The paparazzi didn't kill her - lack of a seat belt (which she ususally always used), and the medical system in France killed her. The true person responsible is Mr. Fayad himself. Why don't you check on how much security he has when he travels. The most famous woman in the world and you had 2 body guards who hadn't slept in 2 days, no other cars to try to keep the pap. away. Why do you think he is SO adament about them being killed - he doesn't want to be responsible for their deaths, when, in fact, he is.

Nancy - Actually I want to point a finger at the lousy medical system. I almost mentioned it here. I've been amazed (appalled is a better word) since the day this tragedy happened that her care was mis-handled SO badly and not much has been said about it. Does anyone know if this is "standard" in France? Loiter around the accident scene instead of rushing to the hospital? Good Lord. If anyone killed her it's the French medical system.

well, you know,

1) if she wore a seat belt, she would have lived. The bodyguard in the front was wearing his, and he lived.

2) if they had "scooped and run" to the hospital, and did a CT scan or even a simple chest X ray, they would have been able to diagnose her torn pulmonary vein that killed her. Instead, they "stablized" her at the scene, taking over two hours...and she bled to death inside her chest before she got to the hospital.

but no one wants to point fingers at a lousy medical system.

Oh and Trapper! A lot of Americans still love royalty. We don't want to be ruled by them but we still love them - a la Jackie and John Kennedy - for example.
And millions of Americans got up before dawn to watch Diana's wedding - and her funeral.
We do love Princesses (including our daughters!)

Hi, Trapper! This article was written by Elizabeth Bennett not Simon. And I've gotten the impression that Simon doesn't miss England much.

Elizabeth, I totally agree that "These paparazzi are stalkers, bullies and are dangerous!"

First, "paparazzi" is too glamorous a word to describe vultures, stalkers and bullies!
We should not call them that anymore.

This is general - not connected to Diana but to all the stuff that goes on everyday here in the US...
WHY isn't there a law to prevent them (and their microphones and cameras) from getting any closer to someone than say 6 feet (in a public place)?

I can't imagine how it feels to try to walk, totally surrounded by a shoving crowd and equipment and risk having a tooth knocked out by a microphone. Or trying to drive with the choice of staying completely still or running someone over! I think I'd run them over I really do!

If for no other reason than everyone's physical safety there needs to be a law about this!

With today's technology NO microphone OR camera needs to be within 10 feet (and that's generous) in order to record sound or visual! THere is no need at ALL! It's ridiculous! To me it's the equivalent of "unlawful imprisonment."
