This just in...

Rachelle Radiuk, Executive Director of the Vancouver Police Board, sent COPP an email last night stating:

"I just received a copy of a letter sent from the Vancouver Police Union to the United Way confirming that the Union would NOT be participating in United Way fundraising this year as they will be promoting their own charity...."

Blogger News Network may deserve some credit for dissolving this conflict of interest partnership, as BNN has been publishing articles exposing harm done by it for years.

Cloud,

"So every time you give to United Way, think about where your money will be going!"

One thing people could tell United Way when they ask for cash is, "I don't want my donor dollars going toward hiring costly lawyers to coerce people who can't afford lawyers."

Although I focused on police intimidation in this article, this case also involved alleged lawyer intimidation. The author says that there were certain words in the Report on United Way that a United Way lawyer wanted censored. United Way staff would have known that the author, who had a Downtown Eastside address, didn't have the bottomless pockets for lawyers fees that they had. She didn't challenge them and stopped using the words they wanted censored.

The lawyer retained by United Way -- they didn't use an in-house lawyer -- had a documented record of unethical conduct at a United Way member group, a record that the paper trail reveals United Way was aware of.

When the author called United Way CEO Michael Mcknight this year and asked for a meeting to resolve outstanding issues, he refused and shortly afterwards hung up on her, scowling, "I think this conversation has gone on long enough." But you can bet he's finding time to chat with a lawyer.

United Way has always been fraudulent. They collect money they say is going to benefit the cities you live in. Yet where do you think the paychecks of these employees of United Way make money from? And they are paid extremely high salaries for only fund raising a few months out of the year. The former CEO of United Way in Philadelphia, Chritine James Brown was making over $240,000 a year!! yes a year, as a president of a non profit local chapter! That is fraudulent and corrupt any way you look at it! They also has an in house cook and catering department for their meetings and they spent money like water on personal things and expenses.
So every time you give to United Way, think about where your money will be going!
