Anyone that has been following the search for Haleigh Cummings is familiar with investigator William Cobra Staubs. Like so many people who have associated themselves with this case he has faced a great deal of adversity. For some reason this single case has brought out the absolute worst in a large number of people.
Cobra’s problems are not merely the internet comments being left of various web sites, but a much more serious legal issue that he faces in Putnam County. If found guilty in his December 14 trial he could well face some serious time behind bars.
He agreed to do a one on one interview with me, no holds barred. I should warn you that his language does get a little ripe in places, but this is the Cobra I know.
Essentially I wanted to cover two different areas, but highly connected. The first part of the interview was a discussion about the Bail Bond industry and how it works. It is a lot more complex than it first seems. Although I have talked to Cobra on many occasions this was the first time that I have had it explained to me in some detail. In understanding the dynamics of the industry it becomes easier to understand the dilemma that Cobra finds himself in.
The second part of the interview concerns his own court case. In typical Cobra fashion no punches are pulled! he tells it the way it is. He also names names, a move that I am sure will aggravate some in the bail bond industry.
At around the 30-35 minute mark in the recording he also makes an interesting allegation about a well known double Emmy award winning member of the press. If this is true, it really brings into question the integrity of the press.

I just finished listening to the Cobra interview. I really hear… and feel for what Cobra is talking about. Granted, he’s seen this business for years and isn’t innocent anymore. But a piece of him is, the part holding on for truth and justice. Hoping someone out there who can affect his future will do the right thing. I say allot of us get together (via this blog) and have people who supervise those in the insurance, legal, Govt. end of things f/u on those others who put him in this position. Let them feel the heat. Now. How about some of the friends of this blog who have connections to the larger entities in journalism speak up for Cobra. When that kind of light is on them -then things have a way of going away w/o making cobra the scacrificial lamb. What say you all?

If you were breaking the law when you picked up Snodgrass, then so were the cops who accompanied you.
I can’t see how any court would find you guilty because you have proof - Snodgrass’s case file - given to you for the purpose of bringing him in, correct?
Fact - Snodgrass violated probation when he visited HBC, and when he drove past the HBC yelling; LE was informed, and his probation officer should have been.
If you had testified against them when the state asked you to years ago, you probably wouldn’t have this headache now. I’m glad to hear you’re whistleblowing now, though, because it is better late than never.
Have you checked into protections under the whistleblower law?

Putnam County LE knows the felon is usually at Chuck’s Bail Bonds, and they know it is illegal for him to be there.

The county knows insurance companies are posting bail for detainees, even though nobody solicited them to do it.
Total BS for the county to let them get away with that devious, legal theivery.

You know what is super disturbing is that the felon creep hanging out at Chuck’s Bail Bonds knows he is violating the law, and he knows that LE knows he is violating the law.
So, WHO in Putnam County LE gave the order to OVERLOOK the FELON HANGING OUT AT CHUCK’S?
Gee, makes you wonder who gets the felon’s hush money.
So disgusting that LE is letting that child molesting felon violate the law by hanging out at Chuck’s Bail Bond’s.
No surprise Haleigh Cummings has not been found - the local LE protects a felon convicted of child molestation, from being arrested for illegally being present at a bail bonds business, so why would anyone think for a moment that the best interests of a child are of primary importance to LE in Putnam County?

I’m touched Cobra. Thanks.
I went through litigation for MANY years, and I know. Like you, I tore my self up over having to out people or/and go after them, fight like an animal. And learning who my real friends were and were not…it’s not pretty. Heart breaking.
Eat your honeybun, enjoy your family, rest up. There are other’s out here too. I think I can sum it up, that there are in general, some very good people who come to this site.
And if we can organize properly all the work, sweat and blood You, Jan, Simon, TJ, etc., everyone does, will not come to naught.
Haleigh is the focus, yes, but folks…. Cobra is in need of help too. If he is helped by us, and he gets through this, then he will be able to go on looking for little children, or others in need of help. Even if he quit this business, and couldn’t do it again, he will still help people because it is in his nature. We need to watch over each other in a meaningful way.
There are allot of gawkers when a crime happens. There are we witnesses, who now haven seen someone else’s need, must do something.
If we don’t, all our words of concern are meaningless. I have followed this blog and many others stories and very rarely write anything.
I am impassioned to help. I have seen several others out there already offering help. Now we need to get organized, in a focused manner.
This is primarily the Haleigh site. Jan and Simons’ blog. It seems we need a centralized way to communicate outside of this blog. Unless you Jan and Simon want it here. I will be happy to provide my e-mail address, or phone number to select people, but I really don’t want “everyone” out there to have it. Ideas?
Treece, I’m not 100% clear relating to the dangers Cobra might be in, which also means we need to be careful for our own sakes as well. So perhaps we could share some private e-mails, phone numbers, and limit who they go to. I’m going on the assumption that there are things we don’t understand. If we are going to come up with a game plan, some things need to be kept private.
What bad people don’t know won’t hurt us. I do think though a systematic approach is needed. These people don’t care who they destroy. Given all the things Cobra brought up there appears to be quite a few documents collaborating his defense. And therefore find it of concern that there is a continuance into December. Nance definatelly has some great ideas as well.
In order to survive my own legal dilemas that went on for years, I got really good at devising strategies, finding nuances etc, that lawyers and investigaters missed.
Cobra, I’d like to take a look at all your documents, if that’s ok. I might not find anything but there might be a pearl in there.
If we get all the legal documents, the names of all police involved, police officers, parole officers, insurance companies and devide research up, brainstorm etc, you would be amazed what can be done. We need to move on it quickly.
Witnesses lied and that is really bad for Cobra, but it’s bad for the liars too because they are commiting pergury. Let’s find out detailed information about them. The minute it can be proved one witness lied, it will start a domino effect.
Who is behind all this- who had the power to get this to where it ended up. There is orchestration going on.
When allot of this work is being done, when other blogs and articles are inndunated with Cobra’s facts, tv stations will smell a story, then they will suddenly want to be envolved as well. Because they are rating whores. Let them be involved then-if it brings light to Haleigh and helps Cobra.
Every day you kept this blog going, even when nothing was happening, when no apparant police activity was going on, when nobody else was reporting. Without you there would not be the scrutiny there is now.
With continued scrutiny and continued reporting about Cobra in a factually correct manner, defending him with verified facts when others lie about him, or report falsley, the truth will come out.
Certain people will want to avoid further embarrasment, or possibly job loss, and suddenly things will go away.
I have some other ideas but hesitate discussing them further here. Come on, let’s do this.

homespain, it sounds like you know what you are talking about. I don’t claim to know much about LE, nor am I an investigator. I will leave that up to the rest of you that know what you are doing to get a plan together. Then I will help in any way I can. Just let me know. Cobra needs all the help he can get. He has been been done so wrong, and for nothing. Sounds like a bunch of corruption there in Satsuma for sure. I’ts really scary. I have also been trying to keep up with this case for months. There are a lot of informative, caring people on this site that have great ideas and good information. They care about Cobra and will help in any way they can.
I agree though, and it’s just my opinion, I don’t think it’s a good idea to put out all your thoughts and information on this blog where the evil doers can find out what your plans are.
I know all of us here on BNN that care would love to participate, but I think we are all mature enough not to be offended if we don’t know every little detail. It will all come out in the end. Yes, it’s about Haleigh, but it’s about Cobra too. After all, he has been thrown under the bus too just trying to help.
