Thank you for writing such a balanced article. The many people that bash pay day lending have probably never needed a outlet for quick cash because an emergency came up. Yet apparently they know what is best for me.
Unfortunately, there are not very many credit options for many consumers in the marketplace today with the tightening of credit. Payday loans are actually a responsible way for subprime consumers to cover immediate or emergency money needs. Plus, it is a more proactive solution than paying NSF or overdraft fees or defaulting on credit cards or other loans.
Lastly, I do like to gamble. It's fun to do every once in a while. With gambling though, I take "x" amount of dollars with me and I plan on losing it. If I walk out with more than I went in, fun trip. As you said though, Las Vegas isn't what it is from people winning.

Thanks for a great article with some very valid points. I would like to add that I consider myself an adult. I would like to have all the information provided to me, and then be allowed to make my own decision. What Ohio did was take away my choice. I and since we are talking about gambling, I bet the people involved with taking away my consumer choice have never been in the position to need a PayDay loan. I am thankful they were there when I needed a quick, short-term loan.

Looks to me like payday loans and gambling go hand in hand.

Sincerely,
