<description>It always makes me laugh when I hear foreign countries commenting on the United States. First of all the number of uninsured are grossly misstated and include illegal immigrants. It also doesn't mention that all Americans are covered through private insurance, medicaid or medicare. No American is denied medical treatment when they go to an Emergency Room for treatment including illegal immigrants. I am not wealthly and, in fact, I was orphaned before I was out of High School and I have had access to the best medical care in the world. America's high costs of private insurance is due to Goverment regulation which prohibits Insurance companies to compete across state lines forming monopolies and skyrocketing costs. Private insurance costs are also driven by frivolous medical malpractice lawsuits being brought by trial lawyers. The United States needs tort reform but Washington politicians don't want to go after the trial lawyers because the lawyers provide large political contributions. We also have a problem with medicaid and medicare fraud which needs to be reined in. America has the greatest healthcare system in the World and that is a fact. The solution to our problems does not lie in socialized healthcare but reform. If anyone from the UK is going to comment on the United State's healthcare they should at least understand our system and present the facts. If the UK cannot do that then they should stay mute.
