Yes, honesty can work.  But in my consulting work, stopping energy vampires takes concerted effort from dedicated teams and managers.

True energy Vampires take our energy as a way of life (as if they’d die without it) – they’re very resistant to changing deep-seated patterns.  People who are merely having a bad day or a temporary life problem are much more amenable to going back to their previously good ways of relating.

But I’ve been very successful in helping people who are dedicated to creating teams-departments in which great attitudes are the rule.
