Kung Fu movies seem to have been a little out of vogue ever since the death of Bruce Lee.  He made Hong Kong cinema what it is today and he helped all of us fall in love with the karate action movie.  He killed Chuck Norris and was the best of all time by the longest shot possible.  Yet there are some very dynamic actors and martial arts action heroes currently within the film world that have yet to receive their true due.  Now one of the best films one of the best of them has ever made is ready for you to bring home in a brand new format.

Starting this September 15th, now available on Blu-ray Disc from Miramax Films comes one of the best martial arts films in recent memories.  Hero – Blu-ray Disc is ready to come swirling out of your television screen and envelop your living room with some of the most amazing and breathtaking fight footage you’ve ever seen.  Bring home this modern action film classic today!

A nameless prefect presents himself before the king of China, showing the weapons of the three deadly assassins that he has killed as a service to the king.  He tells the stories of these battles, yet the king is unmoved.  The king presents a different series of events that has those three assassins working with Nameless to try and kill him.  We are then shown different recollections from the three assassins that back up this story.  However, Nameless, even though he lost his people to the king’s men, decides that a unified China is the most important thing of all and so he does not kill the King.  This movie stars Jet Li, Tony Leung, Maggie Cheung, Zhang Ziyi, Chen Dao Ming and Donnie Yen and was directed by Zhang Yimou and is presented by none other than master filmmaker Quentin Tarantino.

The special features included with this Blu-ray Disc are, first and foremost, a digital copy of this film for your portable media devices.  On the Blu-ray itself, there is a look at the storyboards used for the film, a featurette about the soundtrack for the film, a great look at the making of the movie, a featurette that takes you close up inside of a fight scene and a conversation about the movie with Quentin Tarantino and Jet Li.

Back when I first saw this, I knew it would be worthwhile because Quentin Tarantino had managed to attach himself to this project and everything that man touches becomes gold.  The other reason I knew it was going to be great was because Jet Li is in it.  He has a tendency to make some dumb movies, but he’s a fantastic martial artist.  The cinematography is beyond magnificent and the use of different colors for the recollections by different people is what really put this movie over the top.  The fight scenes are some of the best out there.  Take it home today and experience this great film in a whole new way – high definition.

Bring this home and be your own Hero today!
