Is it "race" or someone from a similar culture?

People feel more comfortable when their friends and marriage partners have similar opinions and points of view. But this crosses racial lines, as my multiracial but pious Christian family shows.

What you are actually describing is racism pure and simple, which s alas alive and well, and not just in the US.

I fully agree, and I have proof. I have lived in China and Taiwan for 10 years (I am caucasian). I now speak Mandarin better than most Chinese. I love Chinese culture (I have written over a dozen heavy rock songs in Chinese). HOWEVER, I can't stand Chinese people.
So, people ask me, why do you want to learn Chinese and live in China? Like I said, liking culture is different from liking people. The language and history of China is amazing, but I can't stand the people. So living in China is a love/hate relationship for me.
