I have lived in China and Taiwan for 10 years (I am caucasian). I now speak Mandarin better than most Chinese. I love Chinese culture (I have written over a dozen heavy rock songs in Chinese). HOWEVER, I can't stand Chinese people. So, people ask me, why do you want to learn Chinese and live in China? Like I said, liking culture is different from liking people. The language and history of China is amazing, but I can't stand the people. So living in China is a love/hate relationship for me. I fully agree, and I have proof.
