We will be running our regular Sunday exploration into the very strange case of Haleigh Cummings. I am sure that in certain circles our interest in this case is most unwelcome. Clearly someone knows something, yet the Investigators are coming up blank at the moment. We hope that in some small way we can change that.
Tomorrows panel will be Simon and Jan Barrett, ace reporter TJ Hart, Investigator William Cobra Staubs, and investigative journalist Levi Page.
We have a number of items to talk about this week. On the last program I brought up the subject of the Haleighbug Benefit Concert that Sam Watkins and his group put on in Austin, Texas. Sam and I have talked a couple of times this week. And even though I think the air has been cleared as to the how, what, and when, in an article that I published earlier, he has agreed to be a guest on the show. I think it is important to hear from Sam, and I am very much looking forward to talking to him.
Kim Picazio has reason to celebrate, this one-time attorney for Crystal Sheffield had been accused of professional misconduct while representing Crystal, the Florida Bar association has cleared her of any such actions. Of course, having a bunch of Foxes, clearing a Vixen of raiding the hen house does not look like a particularly great way of conducting investigations, but that is just my opinion! Her conflicting comments about Crystal and drugs still have me confused. I have not had time (yet) to investigate every avenue, but as I recall Picazio maintained a consistent ‘no drugs in Crystal, we have the drug test results’ policy until the bar complaint was filed. Oh, and several news organizations have requests in with the Florida Bar Association for the file, will it surface? Probably not.
We do know the identity of the anonymous ‘blogger’ mentioned in the complaint, and we are hoping that at some point the Blogger will talk to us about the allegations.
Actually, the events of the past few days have made me point my radar at the Sheffield side of the camp. While Misty Croslin and Ronald Cummings have taken much of the heat over the past several months, oh, and that heat was well deserved. But, you have to at some point take a step back and look at some other other avenues, unlikely though they may be. Crystals a bit of a strange person to understand. From the data I have it seems that she lost the custody battle for the children because she basically did not show up in court! While she claimed no knowledge of the hearing, the facts do not seem to bear witness to this. Some might argue that Crystal had a strong motive, actually 12,000 motives for Haleigh’s removal. Personally I don’t buy that one, and I am certain that PCSO do not either.
In my opinion there seems to be small yet telling statements that Crystal has made that leads me to believe that she really did not have much to do with Haleigh period. A great example of that was an interview with Nancy Grace. Crystal was asked what time Haleigh normally got home from school. She had no idea what time school got out, nor what time Haleigh got home. It is a small thing, yet in my mind a telling aspect of their relationship.
I had a conversation with a colleague earlier this week, the lack of progress recently is depressing. It would seem that without some significant breakthrough soon, Haleigh Cummings is destined to become a dusty file in some anonymous storage room. We do however believe that that missing jigsaw puzzle piece is already known, it is somewhere in the thousands of pages of documents and statements that the various agency’s have amassed. It his hiding in plain sight, but where?

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackThe breaking news about little Shaniya Davis is most disturbing. The five year old North Carolina girl was allegedly sold into sexual slavery by her mother. This is quite a new case as the girl has only been missing a few days. Has me thinking along those lines with Haleigh. People who do drugs can run up BIG debts. Selling off a little girl would no doubt bring in a good chunk of money. I am horrified and looking at all parties in the Haleigh case with renewed disgust and loathing at the thought of what may have happened.
Simon, stay on top of things, the Sheffields should have been investigated as strongly as Ron and Misty from the beginning. Something is up with this case involving the ones in power to make things happen. We have the last four missing childrens cases to use as reference points in the last month, big difference in LE’s actions.
Unless this case is a stranger stalked abduction, others have information as to what happened to Haleigh. Only does a stranger operate alone and not involve another soul in a crime, and even then, often times someone knows something about their crime.
I would like to see independent private investigators hired, not by family or LE. The answers are to be had, and it’s time.
Oh for the love of God- Did you know Ronald would not let Crystal talk to her kids when she did not have them? A phone call was just too much for him to bear- how about exploring the option of Parental alienation by Ronald?
Wow, everyone is so super smart!! Why would Crystal take HaLiegh, and hide her, and go from paying nothing, to paying for everything, including expensive medical care,and child support and on top of that, Ron is still accepting child support for HaLeigh- where is the outcry in that, is he putting it in a trust for HaLeigh, or is he buying smokes and beer with it? Knowing the child is missing and making the mother pay is gross, but lets keep pointing to Crystal and drinking the hater koolaid-

Crystal didn’t PAY child support before! Is she actually PAYING it now? If the roles were reversed you’d still be calling for Ron’s head on a platter - as a deadbeat Dad!
IMO Crystal’s side of the family - friends and acquaintances included - have had a free pass from the beginning. It’s time someone looked more closely just to be able to say truthfully that there has been a “full investigation” into Haleigh’s disappearance. Right now it looks to me like LE was incompetent, swayed or influenced away from that side of the family, and with your help and KP’s a full investigation was prevented.
Personally I do not believe that Crystal herself would have had anything to do with Haleigh’s disappearance. She has neither the brains nor the sobriety to carry it out. And I really doubt she would want harm to her child.
BUT someone on her side may have wanted Haleigh out of the way for a number of different reasons. It’s time that was looked into.
Viva, you seem to be a very concerned and caring individual. I appreciate that. What I don’t understand though is the amount of time and energy anyone from either camp spends defending these people. I could be wrong but it almost seems like you are speaking to defend Crystal Sheffield from LE themselves in your post here. Why? LE investigating her can also be to her benefit and it appears that has thus far. Right? She does not appear to be suspect at this time.
Forgive me but I do not understand the desire that some people have to take a side for either Parent when the Parents are not the ones needing our support. The focus is on finding a missing Child. Her name is Haleigh Cummings. I agree with you though in regards to the Parental alienation. Sadly that type of thing happens everyday as does drug use etc… Both Parents have their own faults to own up to and now more than ever is a time for come upperance for BOTH of her Parents and not for themselves but for their missing little girl. I do believe that LE has most likely been investigating BOTH sides of the family all along. As it should be.

I saw the Nancy Grace Show you mentioned in your article regarding Crystal not knowing when Haleigh got out of school. At the time, it immediately struck me as very odd! Actually, I found it hard to believe since Crystal would have visitation with Haleigh every other week-end (according to the media and TV interviews with Crystal).
Regardless of Crystal’s situation with Ron, I feel she, as a mother, should have known when Haleigh got out of school. If Haleigh could not tell her and Ron would not tell her, then as a concerned, caring mother, she should have called the school and found out. As a caring mother, I would even know the name of my child’s teacher and would have personally met with her! Just my opinion!

Simon, to be fair the only thing I saw wrong with the whole asking about bus stop thing with Crystal was Nancy asked her about that day. No one knows what time anything happened that day because of the shifting story. Granted she should have known from other days but if you watched the entire show that night it was really referring to the day in question.
I know Kim saying Crystal was clean back then is a clear lie once you read the bar letter but again Crystal was her client. That is what lawyers do, protect client.
Thank you Simon & Jan, through this whole 9 months it has shown me the ones that truly care for the core problem. Where is Haleigh? It is good to know that you both still are looking at this case the way we all should be, no side picking, no bias, only one focus point and that is Haleigh!

In regard to Crystal paying child support, I do not understand how $12,000 was not paid by her and it took a lady (supposedly) from Texas to pay the $12,000. I do not know what Florida law is re child support, but in Texas her wages would have been garnished. Also, if one does not pay and the custodial parent takes it to court, the judge will order the person (if physically and mentally able) to get a job and pay child support. If the person disregards the court order, the person is put in jail.
We all know Crystal was not working, therefore, there were no wages to garnish. Apparently, Ron did not file, with the court, for non child support from Crystal. So non payment was $12,000.
If I was ordered to pay child support, I would work however many jobs it would take to be in compliance with a court order but more importantly to provide support for my child. But then again……I am a law abiding, drug free citizen.
Oh for the love of God- Did you know Ronald would not let Crystal talk to her kids when she did not have them? A phone call was just too much for him to bear- how about exploring the option of Parental alienation by Ronald?

m2c, good post. Tuff, good questions. Exactly, it’s not about “defending” anyone. It’s about Haleigh, her defense? The adults in her life, Le, other players and now those on the internet look and talk everyway but about what leads to answers for Haleigh’s where abouts.
Why the “crying foul” everytime a post is made for a thorough investigation? Makes one wonder. I seriously don’t care about who is paying child support at the moment, or what the parents are doing with their money, they have to live just like the rest of us.

Star_Bright: How is any of that helping to find Haleigh? It’s not.
The more polarized people are pro and con Ron, Crystal and Misty, the muddier and more hidden the “facts” are and the less likely we (or LE) are able to find out things that might help find her.
Custody and who’s the better parent were appropriate topics before Haleigh went missing and will be again when she’s found (pray heaven).
Right now though it’s no help - unless it pertains to her disappearance in which case (to me) it looks bad for Crystal’s side. If you look at the “money” angle, Crystal had more to lose and gain. Again not that I think Crystal had anything to do with it but I do think it’s possible that someone she knows may have taken care of it.
I also think it’s possible that an SO took Haleigh and no member of the family knows about it.
None of this bashing has gotten us anywhere and it’s time we unite and demand that LE start all over again and be thorough and look EVERYWHERE and at EVERYONE - including individuals and groups they’ve “ruled out.”
Exactly m2c and others, it’s not about “Did ron let the children have talkie time on the phone with mommy”. Not to mention, these kids were too young for phone priviledges to begin with. Not saying though, that they weren’t able to handle something on the lines of “Hey Mama, love you mama”, but that’s about the extent of it. Phone priviledges are for slightly older children as appropriate. This is another sordid attempt to muddy up the conversation on the net. I’m seeing it everywhere, as I venture.
Activities of the parents, the situation is relevant, but these types of details are not significant in the hunt for Haleigh. LE in this case leaves much to be desired, putting it nicely. Hire independent investigators, and cut them loose, see what they dredge up.

Back to the focus on Haleigh
After talking with some private investigators, I wanted to hire one to go up there and find Haleigh.
I was told you can’t just have a private P.I. come walking into that town and wanting answers, this town has the “old Boys Club” were they do not want someone else coming around stirring the pot. They think they have it handled. They will make it all most impossible for an outsider to come in.
I guess Cobra is a good example.
Lawshrink, I’m sure that’s exactly right. It’s been that way from the beginning. And it makes me wonder if local LE is hiding something. Gives me the creeps. Like some stories on the old TV show Twilight Zone. Where the whole town knows something but won’t tell the outsider!
Once again, it is NOT working - just like hating isn’t helping. It’s time that LE opened up or started to do something significantly different or we’ll have to renew our efforts to have THEM investigated by an objective party at the state level.

Think about it though, every cop show we see on tv, lol PI’s face walls. That doesn’t deter them, that’s part of their jobs, to push and go where no one else will, or can. LE doesn’t own the city or county. They do have boundaries of law to follow that PI’s don’t. Which would be a plus. Not to mention, some people just hate or don’t trust LE, some for good reasons. Someone may know important information and be willing to talk to an investigator they trust or like, than LE or the family that they feel at odds with, or don’t care for.
No one says it will be easy, but it’s not illegal, and it’s done everyday in missing persons cases. Except this one, why? Cobra doesn’t count, hehehe and I’m not saying that as a put down towards him at all. LOL
I’m thinking some retired LE, experienced professionals, shoot, there’s a few internet posters I personally would hire I trust to dig in deep and find some information.
rumblings: I couldn’t care less. It’s just something else that has nothing to do with finding Haleigh (even IF it’s true).

What type of person is the less threatening type to get people to open up and if what they say to them would it be admissible in court?
you would need to corroborate information, especially if it definately leads to who is guilty of taking Haleigh, her whereabouts, and whether she’s alive or not. Then present it to LE. Private investigators can audio video tape interviews. Gather evidence found or given to them and hand it over to LE. At this point, I’ve really not seen LE do anything other than talk on the phone, answer emails.
They are the authorities, they have societies permission to push forward concerning a child. I think some LE agencies are so skeered of attornies their frozen. In Annie Le and Somers case, LE acted with the authority they have.

What I don’t get is this…These detectives can’t crack open this little teeny boppers mind and crawl in? Misty is just a young girl that these pros should be able to get to tell the truth. She flunked the poly and everything else they gave her, you know that she knows where the baby is. She knows and she was there when it happened and she is the one that held the door opened too. Torture her, take her cigarettes away till she gives. They must have something to hold her on, they got her brother and mother. Maybe they can hold her on over smoking….this surely has gone on long enough. I hope there is justice for Haleigh soon.
What I don’t get about LE is this: instead of waiting for Misty to tell them whatever it is, why don’t they use their little brains and figure out what she might tell them - ALL the possibilities - as in “I was here” or “I wasn’t here” and “so and so was here” and “I was too drugged to wake up” etc - then get off their arrogant asses and investigate, look for evidence, and interview witnesses for all those possibilities?
I don’t think they have done that and I don’t think they’ve really looked at the SO angle enough.
It looks to me like they are waiting for her to say “I did it” and take them to wherever she put the body. In which case I don’t know what LE thinks their paychecks are for.
cent: I agree. And if the actors are the people I think you mean (two in particular) then all we need from them is the truth as far as what they know about the case and the people involved. I’m not sure we’ve even heard that yet. Or not all of it anyway.
I think if the only thing left in finding out the truth here is to get out of Misty what she knows then LE doesn’t want to find the truth.
They either know it and don’t want it revealed or they know Misty is not the key. jmo

what bothers me about this case is the initial timeframe of that day! Did the A/C man give a deposition? saying the facts he viewed at the time of being at the trailor/home? Why was he allowed to enter the home w/out an adult. (do any of you allow a
“stranger repair man” enter your home w/out your supervision??)
Obviously, brother came over - pot smoking while kids outside riding bikes, etc. WHO ELSE WITNESSED outside activity?
Then Parent/adult came over to bring clean clothes?? What were the kids doing at this time? Were they fed, ready for bed? Misty was wearing?? Was she “stoned?” still? her demeanor?
Haleigh’s brother falls asleep in big bed? Every night pattern? and Haleigh in her bed? What had occurred the night before when Misty and Ron were fighting? Did Ron work? What was that day timeframe?? Did Misty vent to anyone re Ron’s anger
his way of dealing with her promiscuity over those few days with that guy/drugs, etc.
And was the back door purposely opened w/brick to stage an
abduction???
I have a hard time thinking that Misty would go partying with Haleigh and leave the little boy alone/asleep in that home.
ALSO.. was Junior awoken by Ron’s coming home and the hecticness? OR was he groggy - as if someone drugged him to stay asleep and quiet??
Behavior by this family needs to be put out on the table with facts… drugs, whatever… without worry.
Find what happened to Haleigh? Where’s the open opportunity?
AND is the reason those dogs were attracted to that dumpster because she was killed/placed there.. dumster dumped and replaced, but death smell still in the dumpster??
If anyone witnessed either of those children amongst the parties, the drugs, etc. and know that those children were given any drugs to put asleep,etc. needs to come forth.

These stories are useless in the search for Haleigh, and the people who write them are merely diverting the publics attention AWAY from Haleigh, and putting the focus on inane, moronic topics. It has gotten to be a side show. THESE STORIES ARE USELESS IN THE SEARCH FOR HALEIGH.

I am VERY interested in finding Haleigh. I, like most people interested scan the news everyday in the hopes she is found, alive. These articles HAVE NOT and DO NOT aid to that end. They are a waste of news space.

What I don’t understand is why noone wants to pick up on what Cobra has told us about Robbie Middleton? He is Chrystal’s highschool sweetheart, who has a brother connected with the Prosecutor’s office. If LE is dragging their feet about really pushing for a closure in this case, this could be the reason. I look at the differnce in Clay County and how, they are pleading for anyone to send tips, of any kind to help them, in Somer Thompson’s case. Then I look at the closed way Satsuma LE has habdled Haleigh’s case, I have to wonder. Why? Why do they act so secretive? Who are they covering for?
I am not one to think that LE isn’t doing all they can do, but I have to wonder about this one.
Clay County has 4,000 tips and begging for more. They say nothing is too small to report. Do we feel an open, honest invitation to suggest anything to Satsuma LE?
Excuse me, Curious? I am actually OUT THERE still seaching for Haleigh’s body. I hope to God we never find it. I am not sitting behind my computer pontificating who should be suspect, with NO evidence to support that ANYONE in Haleigh’s family (or friends) had ANYTHING to do with her disappearence. NOTHING is being gained by sitting around writing about who could possibly have done what to who and when. NONE of this crap aids in the search for Haleigh.
I think that asking for the tips are a way of covering their asses. I do believe that LE knows way more than they are letting on. And that there were, at some point, some serious digging and pursuit to solve the case. I have long felt that this case will end in embarrasment for the majority involved.
Especially those with hidden agendas

Regarding LE, and “Why do they act so secretive… who are they covering for?”
Guess what? LE keeps evidence and knowledge needed for a prosecution close to their vest. The ultimate goal for LE is a guilty verdict when their suspect finally goes to trial. They wear egg on their faces before the community in order to catch a criminal. They don’t blab around on blogs and tell what they know. Seems that many bloggers are so quick to condemn LE. LE works with the District Attorney to make certain that if and when they arrest a suspect, they won’t have the suspect set free later due to some half ass technicality. How many of you bloggers know anything about LE and their strict need to follow whatever the DA advises them to do?
You all should go to law school. You act as if LE is a bunch of idiots. Look for instance, at the Casey Anthony case. The DA held FBI evidence back for months. Way back in December 2008 they knew about the chloroform and the syringe. They kept quiet for a reason. Baez boasted that Casey was in jail at the time the body was dumped. The DA and LE held their mud. That is because they had the goods, and they knew it. Don’t ever conclude that just because YOU think a certain family, person, or circumstance should be investigated and apparently was NOT was due to LE stupidity, negligence, or a cover up. I know detectives who eat, sleep, and eat these cases. They are determined to find the killer. The general public has no fricken’ clue what they go through. Why don’t you give them the same benefit of a doubt that the criminals get?
My guess, and I am so sorry to say, is that just like in the Casey Anthony case, they aren’t appearing to investigate certain individuals because they have a pretty damn good idea what happened, and they aren’t going to waste time and taxpayer’s money chasing a rainbow.

Karen C - yes, Middleton should be looked at much more closely (IMO). I wonder if anyone has been told “not to go there”. You commented about the investigation being secretive and closed. On the program Cobra talked about (paraphrasing) some investigators possibly not having enough experience/training. Also, local LE in small communtities tend to know or be kin to many others and this provides a platform of bias. The combination of these issues make me wonder what information has been placed in the bottom of the file cabinet.
Cent - your comment about hidden agendas was interesting. Some hidden agendas serve to discredit people, manipulate others, and steer situations to meet the persons goal. What are the hidden agendas in this case? This may be a topic worth exploring.
I noticed a comment about “chasing a rainbow.” Interesting word choice. IMO, Haleigh is the pot of gold at the end of this rainbow. However, it appears that some don’t want to chase the rainbow. Maybe for them along with the gold are several big piles of do-do.
So many people have been hurt looking for Haleigh. So much fear. So many rings of influence. So much politics. So many hidden agendas. So many seperate crimes. So many influences from high and low places. Where do the rings overlap? Where do the personal networks on all sides join? Who has fear of exposure and how does this connect? I wish I knew the answer. Maybe the answer starts with Ron, Misty, and Crystal but it appears to end with something much bigger. (IMVHO)
iaanne: I have the most respect for people who go out searching. It’s something that not all of us can do for one reason or another. But there is no point in arguing that YOUR way of finding Haleigh is better than what we do. I think both are needed.
I mean you have to admit it’s going to take you a while to cover Florida’s 65,758 square miles . And then where will you go? There are 49 more states and lots of foreign countries. Meanwhile Haleigh’s name and photo are NOT being publicized nationally in relation to your searches - at least as far as I’ve seen. So as helpful as searching is (are you checking hotels and homes too in case she’s alive?) it isn’t the only answer.
I think there should be room for that and for us to read and write and discuss aspects of this case and the people involved so we might learn something -maybe learn something that will send searchers like you in the right direction. And we’re also here to keep pressure on LE at all levels in Florida so that Haleigh is not forgotten. Good luck with your efforts - seriously - and I hope you have the class and intelligence to wish us the same in return.

About the Middleton angle: That’s a piece of information that should immediately and easily be resolved with three little letters - DNA. Surely LE had the brains to keep Haleigh’s toothbrush or something? Then get Crystal’s and Ron’s DNA - presumably they would be more than willing to help - and voila! Haleigh is or is not Ron’s.
Then it might be a little stickier problem to find out who her real daddy is if Middleton wouldn’t agree to a test. But at least there would be one answer.
And that answer - if Ron is not the Dad - opens up at least three or more MOTIVES and scenarios.
So, a brand new week and PCSO already has something they can actually DO to try to find Haleigh. Let’s see if they do it.

There is absolutley no comparison between the way Orange County handled Caylee’s case and how Putnam has handled HaLeigh’s case.
Orange county knew Casey was lying from the getgo and was inconsistent in her “story”. OCSO did not allow that to deter them from moving forward in the case. They did not go around for months on end chanting “Casey is the key”. They played the hand they were dealt and moved around Casey and her lies to solve the case.
On the other hand, PCSO has non stop blamed the fact that an uneducated, unsophisticated, 17 year old has stumped the top minds of LE and prevented them from moving forward on this case.
The failings started from the beginning. Dragging evidence out of the home onto the ramp which could also have had evidential value.
They did not remove the door that was blocked open and take it for forensic testing.
They did not investigate and follow up on phone records.
They did not thoroughly investigate and question EVERYBODY that was at the MH that day.
They did not thoroughly investigate and question ALL family members on the maternal side of the family even though statistics show that most child abductions are by non-custodial family.
They did not thoroughly investigate the possibility that the perp was a predator based on the fact a light was turned on in the kitchen. I guess they did not remember the Smart case.
They did not give LDT to ALL members of the family and friends when everybody was still in town and available.
They searched a dumpster like gang-busters with little concern about preserving the integrity of any evidence they might find.
They did not question and investigate in depth family members even though they knew they were leaving town. I guess they figured it was OK for LE to go on mini-vacations to question people at the TAX PAYERS EXPENSE.
I could go on and on as anybody that has followed this case could.

hangnon - I agree! And there are a couple of people who disappeared very quickly (a Joe and a Chad?) who LE supposedly “cleared.”
And, although they supposedly looked at the local trash FOUR days later they did not look at the actual landfill where remains could have been dumped that very night (at least as far as I know).
The list goes on and on. I can only think of three reasons for their behavior then and now:
1) incompetence (2) jumping to a conclusion and putting blinders on right away to maintain that tunnel vision (3) powerful influence from someone (who could be behind the scenes, in the criminal world, or someone in state or local politics or other public position with secrets to hide).
I am very happy to open this page today and read the article. For so long, I had hoped people would begin to see, what I had stumbled into so many months ago. And there is so much more. The actual Motive’s are so much more than just the Money owed. There is fear of Jail, Jealousy, Anger, Control, a Twisted concept that was provoking.
So much more.. All setting there waiting for people to trip on, but people so busy with the whirl of activities they couldn’t see the Forest for the Trees…
Tit4Tat - I understand your position and truly do respect LE generally speaking. However they are a group of individuals who can make honest mistakes, are subject to pressures of various sorts, etc. We cannot blindly “trust” them.
It would actually be wrong to do so. Then the checks and balances of our system would be out of whack. It would lead to more of a “police state” in which the police cannot be questioned.

IF PCSO has all the answers and is waiting for that one bit of the puzzle to fall into place, then fine! I’ll be the first to congratulate them when they find Haleigh and arrest the right person. It’s their choice to play it like this and that’s okay too. But they cannot blame the public for asking questions and doubting. It’s perfectly understandable.

I am very disappointed in the way LE has handled this case. I think their silence has done nothing but hurt HaLeigh. She deserves much more then what she has been given without a doubt.
There is absolutely no evidence that HaLeigh is no longer alive. That being the case, why hasn’t LE gone public and begged for help from the public, from media, from everybody, to keep HaLeigh’s name and face out there.
You know it took us nearly a month and a call to the Governors office to get PCSO to update HaLeigh’s Missing Child Poster to include her birthmarks? They took the time to track down “bloggers” who were fighting to get the poster updated, and PSCO called them, but could not pick up the phone and call FDLE and request the poster be updated. I have to ask WHY would they not want the birthmarks included as IMPORTANT info on HaLeigh’s missing poster?

Unless Tit4Tat you work for the PCSO (Which I think would be against policy to blog on a case you were working on) You cannot speak for the PCSO. I know of outstanding L.E. that are 100% by the book then I also know of the “GOOD OLD BOY’S Club “which don’t go by the book at all and are dictated by money.
So, I am glad you speak out for them but no L.E. is without fault.

I called a L. E. Bloodhound tracking unit in our county. They stated “they would have never used sheets the fabric does not hold scent well and if MC stated she just washed them it would have the least scent of anything in the house. I was told by the family there were 2 dogs in a truck at the MH that both Ron and Ms Neves kept asking why LE was not releasing them. They were finally told by LE that they were brining in “better” dogs from Jax. Ron got upset saying that it would take another hour or more for the dogs to get there from Jax and demanding that the 2 dogs in the truck be released. To their knowledge they never were.

I would like answers to the why’s listed. Too many why’s in this case, as we have other missing childrens cases to compare, Shaniyas and Somers, what a world of difference in the hunt for the missing when you compare how LE acts.

Kool Look - The LAST thing PCSO would do is act on a tip from a blogger. THey hate us because we keep asking them questions and questioning their investigation.
LE looked at Mondex because of a letter that one of Misty’s friends wrote someone while she was in jail. I forget the names. But some bloggers think that LE got the wrong Mondex area and the wrong pond.
They searched the Mondex pond based on an “alleged” tip from a friend of Nay Nay’s baby’s father. He also “allegedly” signed a sworn affidavit to the information.
The info written in the letter by Nay Nay to both her baby’s daddy and her mother, was information given to her by LE that they had “allegedly” received that info from that person.
I have my doubts that there is indeed such a sworn statement since it turned out to be false and the man has never been charged with giving false information to LE.
Remember people can not lie to LE BUT LE can lie to people.

hangnon - Thank you for straightening me out on that Mondex story. It was so convoluted. And I still think the “tip” on the Mondex pond was false or tainted or misunderstood somehow. Maybe LE rigged it so they’d have an excuse to search there (either to look like they were doing something OR because they had some reason to think Haleigh was there) but it was the wrong place anyway.
I go over and over in my mind everyday on what happened to this beautiful little girl, Haleigh. I do not know who is responsible for her disappearance. I do agree with Spydee 0025 that there have been alot of people hurt in this search for Haleigh. I do know there are those that want journalist, bloggers and media to stop digging into this case. My question is why? Haleigh deserves JUSTICE and we will not Stop until she gets it!!!!!!!!!
iaane, these stories actually do aide in looking for Haleigh. It paints a picture of Haleighs enviroment and the role of each and everyone of these players. They do keep Haleighs disappearance in the news. I do commend you though for actively searching for Haleigh, but what leads you to believe it is her body?
According to LE there is evidence and they say Misty is the key! The only thing I do not understand is why not use the girls testament that she saw Misty that night Haleigh went missing snorting oxycontins at Misty and Rons friends house. Granted she was there to purchase drugs herself, but use it as leverage. They arrested the wrong guy the first time around just off someone saying they saw him drive off with Shaniya, but it was in fact a different guy who admitted kidnapping Shaniya but as of Friday Shaniyas where abouts were still unknown. Here you have no child recovery, but you have an arrest that may lead you to it.
m2c — the person that LE says gave them the tip has been accused of trying to get money illegally, I can’t remember the exact charge but something like an extortion type deal.
If he did give LE that tip it may have been an attempt on his part to get the reward money. Just a thought and I have no info that it is true or not.

I will tell everyone here that according to Satsuma citizens Misty has come back to town. They do not know where she is staying at, but they have seen her.
Anyone besides L.E. Searching needs to be very careful not to unintentionally destroy evidence.

Good day, busy cleaning and have to bake for sons school tommorrow to give baked prizes to parents who come to learning classes after work this week.
I hear ya’ll about the mondex search, I was aware of those details, but still strangely I think LE has an inkling maybe a family member has Haleigh, that would be the only thing that makes sense. Rememeber Nicholas Fransico’s missing case, LE backed off quick, got quiet even from family members? Just in the last two weeks he has now officially been reported alive and had ran off to live a new life.
We know Haleigh didn’t do this, too young, but LE’s behavior has me wondering what they know. Misty says she was at home and asleep when Haleigh went missing. No one, even LE or the public can refute those words.
Take it from there, and start the investigation. Children go missing in the night with their adult loved ones in the same room, we have too many awful cases to prove it so.
I thought Misty had to return after a couple of weeks because of a hearing to cancel the restraining order against her brother? (I put a question mark there because I’m not sure).
Also, does anyone remember a story that went around - that I missed most of - concerning someone on Crystal’s side of the family actually hiding a child for a while in a custody dispute?

Lawshrink if you like possible conspiracy theories, I remember watching Gale St Johns video after she had gone to Satsuma. While I am not a big fan of hers she did have a TES volunteer on the video who gave some good insight to the areas they had searched and about the truck tire track they found out in the middle of the woods.
BUT what struck me was Gale said while in Satsuma she had met Crystal, Crystals Dad and her uncle. Gale goes on to say that both Crystals dad and uncle worked for LE previously running the bloodhounds for the jails.

Even though the details of the families should not matter to us, The on lookers, They should be very important to You, Investigators, and LE. It is amazing to me the lengths that everyday people will go to to spread hatred on the internet and other media sources. Very, very few actually care about a missing little girl. I agree that LE dropped the ball in the first 12 hours of their investigation. Had Haleigh succumber to, at the hands of some ped, that somehow got in to that mobile home, and tok her.. it is clear that LE missed the boat with sontaminating the crime scene, from the blankets all the way down to the bak door. Also, their so called investigation at the landfill was a sad attemt to rule out the possibility that some murderous pig, dumped her at the actual landfill, or in a dumpster that she may have been put into, in the early hours between 3AM on the monday, till sometime on that tuesday, where is it said, that there were dumpster pick ups that day…on accopunt that we know LE went to the dump to ONLY chek the incoming trucks (not the landfill itself) on Feb 14, it is a travesty that clearly Haleigh could have been missted.
I agree that there is no evidence that Haleigh is not longer with us, unfortunately, the statictics say, that had she have been taken by a S.O, they are lucky to live for 3 hours. LE dropped the ball and stalled because they believe Misty holds the key (only because there was no forced entry, thus no “physical evidence”.)
We know from many other cases, that kids have been taken this way, by strangers with the same circumstances, yet LE failed to have an open mind and consider this. Now they are in a pickle, as it is becoming clear, that if Misty knew anything more, evidence wud have spewed out shortly after they were investigating. Now it appears that LE are happy, letting the general public hold Misty accountable so to justify their mack of resolve for this innocent little girl.
I believe that the outside interference by the likes of PI’s dirty lawyers and shoody reporters looking for a story hich=$$$$$$) it has only influened ppl like Psycho Joe to try and tell LE what they want to hear, but only for selfserving reasons of hoping to be
dealt with lightly, and giving LE the lip service that they are WAITING for…
I believe that pond was cheked on account of LE interrogating Psycho Joe’s. They may have asked him what he thought happened that night, and he told them what he figured… I think LE wud have to chek out Joé’s theory, especially when they had nothing else to go on.
As far as I am concerned LE has put themselves in the position that they have to appear to be working the case, and are continuing to work off the circus, as they have ruined and lowered the chnaces of using proper forensics on account of their narrow minded opinion if what they thought, when they opened the investigation.
The Caylee Anthony case had been fresh in everyone’s and LE (like the general public) were likley to become desensitized by that case where they knew the “missing child” was not a stranger abduction and the information was clearly being witheld. LE in Haleigh’s case let that case dictate and rule their path to investigate.They followed on that pretense which was so wrong. Hat’s off to LE in Caylee’s case! Thats said, there were no similiarities, in the disapearance and LE found out lies form Casey, within the first 2 minutes Unlike Misty…. It was not the same at all and they had no business treating it the same.
I dont think it is too late though.. I also think that LE must have some DNA or prints as they were able to rule out all the RSO in that area.. How cud they do this uness they have some physical evidence from something (shirt? cinderblock, bed???)
Again though, they dropped the ball with Chad Reynolds the RSO.. LE gave a statement on Feb 14 that they had talked too, and ruled out all the 44 RSO in the area, yet they hadnt talked to Chad, and he was infact “missing” and unaccounted for since Feb 3. LE still says that although they wud like to talk to him, he is missing and prolly dead, yet they still feel he is unconnected to the case.. How can they say this unless they have something to compare it too?…
I think the “tip” that was brought in to the newspaper where it was claimed to be from a retired FBI agent, was prolly from a blogger who is involved in reading about this case, where they formed their own idea of where they thought Haleigh may be… This is an example of how influencial this case has been to the general public.. Look at what Tim Miller did?? Going against his better judgment by using donars money to facilitate a sting operation involving Misty…. So stupid..
It seems like LE has left themselves with no leads, and teya re prolly forced to have to look to the net for ideas where to search of who to talk too….

What if L.E. has known from the start MC did not have a clue what happened to Haleigh? In addition, told her so, but asked her if it would be ok to use her as a cover for who they are really after?

Like maybe, they(who took Haleigh) would put their guard down and slip up on something thinking they were cleared when really they never were cleared. Therefore, L.E. could watch them.

Lawshrink I think you may have part of that right. I do believe that LE knew from the start that Misty was at home and was sleeping and knows nothing. They gave her at least 2 LDT and maybe 3. You know the question “Did you leave the home that night” had to be on the LDT. If she showed deception on that question, LE would have went off in a different direction on this case. They would have focused on who would have known Misty was not home.
The question, “Did you hurt HaLeigh” also had to be on the LDT. If she showed deception on that question, LE would have been all over her like white on rice, like LE was on Smith when she did not pass her LDT. LE would have been on her so hard she would have confessed, just like Smith did.
The question “Do you know who took HaLeigh” had to be on the LDT. If she showed deception on that question, LE would have been all over her, her family, her friends, until they got the answers to who had HaLeigh.
So while I do think LE has used Misty as a scapegoat, for whatever reason, I do not believe that Misty or the family know anything about it being a “plan” by LE.

LE is using Misty as a Scapegoat because they screwed up the investigation from the get go. They have no leads, they have nothing because they won’t get off their butts and go look elsewhere. They won’t jump that fence. Yes, The Crystal fence.

I do agree with LE having a pretty good idea that Misty told them the truth from the very start. They wud have had to consider her, but as time went by where no ppl came forward, and no evidence led them to her, it prolly became obvious that she didnt lie, but LE are so stumped and have nothing to go off, they use her as a “suspicious subject” to try and take the heat off their department.
I think that LE wud have enough sense that if a person called them at 3 in the morning and said they had been alseep, (when they had nevr gone to sleep that night) that LE wud be able to tell pretty easily that she had been infact sleeping…
You cant make yourself look like you were alseep when you werent..
Also, if there was any evidence of parting (booze or drugs) LE wud have asked her if she had been drinking that night.. It wud have been in the write up of the police report..something like that wud ot have been overlooked, based on the reported crime..
Also, I do think LE uses ppl as their scapegoat, for different reasons including the one you are suggesting.
I dont however, think they do it with the persons consent or knowledge…
It appears LE is happy with ppl believing Misty holds the key….

1.) It is working… no one is demanding anything different from LE about this case, as too busy looking into Mistys life and frineds for 9 lomg months and getting nothing…..
Also, about LDT, I do think that LE also use the results selectivley…..
To start with LDT are proven so inaccurate, and unreliabel, they cant be used in court.. Thats speaks volumes…. We have seen many ppl report that they were told by LE that they passed where it gets later reported in the media that they failed the test… I believe LE does this as a tactic to hope that (if their suspicions are correct) ..the person will give in because they feel like they have been caught.
Wow, great posts. To clarify, the supposed fbi elderly man, claimed to be a previous “FBI Informant” with supposed special gifts. It was and did get confusing as it was being reported, and easy to confuse or misunderstand this elder man’s claims. Personally, opinion only, I believe like another here mentioned, he was an internet poster/reader maybe familiar with the area and gave that tip through a messenger.
However, I’m all for tips, buttt I hope LE did better on checking this dude and his messenger out thoroughly, and I just have a weak stomach when I think about the thoroughness, ugh! Was impressed with the Watts editor/reporter who was given the tip in how he handled it through and through.
Good theory “Tired of the Misty Fest”, I am keeping an open mind, but everyday more and more Misty looks innocent in my eyes. There ain’t no way this young girl has fooled everyone, kept quiet, left the home, cleaned up perfectly, all without a ride or phone usage while tending to Jr. who hasn’t implicated Misty.
Le knows it, that’s why they don’t bother Misty. That’s why when she went in the Saturday before taking off with “Undercover Mama Donna Brock”, she willingly without request entered sheriffs office and spoke with them for another “impromptu interview”.
I can say this, Misty cried, cried and cried hard on those interviews in the first weeks of Haleighs disappearance. Those weren’t fake tears. That girl was almost un-consolable in the interview with her mom Lisa wearing the white circled hoody jacket.
When she looked at TJ during the voice analysis taped test, she was genuinely crying when she declared “I don’t know what you want from me, I’m 17 years old, how much can a girl take”? We know we haven’t been given near the correct facts from LE, nor have they been revealed even from the players with information their aware of and have known since the beginning.
Ex: impromptu interview at the airport with Misty on her way to the Morning Show the next morn, she finally spoke up for herself to the public by declaring, “That weekend was a lie”. Meaning the internet/crystal generated allegations that Misty was on a three day weekend drug/sex induced bender. The only source that many can only find to verify this supposed 3 day bender first came to light from Crystal Sheffield herself in her interview with Nancy or either art harris. Crystal claims it was told to her by Nay Nay and Amber Brooks, who we have now learned all three knew each other and hung around on occassion prior to Haleigh missing. Interesting to say the least, eh? If anyone can dispute this, please confirm, I will gladly stand corrected, and will apologize.
Lawshrink, I can’t count the times I’ve wondered quietly if that is exactly what LE is doing, with and without Misty’s consent possibly as being the public “key” to Haleigh’s disappearance in efforts to catch the real guilty ones. Hopefully one day we will find out. Great posts Darling.
Concerning Chad Griffis’ arrest records, their all public, I’ve been searching for the ones pertinent to the discussion of other children, child support and hiding/keeping of a child possibly either his own or another family members, but not able to locate yet. I vaguely remember the details, so until I can post responsibly, I will just say issues on this subject til I can find what I’m looking for. Also not sure what kind of involvement, as I’ve forgotten, sorry.

I believe LE are happy with the general public hating her as they use her as an excuse as to why they have no answers in this case, and as far as I am concerned, are HAPPY to sit on their butts while they know that the media and the ppl on the net have all fried her…
Im not sure if you read one of my earlier posts (between Sep and now when I started posting) but I did a little investigation myself and found in talking to LE media relations, it was explained to me how the landfill was checked…
Incase you didnt see my post, I will explain that they told me that they were at the landfill not until Sat Feb 14. They did not look in the landfil, however they waited for all the truck to do the pick ups (which dod not include dumpsters) and cheked every truck before the garbage was put in the landfill…
They told me the garbage pick up is on a 4 day schedule which wud mean the garbage that wud havwe accumulated between Tuesday Feb 11 till Saturday….This did not include checking the dumpsters as their pick ups are worked out on a schedule with the waste company and schedules are done according how fast the dumpster is filled… Some pick ups are every day if it is ata busy location while others are weekly and some biweekly…
I was sick when I heard that!!!!!!!! Lets face it .. if Hailey met with some sicko (like the way Jessica Lunsford did when Couey took her out of her bed) it wud be unlikely that she lived very long. As much as I hate to say this, it cud be real… and statistically, these victims are ususally killed in the first 3 hours… Using that well known statistic, it is plausible that Haleigh cud have been disposed and discarded either directly in the landfill well before the sun came out on Feb 11. Or, if she was put in a dumpster and picked up by a truck anywhere between Tues and Fri, they wud have missed her, just the same. This complete investigation was handled so poorly, it makes me ill… while LE sit bak and see all the hate against …
Great posts, Fed up, Kool Look, m2c, Lawshrink, paws and all! Finally, I can see light at the end of the tunnel. I see people coming together for the right cause and justice for Haleigh.
It’s so important for all of us to try to move past all the smoke screens and just look at the facts. Kinda hard when so much other is out there, blocking our view of the real truth. I think everyone is on the right track now and moving forward and past the BS.
It’s great to read everyone’s different opinions so that we can put the pieces of this puzzle together, and there are SO many pieces missing at this point; but each post brings new ideas that we may not have thought of before, helping us to see this situation better..helping us see all the sides and not get stuck on just one.
I’ve got to say that dumpster has always been an issue for me. Is it a fact that THREE cadavar dogs hit on that dumpster? Isn’t that what was reported? I can see maybe one dog making a “mistake”, but not three. So maybe, as bad as I hate to think it, Haleigh was placed in that dumpster for a short time until moved. Maybe she was taken to the landfill from a different location. After all these months, it would be very difficult, but not impossible, to find her remains, if this were the case.
In my heart, I want to believe she is alive and being taken care of, but the reality is it just doesn’t seem she could go undetected for so many months. Not with all her health issues. How I wish this were the case!
Something was deceased in that dumpster. Hasn’t it been said many times that cadavar dogs only hit on bodies and not regular garbage? Especially three dogs. So if it wasn’t Haleigh that was placed in that dumpster, who else could it have been? That dumpster has definitely always been an issue for me, and the landfill situation has also. So many tons of trash/garbage are placed in landfills and imagine 10 months of it. UGH! But not impossible; just a pretty dang big job to go thru it all. I do wish they’d take a closer look at this scenario.
I’ve enjoyed reading all your posts; very informative. Every new post brings back something I maybe had forgotten early on. So a big thanks to all who have joined forces here to concentrate on the facts and throw the junk out. Lawshrink, what a great addition to this blog you are! I knew of someone with the same username that was very helpful on another site awhile back, but they disappeared and we were all lost, lol! Fed up, I think I’ve seen you before also, and you were always very passionate about the cases and clearly doing your homework overtime. Kudos to all!

I have been so disturbed about this! We hear over and over how 4000 leads have come in and been cheked up on…. It amazes me that LE cud drain a pond, on account of what some known criminal wud allege while looking for a “get out of jail free card ” yet ignore 3 cadavers..
It is my understanding that although cadavers are soooooo keene, they can get mixed up with medical waste, sanitary stuff, and thats about it.. They say that a diaper doesnt fall into that category. They can tell the diff between a diaper and decomposition. As clever as these dogs are, like you said..for one to hit…ok maybe questionable, 2…hmmmmmm? but 3 ????????
I wud like to know what usual things are in that dumpster… Is it by a medical facility/drug store, maybe hospital, funeral home…..If this dumpster is typical to carry normal trash, household stuff… then I believe the dogs were right….
I have been on this bandwagon since we knew of the hit that occured on Feb 27. Just over 2 wks later… I wud like to know the Feb 2008 schedule of when that dumpster was emptied. If that dumpster was not emptied, in the big pick up, search Feb 14 where the trucks met LE, (only too chek the contents of the trucks not the landfill itself), then I cant see any good reason it isnt being cheked…
I personally think Haleigh was taken by a ped and then killed and thrown away like trash. It is plausible that this is the MO of that type of monster… I doubt very much that if she wud have been moved, if she had ever been put in there.. Historically these perps, dont take much time or effort to conceal or cover their tracks…
Fair, your kind words are valued and I cudnt agree with you more.. looks like we are heading in a different direction and not being blinded by all the side shows… also, you are right.. I am very passionate about this case as well as many over the years… I pray for justice for Haleigh.
There was a crime in 2002, where where LE actually went to a landfill 7 months later and in that horrible mess, they unearthed Jennifer Blagg. The LE work in that case was phenominal..they actually used their skills by looking at the obvious place she wud be. Hats off to them! Unfortunately, they never found the remains of her little girl name Abby, whos remains are suspected to be in there somewhere, but finding Jennifer was enough to convict the perp who was the father, and husband. May he rot in hell. The book is Dark Side of Mesa.
