Brian BrombergCD:  “It Is What It Is”

Label: Artistry Music

Release Date: August 25, 2009

For those of us who heard “Downright Upright” we were eagerly awaiting the next musical endeavor from Mr. Bromberg. In 2008 I had the pleasure of meeting and seeing him in concert at the Detroit Jazz Festival, this only increased my anticipation for this CD. Well on August 25, 2009 the wait was over Artistry Music released “It is What It Is” now out of the thirteen cuts on the CD I like eleven of them and the other two have grown on me since listening to the CD on a road trip. For those of us familiar with Quincy Jones or the theme from “Sanford & Son” by the way Quincy Jones wrote that them Mr. Bromberg does an excellent job of recreating it with his own personal spin. Mr. Bromberg had some help on this CD by label mate Richard Elliot and some well know musicians in the industry for instance R&B sensation Patrice Rushen, good friend Jeff Lorber, and Randy Brecker just to name a few. This is a CD worth listening to honestly it remained in my CD player for two months after I got it. That tells me that either I was too lazy to change my CD’s in my car or I really like what I heard. So I have to give Brian Bromberg’s CD “It Is What It Is” 3.5 out of five on my steering wheel scale. If you like jazz music you will enjoy this CD.

Sincerely;
