Mr.Dan M.. What Fr.John Harvey(and many others) says about same sex attraction is a Truthfull Fact.Just because you served in the military doesn’t mean your a man of good Morals,just means you served in the military,Honorably(?)Sexual relations in the military or fire departments or any place of employment out side of Marriage are Intrinsic- ly Evil!Even if your unemployed.I was a Marine who served Proundly,Not as a homosexual deviant.Heard of the old saying “their’s no honor among thieves”,Well their’s no Honor in Disobedience nor among Liars!I know you didn’t mention the fact of your sexual preference when you enlisted.By the way people Do care about your sexual choices,not your gender,not much can be done about the Lie,your already in the service.

Once again the idea of a law being passed that is “against the moral code of the bible” is a slippery slope towards the collapse of our country. I will not recount the points of view above, and believe me they are correct. What I will say is there are many gays and lesbians serving and dying with honor in the military and always have been. Many times the people in the same unit know and simply do not care. How do I know this? I am a gay man who not only served honorably in the Marine Corps for four years but then went on to 19 years in the fire department, and I was at the Trade Center when they came down and worked there for the next month. Please understand completely what you are talking about before you talk about it. Ignorance is not bliss, it is simply ignorance.

Somewhere along the line we decided to hold sacred a marriage for 24 hours (Britney Spears), a marriage to get health insurance (recently in the news), a marriage to get citizenship, a marriage for financial advantage and many others…and at the same time condemn any conceivable marriage between 2 persons of the same sex who have been together for over 20 years.

My solution? Make marriage purely religious. One that happens within the church.

And then if the couple wants the federal and civil benefits of being married (because that is what it truly is), they can get a civil union from the government…along with anyone else.

however it is entirely based on a religious point of view and the fact that a particular religous group’s beliefs drive public policy.

Moral laws are not strictly christian or jewish based. Amazingly enough atheist homosexuals live their lifes in a more moral way than many christian preachers….need I list a few?

As this country is not made up of entirely judo-christians, it therefore behooves us not to design all laws and policy based on the views of one particular sect.

As a result. Your argument is moot as it violates the basic concept of the separation of church and state and following your argument would automatically infer that the government endorse a judo/christian policy and endorsing any one particular religion is wrong.

Although I respect your right to believe what you believe, please understand that not everyone is (or relates to) catholic dogma, particularly as it pertains to sexuality and marriage, as celibates are not really in any position to consult on thos practices.
