A few months ago, I was spending some time with my sister, just sitting around and watching classic television on WGN America.  In my opinion, that is the best channel out there for viewing those sometimes regrettable television shows that were a huge part of our collective past.  So, in the course of watching television, we talked about all of our favorites.  I prefer both shows Face was in, along with Farrah Fawcett’s show, Lee Major’s show and a whole lot of other ones.  Then my sister said that she had never seen this show.  Can you believe it?  Well, now you have the chance to since the fifth season is ready for you to bring home on DVD today!

Starting this October 6th, now available on DVD from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment comes the hilarious fifth season of one of those television shows that has had such a huge impact on our culture at large.  The Mary Tyler Moore Show – The Complete Fifth Season is ready to come tumbling out of your television screen and fill your living room with all sorts of fun and great hilarity.  Bring it home today and relive the great memories this show brings with it.

The fifth season of this Emmy award winning show is now ready to be in your house all of the time.  WJM-TV is still the place to be, even though stuff gets pretty crazy some times.  Mary keeps having trouble on a personal level, but she is also now trying to be one of the producers at WJM.  She even has a run-in with some police officers.  Lou moves in by Mary and Ted even starts a rumor that he and Mary are dating.  But it’s all good and it’s all hilarious, so bring it home on DVD today!

As far as special features go, this is a pretty disappointing collection.  There are English and Spanish subtitles and that is it.  This show was a benchmark in entertainment and really made the situational comedy genre popular for a whole new generation of people and this is all they can come up with?  That’s a shockingly poor selection.

The reason that I can’t believe my sister has never watching this show is because it’s absolutely everywhere.  To be fair, I do live in the Twin Cities, so I walk past the statue of the end of the intro sequence pretty often.  Nonetheless, I didn’t know it was possible to be a person who watches television and to not have ever seen this show.  It’s on all of the time and for good reason.  It’s a hilarious show and it’s also just a whole lot of fun.  I’ve never been able to decide whether I like Ted or Lou the most, but they are both so great it doesn’t really matter.  This show comes from back before there were multi-episodic story arcs, so you can jump in at any time and know right what’s going on.  Normally, I would say that hurts a show, but this one’s just too much fun to ever complain about.

Let this great Show take you back!
