there is another gorgeous angel in Gods heaven right now. Rest easy baby girl, justice will come someday. If not on this earth, in the hereafter.
