The often vilified former pro-bono attorney for the biological mother of 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings who was abducted from her Satsuma, FL home in February is walking away this week with some sense of vindication.
The Florida Bar Association has dismissed the complaints against attorney Kim Picazio alleged by Crystal Sheffield The Florida Bar File No. 2010-50,286 (171)
In the complaint, Crystal Sheffield alleged that:
“…Ms. Picazio violated Rule 4-1.6 by disclosing confidential information concerning her representation of Crystal related to the search and investigation of her missing child, Haleigh Cummings. Crystal also contend that Ms. Picazio did not act with diligence in filing a modification of he child support. Ms. Picazio responded to the allegations in the complaint and rebuttal with specific denials of each allegation and a detailed history of her involvement in the case.”
One of Picazio’s rebuttals to the complaint was rather harmful to Crystal Sheffield and the perception some may have of her:
“…Ms. Picazio also contends that your current living situation, health concerns, inability to work, and drug addiction/seizures prevented her from filing a petition for a change in custody. All lawyers, as officers of the court, have an obligation to refrain from filing frivolous pleadings or papers, and may.be subject tocourt-imposed sanctions for having done so, This.is an area that falls within the exercise of professional judgment by the lawyer, and is not appropriate as a reason for discipline to be imposed.”
In this 97.3 The Sky exclusive podcast interview, attorney Kim Picazio blames a blogger for spreading falsehoods over the internet and worming her way into the confidence of Marie Griffis and Crystal Sheffield.
Picazio tells The Sky she advised Crystal Sheffield and Marie Griffis against the now controversial Sam Watkins Concert and wanted Pay-Pal links and wording on the Haleighbug Center website that asked for donations to be removed.
Some of the more volatile claims Picazio made in the interview suggested that the blogger-in-question was also involved as a moderator for a Haleigh Cummings forum that was operated by a high risk sex offender.
Picazio did not refer to the blogger by name.
Haleigh Cummings is described as a now 6 year old white female. She is approximately 3′0, 39 lbs, blonde hair & brown eyes. Unknown clothing description.
Haleigh was last seen at her residence in the Hermit’s Cove area of Putnam County on February 9, 2009 between the hours of 8-10pm.
A statewide Amber Alert has been issued. An additional $30,000 in rewards have been posted.

I kind of hope that Picazio refers to the blogger-in-question by name in a lawsuit! LOL! I’m serious. What that person did (or maybe more people too) and the trouble it caused should be against the law (if it isn’t already).

m2,most of us know who the blogger is she is talking about. She is a distant cousin of Ron’s with the same last name(maiden) and has caused problems for the Cummings since she inserted herself into this case many months, ago. First she was up Kim’s butt and when they had a falling out she moved to Marie’s butt.
Didnt Ksue make friends with Picazio and others on that side? I realize its a long shot to think it could be someone from here but I wonder?!!

I hear ya. Cobra said him and Kim were going to sue, so maybe people will think twice before doing something like this again.
C - I think you are right. A lady from Texas paid what Crystal owed at that time - $12,000.
But apparently Picazio did not do anything to “modify” the child support - meaning stop the continuing payments for Haleigh while she is missing. At least I think that’s what the statement in the article means.

It SHOULD be. Maybe it depends on the terms of his release or something. If she goes after him or sicks LE on him that will be great!

KP wasn’t talking about Hobbit being the blogger. She said the trouble making blogger was a Mod on Hobbit’s website.

Thank you TJ, for the article. I suppose this is not surprising to most people. However, it does confirm what some folks have suspected all along. I too feel so sorry for the family members of Haleigh, who are truly mourning her absence. I pray Haleigh is alive, and some honest soul will come forward with the truth of where Haleigh may be located.
How does Crystal’s alleged drug use prevent the attorney from filing to modify the child support?
tara, I wondered about that too. But think back to all that was going on then. Think how it would look if KP suddenly filed for a reduction in child custody payments because Haleigh was missing.
It’s possible that the public would not have thought very highly of Crystal for that. The tide of public opinion could go against her.
Reporters surely would have asked KP, “Why haven’t you filed for custody of the children at the same time?” etc.
A huge part of KPs job back then was to preserve a good public image for Crystal and it looks to me that KP succeeded. It’s just a shame that by doing so she had to perpetrate a lie (but that was her job as Crystal’s lawyer).
Jan, I so agree with everything you have said.
I had already ran across all of this info months and months ago.. And there is so much more, to question. Crystal and Misty have both basically walked in the same shoes, and to be very honest not unlike Ambers.
All have been into the world at such a young age, both have had experiences far beyond the average teenages we see today. All three have had parental situations that were adverse.
And you are right, Ron is not the druggy, and there are documents.. When people bring up some of Ronalds issues with drugs and LE, there is a little bit more info that has never been released.. Which links to Crystal..
So many things are not as they seem, and you are so correct about fingers being pointed, while those who point are building their Ivory Towers to set upon. When all of the truth comes out. It will put people on their butts, with shock and dismay.. I still stand on two comments in the court documents for the child custody, and the documents do run from 2005 - 2007.. Only two ledgeable comments.
1. Well, I get phone calls from Putnam everyday about Ron and the Kids.
2. Everytime I went to Ron’s house to see the kids, they always block me in, I think they are afraid I’m going to kidnap the kids.
Hopefully sooner, rather than later, LE will stop relying on Misty being their scapegoat as to why they are just sitting bak, and Haleigh will come home..
