A few nights ago, I went bowling with some of my friends.  I won one game and did quite badly on the other two, but that’s not the point.  They were playing a bunch of music videos at the alley that night because there weren’t any big sporting events on.  One of the music videos was for the new single from none other than Demi Lovato, a fact I excitedly pointed out.  After much verbal abuse, I was able to convince them that I knew that because I had just watched this DVD, not because I was a huge fan.  But if you are, it’s ready for you on DVD right now!

Starting this August 25th, now available on DVD from Disney Channel and Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment comes the first collection of episodes from the first show revolving around one of the Disney Channel’s new rising stars.  Sonny With A Chance – Sonny’s Big Break – Volume One is ready to come right out of your television screen and bring a world of excitement into your living room.  Bring home this great first collection of episodes today!

Sonny is just a regular girl from the Midwest with normal dreams of becoming a star.  Then she get’s the chance of a lifetime when she’s invited to join the teen sketch comedy show So Random!  This is what she’s been waiting for her whole life, but it isn’t turning out exactly like she had imagined it doing.  Some cast members aren’t ready for a new star and so the spotlight turns out to be strangely elusive for Sonny.  Now it’s up to her friendliness and quick wit to help her keep the spot and fame she earned for herself.

The special features included in this DVD are the season finale cliffhanger short from rival show Mackenzie Falls, a bonus episode of this show and Demi Lovato’s original audition for this show.

As I’ve said before, I miss the gap in Demi’s teeth.  It made her more approachable, much more human.  Now she’s just another unrelatable pop princess rocketing up the charts and into the hearts of our children.  This show does a good job with its stories of the outsider trying to break into the world that the others already occupy.  Some parts are genuinely funny.  All in all, this show is good and even actually enjoyable from time to time.  It can be overly childish at times, but it is a Disney show and their shows are slanted aggressively to younger ages.  So if you like the show, you will love it on DVD.

Take a Chance on this new show if you like other Disney fare.
