I was less than excited when I first saw previews for this movie.  But as I learned more about it, I began to look forward to it more and more.  I have always enjoyed Ryan Reynolds, although he needs to start doing more good movies.  Then there’s Jesse Eisenberg, one of my favorite young actors.  Martin Starr made Freaks And Geeks and Greg Mottola directed Superbad.  And who can forget Kristen Stewart, who I find so beautiful that I ended up watching Twilight twice back to back.  Now you can get one of my new favorite movies on DVD today!

Starting this August 25th, now available on DVD from Sidney Kimmel Entertainment and Miramax Films comes a story about post-college disappointment and one horrible amusement park.  Adventureland is ready to spin out of your television screen and fill your living room with a compelling tale of delightful disillusionment and awkward attractions.  Bring home this fantastic story on DVD today!

James Brennan has just graduated college and is looking forward to backpacking across Europe and going to Columbia to study journalism in the fall.  Then his dad gets demoted at work and his plans of travel are shot.  Unable to find any other job, he is forced to take work at Adventureland, a local amusement park with bad rides and rigged games.  There he meets Em, a beautiful and mysterious college student.  With his new friends and a new love, what will happen once everything starts to fall apart?  This movie stars Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Martin Starr, Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig, Margarita Levieva and Ryan Reynolds and was written and directed by Greg Mottola.

The special features included in this DVD are a selection of three hilarious deleted scenes, a featurette about the making of this movie and an optional audio commentary from writer and director Greg Mottola and actor Jesse Eisenberg.  To be honest, I was looking for a little more when it comes to special features.  Mottola’s last film was loaded down with special features, so it was a disappointment that nothing further was included here.

This movie is monumentally fantastic.  One word that completely encapsulates this movie experience would be cringe-worthy.  Jesse Eisenberg is beyond amazing in his role and is so painfully awkward that there are still interactions that I cannot watch on screen.  Martin Starr is so hilarious and delivers some of the best one-liners in the entire movie.  Ryan Reynolds is amazing as the philandering and lying maintenance man.  This story of disillusionment is beyond amazing and is painfully true to life.  Also, the music is just fantastic, with Lou Reed, The Cure, Bowie, INXS and so much more.  This movie perfectly encapsulates so much of that angst that comes with a college degree and no clear plan for your life.  Bring it home today and you will not regret one single second of it.

This is an Adventure you don’t want to miss.
