It has been announced that a long time survivor of the asbestos related cancer, mesothelioma, is to be honoured at an awards ceremony. The survivor, June Breit, who is a registered nurse, has been battling the asbestos related cancer for seven years.

She is now to be honoured at the Annual Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) Asbestos Disease Awareness Conference in Chicago, Illinois. The awards ceremony is set to take place in April of next year.

Breit was diagnosed with the deadly cancer in 2002, and since this time she has been working hard to try and raise awareness of the disease. She also encouraged the governor of the State of Pennsylvania to launch Mesothelioma Awareness Day to further raise awareness of this deadly disease.

Having been a nurse for thirty years Breit was well aware of what to expect when she was diagnosed with the cancer, although she was shocked because she did not know that she had been exposed to asbestos at any time.
