It was the usual interesting 90 minutes. Our panel consisted of Simon and Jan Barrett, TJ Hart, and William Cobra Stuabs. Denny Griffin was unable to be with us, however in his place we had fellow Blog Talk Radio host Levi Page. Levi has been following both the Haleigh Cummings and Caylee Anthony cases, and it was interesting to get a new perspective on them.
We started off on the Caylee Anthony case, late last week the prosecution released another huge dump of documents. Some people are even speculating this in this release is a speck of pure gold that will seal Casey Anthony’s fate. A syringe with traces of chloroform in it. The other interesting document is from an insect specialist, who claims that Coffin flies were found both in the truck of Casey’s car and also at the location where the remains were found.
On the Haleigh Cummings story it was a relatively slow week with little of any substance directly pertaining to the search being released.
On the periphery though there was still lots to talk about. The internet has been awash with allegations that one of the several Haleigh forums is in fact being run by a man who is a convicted child molester. The claims are that in the early 1990’s he raped two girls under the age of 14.
There is also a good deal of speculation doing the rounds about the so called benefit concert held in Austin, Texas. The proceeds of which were supposed to go to Tim Miller’s Equusearch group, Levi Page has been doing some investigating and revealed on air that he has spoken with TES and they have received no money whatsoever from this event. Clearly tickets were sold, although how many is a huge unknown. One set of rumors has it that sales were far less than anticipated, and after costs there was nothing left to donate. This scenario makes for a certain amount sense, while the Haleigh Cumming story has garnered nation and even international attention, holding a cencert in Austin is akin to holding a fund-raiser for your local small town High School Marching Band three states away! Why didn’t the band hold this benefit in Gainsville, Jacksonville, or Ocala, where the Haleigh story is so much better known?
Misty Croslin’s uncle Tommy managed to get himself arrested over a drug issue, and Ruby Kanger’s legal problems continue on in Kentucky.
It appears thet Ronald Cummings via his lawyer has retained at least one private investigator. I guess Ron himself is too busy chasing exotic dancers to be out searching for his missing daughter!

Therefore, Even if they made only five buck on this concert if the funds are not used for what the nonprofit mission statement then they are in breach of corporation law.
I truly believe when someone gives with their heart monies to find Haleigh that they want that monies to find Haleigh.
If they are all legitimate no harm no foul. I would not think anyone would have a problem showing them if they were true and honest and fair bookkeeping.
I don’t know what to think anymore…about anyone. I am sickened that a S/O was running HFH. I don’t know who I can trust. (Not counting Simon and Jan). I truly just stand for Haleigh…now. No sides, …just Haleigh.

It does seem odd that Crystal & Marie would come to Texas for a fundraiser for Haleigh. I like the analogy you used Simon (re high school band.
I am from Texas and not one radio or TV station promoted this Haleigh Benefit concert. I am an hour from Austin and even closer to Bastrop. Friends in Bastrop (where the concert was held) told me they did not know anything about it.
Maybe the coffers have run dry in Florida for anything Haleigh related by the Sheffield or Cummings’ families.
There have been numerous successful fundraisers for Somer Thompson in the Clay County, Florida area. None were held in Texas!
There are many missing children in Texas. To my knowledge, no fundraiser has been held in Florida for a missing Texas child!

Curious, how about you mind your own business. T.J. started with a good heart, and now it is turning into tabloid trash. What does a rinky dinky little band and a concert have to do with finding Haleigh? Absolutely nothing! Speculation about this concert have people calling organizations and harressment of these organizations using BNN and T.J. Harts name.
Accountability is the LAW - Ms or Mr Liberty.
And it applies to so-called non-profit associations like HBC.
Unfortunately in other recent cases - like the murder of Caylee Anthony - some existing so-called not for profits moved in and started getting money AND the so-called “grieving” grandparents have founded one on the blood of their murdered grandhild (murdered by her mother).
So yes! We are a little concerned about these not for profits popping up in murdered and missing children’s cases. It is a legitimate concern whether it leads directly to finding Haleigh or not.
What do you suggest. We stand there and yell Haleigh all day long and let that be the sum total of our concern or effort to find her or at least keep her from being USED for profit?

I don’t think so Liberty. TJ is a great guy and trying very hard to find out info to lead to HaLeigh. Simon wrote the article. I call bullsh*t on any organizations being harrassed. Here’s an easy solution, show the public how much money was raised and where it went. Honesty’s the best policy. I know, it’ a scary word for some.

Also for those of you that are saying the video was just a practice run, go to http://ow.ly/vUIl and click on videos to the left of the page and you will find I think 10 different video’s of the band playing that night. They are standing on the same platform and the same sign hanging in front of it saying “Let’s Bring Haleigh Home”.
I am no expert but I still believe after watching these videos this was the so called concert. There is just something about this concert that bothers me., but you all can judge for yourself.

Is he doing this for the awareness of missing children or for the band? I would have to say for both. The concert did not make any money,expenses exceeded profit. Do you know who contacted Watkins to do a concert for haleighbug? Think of a total lunatic that at the beginning that inserted themselves into Haleighbug.

Looking for Haleigh and asking for accountability of donated funds are not mutually exclusive. Both are appropriate. Why do you insist on one or the other? That kind of attitude just makes people more suspiciou.

So, As you look at the records please tell me why you think it is so wrong for me to ask where the monies of the concert went?
The monies was for the Search for Haleigh!! That was spelled out very clearly.
The amount of the monies is not important to me,
Bringing Haleigh home is.
In addition, I want them to keep searching.

The info on Texas EquuSearch site supports what was said.
I think might be another case of the ‘press types’ jumping the gun with the article posted on the 7th.
It appears Levi had the info before the podcast, I don’t know maybe the info from EquuSearch was not good enough to stop the speculation in the article.

Ok, I’ve seen the video of the band and let me just say What expenses? Was it travel expenses for Crystal & co? If so, they spent the money foolishly. Crystal did NOT have to attend this function. Like I said before, I think it was just a ploy to get to go to Texas. What specific reason, I don’t know.

Lawshrink, i thought I heard the money was specifically being set aside in a bank account and would be paid out on the retrieval of haleigh (whether dead or alive) to the tipster whos tip brought about the find. So if the expenses of the concert exceeded the revenues then I would say your generous donation just bought that bands new sound,stage and light equiptment. I’d pissed if I were you. Your money just bought or rented their new strobe lights and “shiny” mirror ball !!!
a single microphone can be anywhere from 80-200 dollars, sound equipment is expensive. One sound Stack can be $400- 1000. Yes there is expense alright!

Sam Watkins was supposed to do ONE other benefit for a missing child. Bianca Lozano. On May 29, 2009, Sam Watkins announced that the concert was canceled after working over 1000 hours on it. (At the mother’s request, is my understanding). They had to return donation money.
On June 17, 2009 Sam Watkins announced:
“We will no longer help missing childrens families directly, we will be sending 10% directly to organizations instead. We truly believe in this cause and will be supportive in helping to recover these children. Because of our experience, we are more than willing to give advice and support to anyone with a missing child, but no money transactions will ever be conducted unless through an organziation. We are sorry to those of you that truly need and want our help but because of recent events it is best for us to do things this way. However, Sam and Fate Train are still willing to perform at any missing child benefit and/or event for free; be we will not coordinate anything.”

Why is there such a discrepancy between blogs for Caylee and blogs for Haleigh? To be specific: No one on this blog is talking much about finding Haleigh. It’s obvious that a concert held in Texas is not going to bring out the Floridians that feel close to Haleigh because she is a citizen of their state. Having a concert in Austin is pure BS. The video is a complete joke. The singer sucks. Poor Haleigh. She’s grown up in a neighborhood of uneducated druggies. She never had a chance.
Sure are a lot of perverts in Florida. The Florida state tourism board is going to have to do a lot of damage control. Right now I read a lot of posts from hicks.

Hi, Pinkey! Just to clarify - I just meant that for me - one issue was to find out how much the benefit took in and where it went (expenses or donated to charitable organizations A, B and C for example).
And the other issue for me is when that’s known then I can discuss whether I think one of the organizations is deserving of it or not. Or generally what I think about an organization.
So my interest in an accounting of the concert funds is completely separate from my opinion of TM (or HBC or any org that may have been a beneficiary).
What I donated might have gone to the cost of, More than 4 plane ticket, 4 days, and nights stay in the best hotel and lobster dinners every night.
But the price to find Haleigh PRICELESS.
