Caylee Anthony disappeared last year in mid June and her mother, Casey Anthony didn’t even bother to report the child missing for 31 days. The question as to why has remains a mystery to many of us, unless you want to accept the answers they give like Casey was out doing her own investigations. She apparently was doing thorough searches in nightclubs and on the dance floors, in Target and Blockbuster too. I can see where that would take up a lot of time while searching. Yeah right! And we were all born yesterday.
Casey was arrested when a Florida Grand Jury handed down an indictment for first degree murder against her and she has been in jail ever since. On December 11, 2008 the remains (yes George I called it remains because thanks to your daughter that was all that was left of this poor child) were found and people from across the world cried.
Now as a grandmother, if this had been my grandchild that was finally found I would have been a wreck. I would be crying and wanting to see where she was found and most of all I would be lashing out at the person responsible for my grandchild’s death. George and Cindy Anthony, Caylee’s grandparents, are very different. What did they do the night they found out about this? They flew home from their little trip that they were on to appear on the Larry King Show to defend their murderous monster daughter, and went to the Ritz Hotel, checked into a room and had steak dinner in a party style with Jose Baez, Dominic Casey, Michelle Bart and who knows who else. Rumor has it that they were seen sitting at the table laughing and smiling as if nothing had happened.
Now Casey’s defense team has managed to get the trial delayed until January. All this was so to the newest attorney added to the wanna-be dream team Andrea Lyon who says the court date set would interfere with her teaching job saying she won’t have enough time in her schedule to prepare for Casey’s case. What a crock! And to make matters worse the judge granted the delay. Unbelievable! If she can’t fit this trial into her busy schedule she shouldn’t have taken on the case. I suppose she didn’t want to miss out on the chance of that book deal she might get with her being on this wanna-be dream team.
Now another motion filed by Baez and Lyon to delay having to go to trial on the fraud charges that the prosecutors have on Casey for stealing money and forging her friend’s name on her checks and cashing them. They are telling the courts that they can’t afford to waste their precious time and resources on a fraud case with the capital case still hanging over their heads. Well boo-hoo for them. Casey did the crime now let the witch pay for it like anyone else that has committed a crime does.
This motions reads:
“The complexity of the capital case necessitates a delay in the check forgery case.”
The attorneys are trying to tell the courts that forcing them to go to trial for the fraud charges first would divert their attention from the murder trial and impede her right to a fair trial. Since the death penalty has been added they claim they need more time to prepare since Lyon will needs to catch up with the case.
By their way of thinking they say that since Amy Huizenga, Casey’s ex-friend has been compensated by her bank and Baez’s firm reimbursed the bank for more than $600 there should be no harm in delaying it.
My question here is why should Casey get this delay at the expense of Amy Huizenga’s justice for what has happened to her? Bowing down to Jose Baez and his demands doesn’t seem to be quite fair to Amy. She is the victim here and I know if it were me in her shoes I would be expressing my rights to a speedy trial and make them go to a trial now. Casey has had enough privileges set for her. She thinks she is a dam princess enough now anyway. It is time to take her damn crown away and bring her back to reality, where if you put yourself in this position you must pay for it.
Another motion filed by Baez is to prevent the state from using statements made by Leonard Padilla or any of his employees as evidence in the trial. Baez claims that they were working for him at the time so everything they heard should be privileged information.
According to defense lawyer, Richard Hornsby the agreements are worthless that were signed because Florida statutes do not allow attorneys and bail bondsmen to enter into confidentiality arrangements.
“Jose Baez should have never had a reasonable expectation that anything she said would be confidential or fall under the attorney client privilege and that’s a big problem,” said Hornsby. “He should have advised her right away – don’t say anything to anybody.”
Padilla has said that Anthony has made some damaging statements such as “They haven’t even found the clothes she was wearing”
“Everything’s been a game to her…to lead us to believe the clothing was somewhere but not in the proximity of the body,” said Padilla.
Whatever it is that Padilla and his employees have that they can say on that witness stand must be something that can really hurt the defense’s case. If not, why would they bother going through the trouble to block it from being used. I said Jose (sleazebag) Baez is starting to run a bit scared.
I think that Caylee’s justice is way over due. Her life was taken from her way too early and she deserves to receive justice. Let’s hope that the judge doesn’t listen to Baez and Lyon and that he allows all this to go on with no more delays so not only Caylee can get her justice but so the person responsible for all this no longer receives royalty status and she finally pays for this horrible thing she has done to her own daughter.

I’m torn… I don’t want ANYTHING to impede the state’s ability to get this sociopath convicted & sentenced for killing her innocent baby.
On the other hand, I also think it’s unfair to Amy to have to put HER life on hold because of this monster.
That said, ALL of Casey’s friends have to twiddle their thumbs until the monster’s murder trial starts…. Jesse, Tony, Amy & all the rest of the people who have had the misfortune to be involved with this pathological liar. These kids have LIVES they want to live without having to worry about lawyers, investigators & a depressing trial hanging over their heads.
Frankly, I don’t see why Baez or anyone would have to do much work to prepare for the financial crimes…. the evidence was caught on video tape. If they were smart they’d have her plead guilty to that relatively minor crime & avoid risking any damaging testimony that might result during that trial.
Jan, you actually have no idea how you would react if your grandaughter was found murdered. People often react atypically to trauma. It’s not unusual NOT to cry, as you should know. Give George and Cindy a break. They do not have to satisfy you or anybody else that they are grieving appropriately, and frankly whether they eat steak or not is no indication of their states of mind, and none of your business.
I also remind you that their “murderous monster daughter” has not yet been convicted of that crime, and is entitled to due process. Your approach to this case is bitter and emotional, which compromises your observations. I think Casey is probably guilty, and if found to be so, deserves very severe punishment: but I also believe in justice and reason.
George and Cindy Anthony also deserve grace and compassion; they are in an unimaginably painful situation. Has their desperate hope that their only daughter is innocent of murder clouded their judgment? Perhaps. But if we can’t extend forgiveness and tolerance to a couple of bereaved individuals in a profoundly disturbing situation then we ourselves can only expect to be similarly judged and harassed when at our lowest points and not behaving as expected by an unsympathetic community.

You obviously have not seen the Media Circus that the Anthony’s revel in. Then, there is Kidfinders and the CMA Foundation. Neither are working and are making blood money off their dead granddaughter.
If they are bereaved, they sure aren’t acting like it. The need to stay off my television screen, shut up and sit on the side of the Prosecution when they are in court. Where is the justice for Caylee?????????
I think that all the delays in this case are causing a dwindling in the media coverage. The story is rarely mentioned lately and I do not watch Nancy Grace much anymore because I was so engrossed in this case and Nancy never even metions it — This probably does not really make the defense team very happy or the Anthony’s . As much as they gripe about the media, it must remain the “biggest story yet” for them to profit off of it. The expensive attorneys are only in it for the notoriety and now that it seems to have become less than front page news, they must be a little disappointed.
St this point Geo. and Cindy must have to work. They are not making the appearances anymore because no one is interested in them. They just lie and don’t shed any light on anything, which is what we, the public long for - I do wonder if they work. Who has been paying their bills all this time.?
I think they already knew Caylee was gone and knew of where her body was for a long time. Hence the lack of shock and devestation most people would have had that night at the Ritz. It was obviously old news to them.
The defense team who is only in it for the publicity is shooting themselves in the foot by delaying and delaying. By the time this comes to trial, it also will be old news to us.

I must not understand correctly about the check fraud case, I thought there was an entirely different attorney taking care of that issue , or maybe it was for the Gonzales case? Any how she was caught on video cashing checks, buying things at Target and signing her own signatures to checks! Give it up already and plead guilty you stupid POS to the fraud. According to a news report on wftv.com the January date is for a “status/pretrial” meeting to “figure out whether they’ll be ready by next summer” for the actual trial.
I believe delays are a typical defense strategy. Among the reasons: witnesses’ memories can be more easily challenged about what happened years ago, and evidence can be lost or tainted or at least more easily challenged. Plus, in this case, the loss of intense public interest (combined with the public’s short memory) can only benefit the defense. And Sindee and G have more time to lobby for themselves and maggot.
That’s why I am not really happy with the state’s decision to go for the death penalty.
It handed excuses for extensive delays to the defense on a silver platter. The delay in getting a DP qualified attorney for starters. Then the delays she will cause by filing numerous motions against the death penalty. And now, she’s going to be too busy teaching to work on the case.
According to that article, her teaching schedule would not mean much to most judges but Strickland and the state seem to be bending over backwards (and have since the beginning) to avoid giving the defense “an argument they could use on appeal saying they weren’t ready when they had to go to trial.”
This really makes me mad. Did Hosebag go out and LOOK for the least available DP attorney?
Maybe. Why should justice for this child be delayed so that the lawyer can pump up her salary, reputation, tenure, (book/movie deal?) while the trial is on hold? Isn’t Caylee entitled to some reasonably speedy justice?
Nope. Doesn’t seem like Caylee is entitled to a darned thing.
Personally I’d have been satisified with life with no parole especially if it meant having the trial a whole lot sooner than “MAYBE NEXT summer.” I do not understand why the state did this - especially with the evidence that I have seen. I think the chances of a jury actually giving her the DP are very very slim.

Do you folks know that the Bank Of America refused payment by Baez for the check charges against Casey of stealing the money from Amy’s account? I saw the letter from the Bank to Baez. Reason not to take the money order of over $600.00 was due to upcoming litagation the Bank stated.

To a bank, fraud is really really serious. You can’t just “pay it back” and everything’s okay. The bank will want the guilty party in jail. Well, she is, of course, just not for that - yet.

I thought the main reason the defense didn’t want the fraud case tried before the murder case - at least long ago when all this started - was because if she’s convicted of the fraud then she has that on her record when it’s time for sentencing (I hope and pray) for the murder. And that could make it worse for her then. And yes I thought it’s another “partner” at hosebag’s firm who is representing her on the ZFG case and the fraud case. But maybe Hosebag is doing the fraud case as well as the murder case. Don’t know who’s representing her in the ZFG case. Whoever it is never bothered to show up for any of the depositions that Morgan took.
They need to go ahead and try her on the check charges just like the civil suit depositions that are being taken now on the “supposed babysitter”. Quit giving these people the publicity they so glaringly revel in give this child who never hurt anyone some peace. I am a mother and grandmother, I know that I would be shocked, stunned and heartbroken if my child did this to their child, and I would have to find a way to live with it, but it is like any death that happens inside a family, you learn to deal with all the conflicting emotions and try to carry on “in private”…. not in front of every TV camera in the world.
Jan, I agree with you 100%!!I might have been born yesterday but I have had a day to think about it. Far too much coddling has already been done to princess Casey so it is time for that to stop. She has had way too many favors tossed her way, many more than any other criminally charged person I have ever heard about. The judge needs to go ahead with the fraud trial and not allow Baez’s whining to deter justice. Too freaking bad if Lyon can’t take time from teaching, is she an attorney or not? If she did not have time, why take the blasted case in the first place? When the delay came this time due to Lyon being included in the Dream Team, my first thought was whether later down the line at the scheduled trial date, would they bring in another lawyer to delay the trial again? Well, it has worked twice so whiney butt Baez thinks he can continue with this tactic. Bottom line, he is running scared and with due cause. I can not wait to see this whole thing bust apart right in his smug face. You keep up the good work Jan, no matter what some folks might fire back at you, you are right! To Ella and her agreeing friend. We are not judging Casey and the Anthonys, they brought judgement upon themselves! The actions of the grandparents do not show a lot of grief, no matter who you are, you do not act as these folks do and expect others to sympathize with you. Their behavior is not a what it should be under the circumstances, nor that of the daughter who sits in jail for the murder of her own baby. No amount of calling down those who do not approve of them will make a bit of difference. If you do not like the subject matter here or the discussions, go play somewhere else!

I find it typical of Jose to claim “no harm, no foul” because Amy received credit by the bank and he attempted to pay them some of the money which Casey stole. For those keeping score, Casey forged far more than only $600, perhaps more than twice that much. And let’s not forget the retailers who never got compensated. Sure, the bank may get paid, but do you think they pass the money on to Target? And what about the goods producers? Did they get paid?
When someone commits fraud, it is even more serious than outright theft because our society is based on credit and electronic fund transactions. An entire chain of people and companies are affected by each fraud.
As far as the delay of the fraud cases, shame on Jose. Clearly, Casey stole Amy’s checkbook and wrote fraudulent checks at multiple retailers. There is no question about this, these are the facts as supported by video and transaction records. Shame of Jose for having Casey enter a plea of Not Guilty in the first place.
And to Ella and her supporters, perhaps you missed the fact that the Anthony’s began profiting from Caylee’s death through merchandising and the collection of donations for a search that never took place. The Ants never spent any money on searching. Yes, they did pay a PI, but he admits he only searched for the little girl twice, both times in the woods where her body was eventually discovered (not that he had any inside info, but that is another story).
So, where did all the money go? How about the money for the T-shirts sold after Caylee’s body was found? Are they still selling bracelets?
Why are the Milsteads and Bart so buddy-buddy with the Ants?
And to everyone that likes to comment about how Casey is only in pre-trial and has not been convicted of murder yet, why don’t you tell that to Caylee?
Casey is not yet legally responsible. That does not mean she did not end Caylee’s life. She did. No matter what the outcome of the trial, no matter what charge they eventually find her guilty of, she ended her daughter’s life.

Most parents and I mean the higher end of most, would not fail to report the disappearance of their 2-year old child. Its my belief that the same percentage of most grandparents would support their accused children but not cover up for their murderous actions. It’s true Casey Anthony has not been convicted but you have to agree that failing to report a missing two year old for 31 days is highly suspect.
The opinions you read here are extremely harsh and critical because a loving, caring parent could never murder their two year old child.

This forum constitutes a jury of Casey’s peers. Almost everyone that comments here is an American citizen, although there are a few international readers. This jury has evaluated the evidence released to the public to date and has found Casey guilty of the murder of her child and her parents guilty of obstruction of justice and extremely poor judgement in general.
What you are saying is that Casey has not yet been found guilty by a jury in a court of law.
The great thing about living in America is that everyone does get to have an opinion. However, cruel comments about the people who use this forum to express their views is not an “opinion”, it is an attack. Calling people “judgmental self-rightous inividuals” is not an opinion, it is an insult designed to bring about an indignant response.
No one has suggested denying Casey her day in court. No one has seriously suggested that Casey be denied any rights due an American citizen under the Federal and Florida Constitutions.
You don’t have to be ‘hate-filled’ to find Casey’s actions abhorrent (even if you don’t believe she murdered Caylee, her actions since then have been despicable) or to believe that her parents have lied and commited their own forms of fraud to protect her.
You do have to be ‘hate-filled’, ‘judgemental’, and ’self-rightous’ to brand others as such based upon the few sentences you have read from them in the comments.
Perhaps one of the most interesting aspects of this case is that no matter how many message boards you visit about the subject, those who support Casey’s innocence invariably hurl insults and generally attempt to divert attention from the facts and evidence of the case.

If I were on the prosecutions side of the fence, I would be doing the same thing. If I were on the defense team, I would do my best to present reasonable doubt. That’s how our AMERICAN legal system works.
There have been many, many cases built on the one-sided view of the prosecution, which have sent innocent people to prison for many years. Evidence should be evaluated as a whole (both sides) in order to conclude innocence or guilt.
Again, it’s just so funny that when the opinion is different than the majority on these boards, it considered an insult instead of an opinion. I’ve read some very strong opinions/insults about Casey and the rest of the Anthony’s, but that’s okay by the standards of the majority. However, when someone like me comes along and gives their OPINION of the blogged comments, it’s an insult. IMO, I see a lot hatred, judgments, and self-righteousness being spewed from the majority on these boards. I just don’t see the need - I guess because I just don’t live with that kind of hatred in my life.
There was a precious Angel taken from this earth without rhyme or reason, but Caylee is with God, which is the most beautiful place to be. God is love and forgiveness. Humans do not always follow this logic. Caylee is surrounded with love and forgiveness in Heaven. I cannot imagine a beautiful soul walking with God would ever want to be the reason for this kind of anger, judgment or hatred.
I’ve never claimed Casey is innocent because I have no idea until all evidence is presented. Even then, it is not my place to judge her - that’s for God to do! If she is found guilty in a Court of Law, then the legal system will pass judgment and sentencing. There are way too many people using the death of this child for their own means including but not excluding some of the friends of Casey, people claiming to want justice for Caylee, etc.

And you seem to completely miss the point. An insult is an insult, no matter how you disguise it. Calling people names is undignified behavior. You are correct that there are a lot of insults hurled at the Ants and Casey as well. I do not support those either. I agree, we should stick to the facts of the case.
If you have evidence that Casey is not guilty, feel free to present it. I have never seen anything to suggest she is innocent. The defense has provided no defense to this point. However, the prosecution has presented no prosecution either. All the evidence that has been released is that which was collected by Law Enforcement and filed with the County Clerk. It is not ‘the biased evidence of the prosecution’, it is the evidence, the only evidence.
This forum is not a court of law and is not constrained by the rules of evidence. It would be kind of pointless to even have such a forum if we needed to wait until the trial to form an opinion.
Caylee is dead. Someone killed her. Two year old children rarely die spontaneously. Even if Casey did not kill her, she certainly aided in a cover-up by lying about the babysitter and her personal whereabouts and received phone calls for the month Caylee was missing. If you assist in a murder, you are also guilty of murder. She has no way out. No defense will work for her. She will be spending the rest of her life in jail.

Actually, many of us have also heard the conversation that the police had with Maggot the day she (mis)led them to her “office” at Universal studios. In that conversation she spouted one lie after another. That’s on top of not reporting her daughter missing to ANYONE (nevermind the police) for 31 days.
So what does that lead you to believe? That Maggot is the “mother of the year” that her own lying mother would like us to believe?

Hi, Bryan! Yes, that’s been my personal nickname for the skank since early on. It started out as murdering monster maggot but that was a handful to type. She is not deserving of the title normally given due to her biological status and NG’s “Tot Mom” is just too nice. Other more reasonable and sophisticated people will just have to endure or indulge me on this bit of childishness on my part. You may remember that long ago a bunch of us on BNN decided that whatever we called her it would not be her real name. That’s because we did not want to add to her celebrity. We wanted to keep Caylee’s name in the spotlight not “you know who’s” name. That’s why the titles of the articles on BNN use Caylee’s name. But as much as we try, it sure seems like she’s the one being forgotten and her murderer (IMO) and grandparents (pardon me while I upchuck) have taken over.

That boat came from more than $30,000 raised to search for Caylee. For me, that brings up a lot of questions for the Ants:
1) If you were actually searching for Caylee, how is it you had $30k left over? That is a fairly substantial sum to be sitting around while the PI does everything but look for Caylee.
2) If you spent $30k on a boat, it would stand to reason it came from a larger pile of cash because surely you did not blow it all in one grand boat gesture. So, how much more is there?
3) A whole bunch of kids have gone missing since the boat was publicly announced. How many kids have you searched for? How many have you found?
4) How do you justify keeping any of the money that was donated to find Caylee? Do you believe is was given to you to spend as you see fit?
5) How much money has been funnelled to Casey’s defense? There is no doubt in my mind that some of the money donated to find Caylee found it’s way into the clutches of Jose. In essence, the victim has and continues to raise money to defend her killer.

Ever so strangely - like all of this case - the only relatives of the ants that I know of are very much in Caylee’s corner NOT Sindee, G’s, Leevil’s or Maggots! Thank heaven for that. I believe that the people trying to defend the ants are in one or two (or both) camps. One is a group of people who don’t know beans about this case. And the other is a group of people put together by the ants and the Milsteads AND Michelle Barf ALL of whom are literally profiting - as in MAKING MONEY - and building their future careers off of little Caylee’s bones.
This is why I am so unhappy with these extensive delays. As time passes more people will forget what happened, will become interested in the case and NOT read all the evidence from the beginning of it, and think they know enough to defend the ant camp. And the delays also give the ants and their co-conspirators more time to try to influence others.
The trial is not going to be in January, you know. That’s just a status/pre-trial (where are we now?) kind of hearing. Maybe then a date will be set for sometime NEXT SUMMER for the murder trial. So the evil ones have another whole year to try to turn peoples’ heads around and hope that the rest of us will forget or lose interest. I am not going to let Caylee down that way.

Hi, Minnie! Good to “see” you! I’m sure more folks will join. The case has been a bit slow and there have been many changes in how we post on BNN. A bit confusing. But I’m sure no one has forgotten Caylee!

Amy should not hold back with taking Casey to court. First of all, Cindy Anthony was ruthless in her interviews in regards to pointing the finger at Amy and Ricardo as being “the Nanny”. I cannot believe that she has bought into Casey’s conspiracy theory she has somehow lied herself into. Yea… it makes perfect sense, Cindy, that for the entire 2 years “Zanny” has been watching your granddaughter (for free BTW) while Casey has been going to “work”, it has really been Amy or/and Ricardo? Her two friends, one of which was kind enough to loan Casey her car after only knowing her for a relatively short time apparently.
With the accusations from Casey’s mom flying around at Amy H, the sum of some 700 dollars makes for a nice cherry on top. Casey stealing checks from her car that was given to Casey by Amy while she was on a trip and Casey’s car was “in the shop” according to Casey.
Ricardo is Casey’s Ex-boyfriend who actually had Casey and Caylee sleep over at his apartment in June, the 8th or 9th I believe. Ricardo was unfortunate in that being friends with Casey made it possible to be under suspicion of a conspiracy to abduct Caylee and stash her somewhere, being scrutinized by Cindy about his trip to Puerto Rico, in her mind probably wanting the FBI to send SWAT to his poor mothers house, because she cant accept the fact that her daughter has done the most horrible thing in the world, and she raised this girl.
The petty theft trial is just an Eff you to Casey that I would love to see happen. She is worst liar in the world and you can break down everything she says if you just listen. When you hear her interrogation tapes, she tries to tell police that she pointed out an Seniors home center as a place that Zenaida used to live. This was directly across from Ricardo’s apt. and she suggested to cops that she brought them there because it was across from his place. This is evident in that when Det. Yuri M says to her
“you said I brought you there because it was across the street, that’s a lie”
she says right after
“it’s not a lie!”
But then quickly moves on and doesn’t come back to it. If I could have been with her at Universal when she walked the Cops up through a building and down the halls, and finnally turning around… What was she thinking when she was doing that? She had to have know they were going to call her bluff? or is she just that stupid? The fact that they found the body so close to her house in just some bags, tells me that she wasn’t the smartest of criminals. If she was smart, she would have destroyed it or at least thrown it far. She was lucky… dumb luck that nobody found it. She was stupid in the fact that she thought her bluff wasn’t going to get called by cops.. she is stupid enough to say that this lady Zenaida exists when she clearly doesn’t… evident by the fact that the phone records inticate that nobody that cannot be identified called her, basically for the past two years they can see her records, and nobody on her records exists that indicates it was a babysitter as described by Casey.
Then the story to her brother Lee, obviously another attempt to get her family to believe her, she claims another set of events happen at J Blanchard Park, near the Anthony home relative to greater Orlando. An angry Zanny pushed Casey to the ground while another girl, related to Zanny, grabbed Caylee and ran to a car then zoomed off leaving Casey by herself. This is all to teach her a lesson, as described by Cindy to an FBI agent, and she is being taught this for 55 days. This is according to a password she set “timer55″ and is the amount of time in days from her birthday to the day she was last seen by her grandfather, George. Cindy also explained it could be 55 days from any time before Casey was arrested because she had access. This is so Cindy’s theory can still be alive for a few more days in her mind.
The denial that they are in should have been over with, and the grieving process for them should be moving on now over a year and some change down the road. Its got to be tough, but the way they involved themselves in this at the beginning, especially Cindy, she should not be so outraged when going to a court proceeding. Especially when it is her fault that the lady from Kissimmee is in that situation. Yes, Cindy, after telling Casey in a jail video
“they told us you couldn’t pick that girl out of a line up, didn’t they show you a picture?” - - - talking about the Zenaida Gonzales from Kissimmee
Casey says “Not Once!”
and Cindy, knowing something to be different from what the Cops have told her to be true, goes onto television to say to the millions of captivated viewers that her daughter Casey was never shown pictures of anyone and that she has offered to help police in any ways, its just that she doesn’t trust the local police.
Can you believe that? She doesn’t “Trust” the local police? Are you kidding, what kind of an excuse is more incriminating? George obviously know that his daughter and granddaughter are no longer with him.
He even said in an interview “if I’ve lost my granddaughter…. I’ve lost my daughter too” conceding to the cop that he realizes that if Caylee was dead, then his daughter was probably the one who did it.

I wish they would have went after her about the phone in the second interview, the one at Universal when she led them into the building to the office she didn’t have.
Where is this phone?
She said “I filled out an incident report with security” to the officers about her phone being “stolen” from her “desk”. All of which cannot take place without her actually having an office and a desk to get the phone stolen from, not to mention the job to go to…..
They should have asked about this whole SIM card lie… having the Zenaida phone numbers on, along with the two other people’s phone numbers, Juliette Lewis, and Jeffrey (Michael) Hopkins (to be confused with a person that Casey knows from High school who’s middle name isn’t Michael)
This lie being talked about could have yielded more answers that Casey would have had to deepen herself in more lies to have to bob and weave around.
If the police asked her about this phone she was talking about before, with all the numbers on it for the people she talked to, she would have had to admit that the phone didn’t exist. She kind of does, by saying
“there is no office, there is no anything… so”
But with the focus on the fact that there was no phone to have gotten stolen because there was no job, and she lied about filling out an incident report, then the phone doesn’t exist.. If the phone doesn’t exist, then how is it that she has been able to call Zanny?
This means that she does not have any phone number in her only phone for the nanny, or any of the other people she said she called during the time she was doing her own “investigation”.
If she couldn’t give authorities numbers for her friends Juliette Lewis and Jeffrey M. Hopkins because she didn’t remember them, how could she have called them at all? The truth of the matter is, she made it all up.
Jeffrey Michael Hopkins is a made up name. Casey just pulled a name of someone she knew out of her head, and added a middle name that was different. I believe that she had recently made it all up in her head, and was repeating it into the recorder for the detective. The way she speaks sounds as if she just got done explaining the story and was asked to do it again for the recorder, and she got really nervous. Up until this point, I think she was sticking with her story because she believed if she did, the cops were just going to leave and say “let us know if she turns up”.
She didn’t realize that lying to the police gets you thrown in jail, she thought that since Caylee is only her “problem” police would probably just move on, evident by the research she did on missing children a few months before…. probably checking the rate of success for finding missing kids…. (this is all speculation)
So the phone issue was a big ball drop on LE that day in my opinion and I think that would have produced some new intel that could have been used in this mostly circumstantial capital case.
