Neanderthal DNA shows no
interbreeding with humans

Now that’s a relief.

DNA fragments from a 38,000 year old Neanderthal has been successfully extracted and studied by a group of scientists in California.  Their findings do indicate that we shared a common ancester with those ancient tough guys, but since the two species split more than 370,000 years ago, it’s being assumed that no mating rituals went on.  That means if you’re wondering what could have produced that caveman your daughter wants to go out with, you’ll have to look elsewhere for blame.
