My wife and I receive a good deal of Email traffic on the subject of missing children, a subject that should be the exception rather than the rule. Alas missing children seem to have become the latest ‘hot’ criminal item. One of the grumbles that Jan and I hear are that we only cover certain cases. Well, there is a good reason, we have limited resources, and there unfortunately are only 24 hours in the day!
We like to cover a story as well as we can.
Caylee Anthony had 100% of our attention, if you search Google you will see that. We continue to monitor the case, but, the little girl is no longer with us. Caylee Anthony’s mother sits in jail munching snacks purchased by idiots that put money into her jail account. Casey Anthony faces a murder charge, and unfortunately it likely will not be until next spring that she will have to face the court room. Her attorney Jose Bozo Baez prefers to spend his time spreading the guilt wherever he can, Zanny the Nanny, Jessie Grund, etc. Of course there is this huge question of who is paying his bill? Poke into that area, and some interesting names pop up. If I had the time and resources I would love to explore more, but the fact is, Caylee Anthony is dead. Do not get me wrong, I want justice. Everyone in the immediate family deserves punishment. Also the dubious ‘Trusts’ and ‘Non Profits’. This case is not about justice, it is about profit! Books, TV, and Movie deals abound. These people are nothing but animals!
Haleigh Cummings was the next missing child that Blogger News got involved in. Having invested seven months and who knows how many hours into this case, all I can say is, I am damn glad I am not related to any of the dysfunctional idiots that are family to these escapees from the movie Deliverance!
I think it would be fair to say that the combined IQ’s of the Cummings and Croslin family’s could not gain entrance to MENSA. Most of them run around with IQ’s that match their hat size!
We hope that Haleigh Cummings is still alive and well. I talk to people daily on this case. One day I will share some of the information. But not until we find Haleigh Cummings.
Adji Desir has received little media attention. I don’t want to play the ‘race’, ‘sex’, or ‘Mentally challenged’ card. But, all of them come into play. Adji is male, that immediately loses interest, missing kids need to be young females with cute hair and winning smiles. Adji does not fit the mold, he is 6 years old, but is challenged, his mental age is put at 2, he is male, and he is black. Should this make a difference? NO NO NO! I literally get sick to my stomache when I hear about these kinds of cases. I try to beleive that there is a special place in hell for the people that cause this kind of thing. The trail of christopher barrios starts this week. Please keep christopher barrios and rowan ford in your hearts and thoughts also. I couldn’t even begin to imagine having something happen to my child and I am really not mom of the year.
I would also like to add that I had my daughter at 19 years. She is 14 now. I remember when I first saw the movie 8mm with nickls cage. I was so disturbed and upset. My father then watched it and told me that I like to live life with rose colored glasses on and that kind of thing really doesw happen. Maybe I was too niave and sheltered. I DO know this….my heart does go out to every parent that has ever gone through having a missing child.
Simon I think your blogs and radio shows are powerful and informative . I really appreciate your work and time that goes into informing everyone who is interested and concerned. It would be wonderful to advocate for Adji the way you all are advocating for Haleigh . You know it really does seem to put the pressure on the key people who are involved by bringing media attention. If it works in Haleighs case why wouldn’t it work for Adji or any of the other missing Children ? We need more people with a big loud voice to get things moving and solved…..
Good essay. Sometimes it seems that the children who don’t get the media attention they deserve and necessary (if for no other reason than to have the public praying for their safety and quick return) is that their families act with decorum.
And that’s just whack. But look how lies and blood money (for two) have kept the interest for justice in Caylee’s and Haleigh’s cases alive.

Kids in these kinds of families where they aren’t watched closely have to be prey for the human traffickers also. Just freaks me out to think of a little kid stolen to be used in some sex ring. Saw a report from state dept. earlier in the year that kids are trafficked out through Florida, Bahamas and out. Even though it is someone close to the kids, I wish more publicity was put on the human trafficking aspect of missing kids. If nothing else than have law enforcement make it known they check into that when a child goes missing. Seems like a human trafficker could use the Casey Anthony lie and present herself as a babysit and steal a kid. No one would think anything other than the parent did it. Especially in Florida where it seems so many go missing and the report from the state dept. about kids being trafficked out in that area.
You’re absolutely right Simon. My heart goes out to his family. I have a nephew who is autistic and wandering is an issue that most parents of kids with disabilities have to deal with. And you biggest fear is what kind of person is going to find them if they do wander.
Unfortunately Simon and Jan the sad truth is that there are just too damn many of them for all of them to get equal press.
Do I find problems with the ones that are chosen by the media over the ones who aren’t. Constantly. A baby missing from a work village should get just as much attention as a cute little girl next door.
I’ll add Adji to my prayers. Just like Haleigh’s case hits home because she’s a cute little blond girl like my own little Bug; Adji’s Creole background and disability reminds me of my nephew.

YOu guys have done a wonderful job with the resources that you have. YOu are only 2 people with your own lives and own family with only 24 hours in a day.
YOu can’t cover every single thing every day. Its unrealistic and unfair to ask you to do that. I, personally, am greatful for the information that I do get from you. It ensures that we will not forget.

All missing children are of course equally important but this case is somehow, at least to me, VERY important. It probably has to do with all the issues surrounding it. Did this child disappear because of careless teenage dropout who did not have the right parenting? Should we take more measures to punish parents who allow their children to drop out (at thirteen as was reported?) Was Haleigh’s disappearance because of a diabolical plot involving human trafficking and do we need the death penalty for that crime? Do we need new, stiffer laws to punish adults who allow teenagers to shack up in their home, thus breeding irresponsibility (criminal irresponsibility in my opinion), and punishment for those proven to know about it and not report it? Do we need new, stiffer laws for adults who knowingly have teenagers in their home who are using drugs? Should we the taxpayers pay for other people’s disabled children that they produced because they were taking drugs when the child was conceived? Should we force convicted drug offenders to be sterilized? Should we have the death penalty for drug-dealers and child rapists?
There are a lot of issues we as a society are going to have to be dealing with, and a whole bunch of them are showing up at once in this case. Anyone else care to add to the list?

Simon & Jan, I commend you for the stories you do cover. If everyone will remember, Haleigh’s story was getting very little if any coverage in the media. BNN has kept her story out there most every day. In fact, if you want information, here is the place to be. Unless they consider it to be a “bombshell” as they like to refer to it, only a sentence or two is covered. I think they got some of their information from this site if the truth were to be told. You’ve got to look at all the pieces, then put them together. There’s where you get the full story. Sounds like it’s going to all come out soon.

The latest news that I read somewhere is that the FBI forensics people “lost” (eradicated) the sticky impression of a heart sticker that had been on the duct tape wrapped around her skull. They not only managed to do that while trying to get fingerprints from the tape, but the FBI report states that the impression/sticky residue of the heart was not SEEN by them! EEEK!
I know some people believe that maggot’s conviction is a slam dunk. I don’t. I will remain concerned until the verdict comes in.

I think a lot of it is if it seems like a case where the child is killed right off or doesn’t seem to have hope they don’t cover it as well or follow it. It has to have a twist or right timing like Haleigh’s on the day of Caylee’s memorial. Adji comes from a migrant working community. That too plays into the interest factors. People are gonna feel like there’s no hope. I think those kids need the attention the most.
Simon & Jan, thank you so much for helping get Adji Desir being missing for so long out there in the media, it appears as if he is a forgotten child. I cannot believe Child Protective Services and othe Human Services Agencies are not involved with searching for him because of his disabilities. Adji is 6 years old and only speaks 5 words how can he even tell someone his name or where he lives. Today Simon & Jan thank you for being a voice for him and asking others to search/look for Adji.

alethea; While I agree with trying to find ways to support and ensure responsible parenting and punishing parents who are not responsible, I am slightly alarmed by one question you asked:

I do not believe that children should be made to suffer (more than they already are) because of the sins of the parents. I don’t think you really meant it that way, did you? Perhaps the parents need to suffer a whole lot more (via some sort of penalty/punishment) but not the children.

The story on Haleigh has sure been calm this weekend.Last I know is Haleigh’s grandma is booked in jail and about a letter delivered. I hope they are working on answers and arrest SOMEONE soon!

Someone more savy than I am could possibly check the reflection in the Caylee’s eyes to see who is videoing. I wonder if law enforcement is aware of this video as it is really strange. All the videos of Caylee where no one is talking to her seem weird to me, also. Anyone else think that?
