cent, I think you are right that he and other family members and ALL parents and family of children to whom awful things have happened have blamed themselves - whether it’s at all realistic or not. An example: Mom and kids are driving to the grocery and get in a car accident. One child is injured or killed. Mom blames herself for deciding to go to the store that day! It’s natural I think.
I’ve always thought that some of Ron’s comments are due to (1) his “neanderthal”/too-many-B-action-movies mentality and (2) simply not knowing what to say!
I believe the “Only God can judge me” comment came when he was under attack by many in the public accusing him of either actually harming Haleigh or in some other way being responsible (like shacking up with Ditzy and leaving the kids in her care).
We (meaning bloggers) take comments and make huge mountains out of them and read meaning where there may be no more than the simplest OR no meaning really. And we do that with everyone. It’s awful.

Maybe he has lost hope!! I’m sure all kinds of emotions are running through him and the rest of the family. I still go back to some of his statements “only God can judge me”…
“I’ll believe she’s alive till someone shows me her body”… “Don’t know I was at work”!!

They all have said some crazy stuff… I just think perhaps he feels he is to blame (indirectly).

Maybe because it’s been 8 months and he’s beginning to give up hope? IMO his divorcing Ditzy may mean that he does not think she had anything to do with it OR that he’s given up on getting any info out of her.
I’m sure they would have divorced soon enough anyway. He never wanted to marry her. It was one of those “shotgun” weddings - not in the traditional sense of the gal being preggers but because he would have been arrested for statutory rape if he hadn’t.

Why aren’t the authorities looking more at Ron ? I understand he has a record as long as my arm. He certainly isn’t a saint. Isn’t having sex with an underage girl a crime, he likes them young ?
His Mom works as a dispatcher for the Sherriffs office there. Is there a cover up ?

Hmmm,
I posted links to an Art Harris article, a Sky 97.3 article, a Nancy Grace transcript, and a BNN article that all stated that Tommy came by the trailer in the 10 O’clock hour. That post disappeared. I would love a link to where Tommy nails down the time to 9:45.
The “whip the brat or put in a movie” article can be found on Art Harris as well and is quoted from a co worker who stated he overheard that conversation weeks before HaLeigh went missing. The same co worker also described conversations that he had overheard where Ronald was on the phone with HaLeigh and was syrupy sweet.
I always post what I believe to be facts, and I can provide links to substantiate these facts. If I am postulating I always state when something is merely my own thought or theory.

Hope this helps your confusion a bit. The alleged “just whip the brat” conversation Ronald had with Misty occured weeks before Haleigh went missing. The alleged arguement the night she went missing was about Misty wanting to babysit for some children other than Ronalds.
Tommy never stated a definitive time that he went to the Green Lane trailor, he said it was in the 10 O’clock Hour- which is anytime after 10 PM but before 11 PM.

Linda, Last night in my posting I was just trying to show how quickly people come to their conclusions/judge. That’s all.

Most of it is because I’m angry about the 8+ months on Haleigh and how LE jump right onto Misty and haven’t moved on really. I understand that it’s because of her being inconsistant. But looking at other avenues at the same time wouldn’t hurt either. They have lost 8+ months of valuable time due to this. It’s just a lot of anger built up is all.

Agree with Toughenough - it could be a SO who took Haleigh. I heard a discussion on another news channel who said that very seldom does a perp enter a home at random without leaving some kind of evidence, fingerprints or some fibers etc. Of course if it was a planned abduction, the perp would be a lot more careful to have everything needed to steal the child.

Another fact, psychics are often mentioned. Most police departments do not use them altho if it was my missing child, I would try anything. Ron said recently that several psychics had been there with no results. I thought on Maury that both Teresa and Ron looked very good (much better than we have seen them) and answered questions well. People who have not read about this case nor have seen the Cummings before should be impressed. I don’t have any idea what happened to Haleigh but I have always thought both Teresa and Ron really loved this child. I am sure, almost, that Teresa has helped raise this child.

After 8+ months, I’m to the point in this case that LE needs to put up or shut up about Misty and Ron. And move on. Media needs to stop with the side shows period. It’s not helping anything. I read somewhere about a trailer next to rons where no one was living, and ron thought he saw a light on? Does anyone remember? Also the dogs hit on dumpster? Well they were saying there was a house that no one was living in on the little girls way home that just went missing! And where did they find her body? In the trash? It was just a few days ago that i read this on one of the sites somewhere here on a BNN SITE! These devils have found a way to do away with theses babies bodies, just wait for the trash trucks to run! Once in a landfil with tons of trash on them very hard to detect also hear Orango Park is not from where Haleigh lived! Do you think the same monsiter got Haleigh? I pray not!

Just wondering…yes that is the vague answer I got at the SO yesterday. No urgency at all. I sent an email to the SO as well yesterday (the new link that was provided)no reply yet. I also have not heard back from the PPD-also left them a VM yesterday . My child does not know if the kid was involved with the actual robbery or if he just somehow ended up with the cell phone. Last night he also told me the school sport he plays & the # on his jersey. Other than that he does not know his name. He is older than my child as well. Also the apt. complex where this took place is known for violence & drugs. In my heart, I feel my child’s story is in fact connected to the missing phone/purse. And I guess I will have to literally chase LE down & make them listen to me. As I have said before-it may not be nothing at all, but as a mom I have to follow my gut instincts. Time is always of the essence. The phone may already be gone by now. Sold on the street for drug money.

This is how Most Sexual Predators work:
1) They get the “urge” and start looking for a victim.
2) They look for someone who looks like easy prey.
A) Walks alone
B) Very friendly to people in general, Children who look at passers by
C) Longer hair easy to grab and control a child by there hair.
D) Small in stature
E) Mostly low in social wealth
3) They will “case” a home / area
A) What time people are in what rooms
B) How often you lock your doors
C) Where each person sleeps it the house by when they leave one room and then when a light goes on in another room
D) Time the go to sleep
E) What type of locks you have on your doors. They can find a Key alike by the model number and style.
F) Often times when people change locks they throughout the box in the garbage, anyone who gets that box can get a key made to fit that lock .
G) The watch traffic to see when there is less
H) They watch the victim to see their personality, what they where (special children with favorite Disney characters’ they were on their clothing)
4) They watch the caregivers and how they act toward a child.
A) Do they allow a child to play alone un supervised
B) Do they allow a child to walk to store, school, and friend’s house by themselves?
C) Do they make sure a child is dressed well
D) The life style and parenting skills are the questionable.
5) They are know not bothering with “come and see the puppies I have” They are now just, what is called “snatch and grab” they pull a car alongside a child jump out cover their mouth with rag, and throw them in the car, and take off. This makes it very hard for parents to help children stay safe because they don’t have a chances.
In addition, I just wanted to add, they love to watch the aftermath that to them is just as good as the child abduction. When they can see how much they have hurt even more people they are in their glory.

It was Misty’s Dad who got her a new cell phone and sim card,I think somebody asked that awhile back..

the focus on misty and ronald is about the timeline. the police have to look at family, freinds, neighbors, anyone in haleigh’s life, plus all s.o. in the area. well anyone in ronald’s, crystal’s and misty’s lives too. i wish they felt that they had gotten a more credible description of that night’s events. it could have helped them narrow down the possiblities. but, even if they did get all the facts of that night, and it was a stranger abduction, isn’t it alot about luck? we need to change the luck part! give us more of a chance against the predators.

what a blessing that sandra cantu’s body was found. she needed to come home to her family. what a fluke finding her in that pond. plus a reporter persued the suitcase issue. but, since sandra was found, it helped catch her killer (hopefully it’s the woman behind bars), and sandra’s killer won’t be able to hurt anymore children.

i am so glad somer is being returned to her family. boy the police need to be thanked for what they did in finding her. i am praying there is evidence to lead to her killer.

who can even imagine taking a human being with the intention of killing them? how does anyone get to that place?

i wish there was a simple one or two page fact sheet with tips on how to keep children safe. do schools or doctors hand out anything like that to parents?

i also wish there was a simple fact sheet about sex predators. to educate us all. maybe it could include information on how many there are in are communities and some brief facts on the impact on people who are abused. we could pass the sheet out to all we know. ask them to share it with everyone they know. maybe it could be a way to bring the issue more to the front of everyone’s awareness. we could e-mail the fact sheet, and print up sheet, sometimes having something in your hand to sit there for when they have time to read it, could be good. maybe put on the fact sheet to please copy and share with everyone you know. so the more people know about it the better the chance of changing how we deal with predators.

law shrink, do you know where we could get fact sheets, on child safety, predators in our communities, and a fact sheet on symptoms of child abuse. if it was very basic, maybe more people would have time (or be inclined) to read. with info included, where to find more info if they are interested. that way, if people contact organizations working on the issue, they could sign up for info to keep abreast of the issue too.

i am sorry i go on so long. sometimes i am glad i post near the end of the thread.

if anyone has any ideas on how to spread info on subjects please share. thank you.

yes he is different. i had been wondering if he was playing a role all of the time to be happily married for misty’s sake. you know being “on” so to speak. to keep her close? or to convince her, he really did want to get married, not for legal reasons. i guess he could also really be missing misty. and maybe with misty not being around, it maybe harder not to think all the time about what happened to haleigh.

Karon, I have been gone most of the day today and am trying to catch up but I agree Ronald had a sincere sadness and seemingly genuine tears.
In the past when some people thought Ron was smirking on NG I just thought she tickled him. I think Ronald sometimes sees NG as humorous, and has a mischievous grip about it. But I could be totally wrong. It is just NG gives me that same smirk sometimes, like she’s disgustingly humorous. I don’t know if I am making any sense but sometimes what I see on his face with NG, I feel kinda the same way. Teresa to me always seems sincere.

I finally found the energy to get back here, it really hit hard about Somer and hearing Marc Klaas on NG….NG asked him if they could still find Somer alve since it hadn’t been 24 hours and Marc responded with a NO, in stranger abductions the child is usually dead in 3 or 4 hours ( I believe this is the time frame but it was a very small amount of time).

So if Ron and Misty are guilty, its not of hiding Haleigh, If they are innocent that just leaves 2 alternatives: a stranger (or non family member) or Crystal.

If Crystal did anything Haleigh is probably being hid out.

If it was not Crystal, then Haleigh is probably not with us any more.

So I pray that Crystal is the guilty one, that Haleigh is safe and healthy somewhere. I pray she is found and returned home. The alternative is just too sad.

Laws need to be changed and these people, once exposed and found guilty do not ever need to be aloud to roam in public anymore. I’m all for the death penalty, my husband is more leaniant, he thinks that they need to set aside a place for all SOs to spend the remainder of their life. I told him Florida would be the perfect place, the majority of them were already there. (OK, don’t get mad I’m originally from Florida).

We don’t know what le is doing, so we should not be so quick to assume they aren’t doing their jobs. If we want to lay blame we can blame all those who were supposed to be watching over and caring for her and all those who have injected themselves into this case. Their behaviour since she went missing has done nothing but hinder le’s investigation. I don’t wonder at all why they are keeping a lid on details.

PAW - I’ve been suggesting the SO possiblity for months! I’ve never been happy about LE supposedly ruling out all the local SOs so darned fast.
And you are right. It would be very easy for an SO to watch that home and wait for his chance.
But LE DECIDED it was NOT a “stranger” abduction because there supposedly was no forced entry.
Well, another blogger just recently listed about a half-dozen cases of kidnapping children right out of their own homes - with no forced entry. And the perp was an SO - not a member of the family or part of that home. So local LE are imbeciles.
Maybe if Sheriff Hardy hadn’t been so fast to fire the most experienced detectives when he took office, there would have been someone on the case who could have suggested something helpful right away!

Because to me, it would have been very easy for an SO to sit and watch Ron’s house knowing Ron wasn’t home at night, Went in, picked up Haleigh while she was sleeping, took her out, did his thing, killed her, then threw her away and no one would know it.

Some kids don’t even wake up when you pick them up, especially if they’ve been sleeping for a while.

Some very valid points. I do think the media has a lot to do with the coverage and outcome of some of these cases. I’m in Cali and I live near some of the areas that have been in the news lately. It’s crazy how some get the coverage and others are left to fend for themselves.

ORANGE PARK, Fla. — After 7-year-old Somer Thompson vanished on her way home from school, investigators tailed nine garbage trucks from her neighborhood to a Georgia landfill nearly 50 miles away (see landfill), then methodically picked through the trash as each rig spilled its load.

They sorted through 100,000 tons of garbage before their worst fears were realized: Sticking out of the rubbish were a child’s lifeless legs.

Sheriff Rick Beseler said the quick discovery of Somer’s body on Wednesday, two days after she disappeared, may have saved precious evidence that could lead to her killer.

“Had we not done this tactic, I believe that body would have been buried beneath hundreds of tons of debris, probably would have gone undiscovered forever,” he said Thursday.

PAW I read a mainstream news article that quoted the Sheriff giving his detective the credit for suggesting that and the detective as saying that was something they’d been taught (in cop school or wherever). So I don’t know why HE thought of it and not the Sheriff or whoever but maybe it was just the fact that he thought of applying that investigative technique to THIS situation at THIS time! And for once it worked! Thank heaven! And it was very very smart for that Sheriff to assign all those cops and detectives to actually follow the trash trucks to the dumps so they could sift thru the specific piles. That was GOOD police work (for a change!)

Also what I question is this, and I don’t know why. What made 1 detective want to follow a trash truck to the landfill and search there? Obviously we are glad that took place. But was it because that detective did it but no one would question them? I mean, think about it. No tip, no leads and they follow a trash truck all the way to the landfill and find her??? We’ve seen worse of the worse here and nothing shocks me anymore. Hell we’ve had as far as a Sunday School Teacher do evil things and kill a child. Priests as well. There are crooked cops too and we all know that.

Yes, I may be looking too deeply into this. But damn, after whats all been going on in the past 1 1/2 yrs. Who’s to say it’s far fetched.

Her killer is still out there.

But, PAW, one area which I think DOES consider class is the media. I read an article on wesh.com recently and it ended with “two other high profile cases of missing children in Florida” and mentioned Haleigh and Trenton Duckett. NO MENTION of little Adji who went missing more recently than Trenton. I wrote them a right smart note about that. Who makes it “high profile?” The MEDIA! And they can’t be bothered with Adji.

PAW - They are probably thinking SO because of the reported attempt to grab another child the week before. Also, I’m not sure that class has anything to do with it. I think the Klaas family was middle class and they were put thru the wringer about their daughter. And I’ve heard other cases too (just can’t remember the names off-hand). Plus the recent Jaycee Dugard case. Her step-father was the main suspect for all these years. So I don’t think class necessarily dictates whether they look at SO’s first. I think it’s more circumstance.

See, with Somer Thompson, To me it sounds kinda odd in a lot of different ways. I’ll keep my mouth shut about it for now. But because this family isn’t “low class” they will never question anyone.

I’m gonna say it. The father stated he knew this was going to happen. If he knew this was going to happen, why didn’t he do something about it before it happened? Obviously they are divorced because he lives in NC. NC isn’t that too far away. Who’s to say he didn’t do it out of spite because of what might have been going on between him and Somer’s Mother?

Just a thought is all. But like I said, no one will ever get questioned.

Someone had already put out there 17 children missing/killed in the Orlando area this year. That’s a lot and that’s just the Orlando area. So yeah, that’s why I’m kinda going towards an epidemic direction here.

Yeah, Misty and Ron and Crystal are druggies, and have bad parenting skils, but it doesn’t make them murderers. Due to the lack of evidence if any at all, They go for the bottom feeders because they think they don’t have a leg to stand on because of their life style. So instead of doing their job, they run with something that just sounds good to them.

So Misty and Ron and Crystal didn’t respond the way we think they should have. And yeah, there is question on whether or not Misty was even home. 8 months later there is still nothing for the LE to even stand on.

BUT!, there are a lot of coincidental missing children in the upper 1/2 of Florida. Only a handful have been found. Where are the rest of them?

I’m starting to wonder if the side show circus BS is just a way to bring out the “bad” in these people because LE has no cluewhere to turn because they sat on their duffs too long. There has been a string of missing kids being killed all through that part of Florida. I’m starting to wonder if they are all related. Including Haleigh. These predators are watching every movement of these little girls from age 5-9 so far. The predator(s) is/are going to make a mistake sooner or later though.

I saw the Maury Show… and I am on the fence with this one. While I don’t believe Ron to be “directly” involved in the crime, I find him creepy. This could be because of all the other b/s and crazy antics he has pulled.

I have to say that there is no textbook on how to behave when this sort of crime occurs, but, I keep going back to the 911 call… I have no problem with him stating he’ll kill whoever has her. However, I don’t think you would focus on the prison time.

And I might get bashed for this one… I know the show is about an emotional subject matter, but why didn’t they wipe their eyes/faces. Almost like someone said let the tears run, it’ll look better.

Actually, Treece, when people involved in crimes fallout with their partners, that is when they talk. Tommy’s not revealing he was at the trailer until after Misty had a restraining order put against him makes more sense than just assuming he is making it up.

While he and she were getting along, he was likely to protect her but since they weren’t getting along, it makes it more likely he would just tell the truth because he no longer is concerned about protecting her.

Who knows where Misty got her money. You are probably right though. What do you think she gave them ? A picture of Haleigh or perhaps an artificial red rose. I wish they could solve this. I think they both just go with her lifestyle. I agree with you if she was out buying drugs and lost Haleigh that she would be afraid to tell Ron. went to SO, they told me detective working the case was real busy yesterday & out today. Then they told me the Palatka Police is working the robbery case. I called & left another VM for another officer that is working this one. We will see. If I do not receive a return call from the PPD then I will go down there personally after work. May not be anything (what I have to say) but then again…

Change the_system I hope you hound the heck out of them. They need to find out who it was behind the drug deal and robbery. I hear alot of folks from Putnam County state they believe their police force is crooked. I hope this is not true for Haleighs sake. The cell phone could be very important and for someone not to have a job to be carrying $300.00 in her purse.
I watched the Maury show. Ron and Teresa both seeming heart felt but nothing I picked up to shed a light on anything. They were very brief.

With all the tips they were given there is no way they would call very many back but they could have investigated who that man was. Not saying they did, but they could have. I am sure with 4000+ tips they didn’t return anyone’s calls unless they needed more info.

PAW69- yes I can & I will. Another thing, when HaLeigh 1st went missing there was a pic. of her bio mom on the front page heading to some kind of conference. There was a guy behind her & obviously part of the family in some way. Both my mom & myself noticed the resemblance of this person- he looked JUST like the father of one of my old friends-who molested her & her sister as children. I am certainly not saying bio mom or this guy (if it was in fact him) are involved BUT this too was reported by both of us.I called the crime stoppers hot line for tips, she called the local LE office. We both expressed our concern & that this at least should be checked out. We left our names & #’s for detectives to call us & no reply.

Also, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have your son fill out a police report. That way it’s on record and if nothing gets done about this, they can be in hot water.

Florida obviously has some serious issues. Now I see why it takes LE months/years to get somewhere.

It looks to me that the LE in the Somer case didn’t waste time. A very sad ending, But they did do their job. Maybe Putnam County should take notes.

This needs to be changed immediately.

And I’m wondering — why was Charlie Crist at the news conference in Orange Park? Could they be expecting a backlash from NOT publicizing about the earlier possible attempt? I have also heard that he had the state attorney general with him.

Hello everyone, new to posting but not to the site. In regards to our local LE & Misty buying drugs..my child who is in High School here in Putnam County came home on Tuesday, before this hit the news, telling me another kid at school was bragging about he had HaLeigh’s babysitter’s cell phone & how there was $300 in her purse (this kid probably lives in the apt. complex where this occured). I called the detective yesterday at 5:15pm & left her a VM concerning this & ya know what? It has been 17 hours since that call & I have had no call back. Makes me wonder is this the way the investigation has gone the past 8 months? Are they truly following up with leads? So many changes need to be implemented!
