I have been trying my best to keep as many of the missing children in the news as I possibly can so you can imagine how happy I was to see one the children I keep naming will be added on the front cover of the popular People’s Magazine along with five other missing children.
Adji Desir has been missing since January 10, 2009 and no one even hears his name in the news anymore. According to naplesnews.com the cover with the title “Vanished without a Trace†will feature the list of missing children from this year. They claim it was inspired by the Jaycee Dugard case that was missing for 18 years and finally found after all this time.
Adji Desir was 6 years old when he disappeared while visiting with his grandmother in Farm Workers Village in Immokalee, Fla. while his mother was at work. Around 5:15 that evening he went outside to play with some friends and while playing with friends he disappeared before they realized it. There are no witnesses whatsoever as to what happened to him. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt with thin yellow stripes, blue shorts with pink flamingos going down the sides and grey and black sneakers. Adji is also developmentally disabled and has the functions on a level of a 2 year old and can only speak about five words of English. He does recognize his name though when it is called out.
He is described at the time he disappeared as being a black male and 3 ft tall and weighing only 45 lbs. He has black hair and brown eyes. He had a birthday on October 15 and this child should have been home celebrating it with his family. My heart goes out to his family. I can only imagine what hell they have been going through not knowing where he is or what happened to him.
Adji’s photo is also being featured on national direct mail advertising fliers that are being delivered to 75 million homes across America from November 8 through December 13.
Anyone that knows anything at all concerning Adji’s whereabouts PLEASE call the Collier County Sheriff’s Office at (239) 793-9300 or if you want to make an anonymous call you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). You can also visit www.colliersheriff.org.
Keeping this child’s name in print could possibly bring attention to someone that might see him just like keeping the others that are missing in print as well. It certainly can’t hurt so once again I ask you all to join me in saying a prayer for all these children, some not with us any longer and some that are out there lost somewhere. We need to get them home. Some on the list include Caylee Anthony, Adji Desir, Haleigh Cummings, Somer Thompson, Elizabeth Olten, Masaraha Ross, Alex Mercado and Rebecca Marie Allen, Sandra Cantu and Shaniya Nicole Davis. And there are others as well. My prayers are with them all. God bless them all and all of you as well.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackThank you Jan, for your constant efforts in reporting on crimes against children, and those whom are lost. I know it isn’t an easy task, but definately, a worth while effort.
Children such as Adji Desir, have not recieved the media publicity they so rightly deserve. I believe, through your efforts, some have taken notice, and are follwing suite. I am so happy to see Adji, and other missing children, on the cover of Peoples Magazine! This is truly wonderful news! The majority of the population will never know a child is missing unless they read or hear about them in the news, or see their story aired in the media.
between the mailings and the magazine cover, i can only imagine the hope adji’s family must have now. i pray someone recognizes adji and reports that fact to the authorities.
jan thank you for the update. if you find out any more details on the mailings and inserts, please post it for us. i read the mailings would start out in the east. i was wondering when the rest of the country would be seeing them.
“…Northeast on Nov. 8. They are scheduled to arrive in Florida mailboxes the week of Nov. 15.” By ELYSA BATISTA Updated Thursday, October 15, 2009

Not understanding the inclusion of Caylee, Elizabeth, Alex, and Sandra as they have all been recovered deceased and their attackers arrested.
Thank you Jan.
Dee – just because we have found these kids doesn’t mean we should forget about them. I pray for my grandpa every night and he has been gone for 4 years.
I have been blowing up People magazines email with requests to get Haleigh on the cover. I was so happy to see People take a break from “Will their marriage survive….” and have something important on the cover. I wish they had included Haleigh, I still hold out hope for a happy ending with her. But just coverage on missing children is great and gives me hope we can get a grip on this.
Jan, I live here in Collier County and Adji has been very dear to the whole counties heart. 2 My sisters and 2 Brother-in-Laws work for LE, their taskforce is on this everyday still trying to find leads. I saw this coming out in the People Magazine, I also called and asked about Haleigh, and if she was going to be in there, they said the family did not return the phone calls. Our Prayers are with every missing child in this world, to please bring them home safe.
Thank-You! I’m glad to see they will put these onn their cover! I pray all the lost find some peace & justice.
Oh, Lawshrink!—On HaLeigh:
“they said the family did not return the phone calls.”
Because they don’t want her to be recognized anywhere because she has been taken to another state?
We can only hope.
You know what, even despite the fact that Walmart cannot put Haleighs picture up because the family has not signed the release to do so, and people magazine can’t put her in their magazine because the family won’t return their calls. I am (as I speak) printing out 25,000 flyers of her missing poster and I am going to post them in every wayside, Truck stop, fast food restaurant , Back of moving trains, busses and Long haul trucks till the day they find her!!
Someone has to be there to fight for her return. Seeing how her family is not.
Lawshrink – you are amazing since Haleigh’s family wont thank you I will. I keep Caylee and Haleigh’s picture on a poster next to my bed and I always think, Caylee we wont let you down and Haleigh we are not giving up and will find you. Printing flyers is a great idea and I will do something too.I wish I had the money to hire people and go looking for her myself.
I have been in contact now with several places up in Puntnam county to find a place to have a benefit concert and dance and guess what, I seem to do really well, and then when they ask me what it is for all sorts of problems crop up for them. This really makes me wonder what is up in this county.
Season is coming down here and there will be more than 74.2 million people will be down here to visit.
Now is the time to really start passing out Flyers and letting people know we have two children who are missing from this state that need their help.
Hey you know what, I think I will have the concert / Dance / for missing Adji too.
Adji Desir is an angel, its very unfotunate whatever befell him. My heart aches for him and his family when I read about him. I always pray for closure for his family. Theres just so much left to the mind when it remains unknown, so much pain, heartache, madness, all of it. I pray for Adji constantly in hopes something will surface. God bless Adji and his family.
Jan, when you mention the missing and the deceased children, please add Nevaea to your list. There have been so many other lost children since then that I have trouble remembering her last name. Seems that it may have been Campbell??.Did they ever arrest whoever buried her in concrete beside the river? Thank You
Sorry;; I mispelled Nevaeh’s name
Lawshrink,
Are you saying both sides of the family didn’t want Haleigh’s photo and info included in People? I have the same question also for the Walmart release? TIA
Jan, thank you for the well written blog and it has made my day to see Adji on the cover as well as the oh so many others who are gone or harmed by those that are supposed to care love and nurture them. Each time it happens another piece of my heart breaks and the tears flow in total disbelief at the cruelty of it all. angel blessings Sass
I’m wondering when they pulled the Amber Alert from Wal-Mart. I saw one for Haleigh in April at my local wally. I saw the one at Publix for Haleigh & Adji just yesterday. Am I mistaking the Haleigh info that was discussed above?
Rendition for criminals is the only way to handle this issue. Why do we place terror suspects in rendition and torture programs, but not sex offenders…and other serious violent criminals??? It is time that we start some kind of secret police squad that goes after the terrorists that you and I will likely encounter on the streets everyday and night of our lives. It will not be Osama bin Laden who you or your family will be victims of, most likely, it will be a violent street criminal, a serial killer or killers, or sex offenders, some of which…are all…one in the same. We need to rid our society of these individuals, secretly lock them up on secluded islands somewhere, use torture techniques to get useful information from them about their crimes, as well, we need to employ forced lie detector tests, etc, in that cause. Sadly, this is the only way that we can maintain society…as the revolving door of the failed prison system and the monitoring of those who are parolled, is not working. BTW, I am a liberal, and I am not a religious person, rather…spiritual. We must protect the innocent at all costs–as being PC…when it comes to crime and punishment, isn’t working. I would gladly join a government sponsored rendition program designed to track-down and remove such violent criminals from our society, and permanently–under lock and key!!! The laws, the courts, prosecutors, judges, jails, prisons, parol boards, and hospitals for the criminally insane, have all systematically failed us. Enough of this madness, is enough!!!!! To justice for the victims…and their families–and to a peaceful society, once and for all!!!! God Bless those who deserve Blessings, and may these victims come home some day, and be avenged–Amen.
