I don’t understand the American cult of mindless shopping.  I buy clothes so people don’t have to see me naked and for little other reason than that.  I spend my money on books that inform me, on movies that educate and entertain me and on biking gear because I need to have one hobby that gets me outside.  Other than eating and surviving, I spend no money.  It simply doesn’t make sense to me.  I know people who shop all the time, just so they are able to have new things and feel special or whatever sick reason drives them.  But now you can watch a movie about that insane phenomenon in a brand new format!

Starting this June 23rd, now available on Blu-ray Disc from Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Touchstone Films Home Entertainment comes the story of a woman who loves to shop but falls in love along the way.  Confessions Of A Shopaholic – Blu-ray Disc is ready to charge right out of your television screen and overwhelm your living room with a great tale of love, designer goods and personal finances.  Bring home this wonderful movie in high definition today!

Rebecca Bloomwood moved to New York City to pursue her dream of being a writer at a fashion magazine.  She doesn’t get that job, but she still has a craving for designer goods, so she maxes out all her credit cards in the pursuit of that dream.  Since she really has to get a job, she ends up working at a finance magazine, irony of ironies.  While there, she begins a very popular column and falls in love with a great guy.  But will a secret of hers unravel everything?  This movie stars Isla Fisher, Hugh Dancy, Joan Cusack, Kristin Scott Thomas, John Lithgow, Krysten Ritter and John Goodman and was directed by P.J. Hogan.

The special features included in this Blu-ray Disc are a digital copy of this film for your portable media devices, some great featurettes about the making of this movie and the fashion inside of it, a music video from Jordyn Taylor, a music video from Trey Songz, a great selection of hilarious bloopers, some delightful deleted scenes and a music video from Shontelle featuring Akon.

This movie is billed as a comedy and there were parts of it that were indeed very funny.  I will not detract from that aspect of it at all.  But the greatest thing that this movie offered, as do many these days, is the promise of wish fulfillment.  None of us are going to live in Manhattan, none of us are going to wear all of the designers, none of us are going to meet and fall in love successfully with someone so gorgeous and, at the rate things are going now, no one will ever again be a real journalist.  But this movie offers us a glimpse at all of those things, so we can pretend it’s real and that makes it worth it.  Movies are supposed to be our guilty pleasure, so although I didn’t love this movie, I can completely understand why someone would and I’m happy that have.  Isla Fisher is gorgeous and plays a wonderful part, but the real show stealer is John Goodman, simply because of the fact that he is John Goodman.  Bring it home today and you will love seeing this story in high definition.

Go ahead and Confess that you love this movie, no one here will judge you.

This Blu-ray Disc is available at Amazon.com.
