I agree with Paddy Briggs that "The poppies seem to appear ever earlier on the dress of public figures..."

Whilst one naturally has a proper respect for the work of the British Legion I do feel that a 3 week period is in danger of being counter-productive. With the exception of Christian Aid week, I know of no other major charity that has a 3 week flag day.

On the broader question of a new approach to Remembrance Day,there are,of course, a number of other Service Charities. Perhaps a way could be found to also include them. Although smaller than the BL; they all do a very important work.

While I agree we need to find a way to remember in a way that will encourage a new generation to recognise 'ALL' the sacrifices, I don't think we should forget what happened 90+ years ago. Indeed I think the tragedy is that too many people already have. My children know nothing of the conflicts which shaped our nation and our people. To paraphrase a quote by military historian, Lt Col (retd) Chris Pugsley - "if we don't understand how our men found themselves here and still went on then we can't understand ourselves, and we will make those mistakes again."

very sad indeed. Come on America, wake up! It's time to honor our veterans! My dad was one of them. I bet you all have some to honor on this day? No, well, you are in the USA & It's time to realize, this is an American made land!
