<description>"Following The Footstep Of Goose That Lay A Golden Egg"

It is easy for us to criticism counterfeit drug manufacturers but must know this problem would have not happened without the help of our politicians and the medical professionals.

During my tenure as a doctor in the last thirty years, I have seen small pharmaceutical companies thrive and became multinationals. Our politicians cast by the spell of financial success, treating them as the rulers of our universe. I have seen the senior management team of this corporation treated like kings where ever they went.

In UK, the government insisted and rewarded the doctors working in NHS prescribed medicine by generic name to save cost. I have also been subjected to investigation because I started complaining about the danger of allowing nurses to prescribe antibiotics in UK.

The chemists in UK also used the opportunity and so rushed to India &#38; Pakistan and started importing cheap drugs and so became rich overnight.

In 1980s, I was let down by a major corporation manufacturing devices because one of my device designed to ease technique and reduce wasted device could in theory destroy their domination in the market. My device was not designed to generate cash but mainly because I found it difficult to perform a procedure and also noticed an association with spreading MRSA infections in the neonates. I passionately believed in reducing contaminated hospital waste in the community is an essential to stop these bacteria spreading in the community but the corporations were only worried about the shareholders investment.

The commercialisation of healthcare has now ended in tragedy. Unfortunately we are back to the pre-antibiotic era, all because the greedy healthcare providers and major corporations killed the goose that laid the golden eggs. The sadness of this story is we are next in line to follow the footstep of these geese.</description>
