This is a long overdue article on the subject. While the Main Stream Media lost interest in this case months ago, there are a few of us that have stuck with it. The MSM flit from disaster to disaster, the latest being the demise of Michael Jackson. Jackson was billed as the king of pop. I have to disagree, Jackson had a few hits, but he hardly moved the industry forward. Did he write any of the lyrics? Did he compose any of the music? A resounding NO. Did Jackson stiff people as far as money goes, well yes he did.
Haleigh Cummings was just 5 years old when she disappeared 5 months ago. She had never scammed anyone, well other than a candy bar or two. I don’t have any proof, and I just have to go with my gut feel that Haleigh was just a regular 5 year old. No Ponzi schemes, maybe the odd ‘I need this candy for a school project’ scheme played against some unsuspecting adult, but it was harmless. Just a small young child trying to grow up in the environment she found herself in.
As I mentioned, we are coming up on the 5 month anniversary of her disappearance. The group of us that are keeping her name out there has dwindled. One can only assume that the Law Enforcement effort has also shrunk.
About the only thing that has increased, is the idiocy from the blogosphere. I for one am a big fan of the ‘Citizen Journalist’, it makes a huge amount of sense. The Internet has opened up the news world to everyone. You are no longer shackled by the views of the MSM, there are alternative voices.
Are they right? Well sometimes they are. The Haleigh Cummings case is a great example. People do their best to ensure the accuracy of the information provided, but some sites do little if nothing to check the accuracy of the comments that people leave. Even Emmy winning journalists allow anarchy on their sites.
It was for that reason that we shut down the comment ability on certain threads, instead pointing people at a strongly policed forum site. It was not a decision that we made lightly, but one that had to be made.
It is high time that people got their heads out of grumbling online, and spent some time resolving the case. Quite frankly I doubt that anyone cares who payed the child support to Ronald Cummings. Does this have any bearing on the case? No not at this time! As far as I am concerned it could be the Tooth Fairy, quite honestly I don’t care.
Does anyone care about the allegations that Kim Picazio maybe played in some dark pools? NO but that doesn’t mean we won’t once Haleigh is found.
Does anyone care about Kim Picazio’s husbands business interests? NO, not yet, that is a whole different ballgame.
This whole case has become mired in the stories that are floating around. Oh, do not get me wrong, I am planning on following up on all of the side shows, but I will keep that until we solve the primary case. Where is Haleigh?
Maybe if everyone concentrated on the question “Where is Haleigh” this would move forward. Of course that would be too simple. It is much better to bicker online. At least we at BNN have the guts to use our own names, we do not need to hide behind aliases!

It has begun to look like that no one in her family even cares anymore! I care, and whether she is dead or alive, this child needs to be accounted for!!! I have also been interested in the Caylee Anthony tradgedy, but she has been accounted for. LE & the media need to concentrate on a child that something can be done for;there is nothing further that can be done for Caylee! Just let her murdering mom out of jail onto the streets & people waiting out there will take care of the rest of it!!
As far as a custody case for Haleigh’s bio mom,to hell with that! It would seem that her primary interest should be finding her daughter! She doesn’t care anymore about the child than Ronald Cummings does! They are all a bunch of low-lifes that have been raised to believe that if you are not fighting with someone, you are not living!! Find Haleigh & if she is still living, give her to someone who will love her! It certainly seems that both of her parents have other things they want to be doing!!
Be damned if I’ll live in Florida. Parents messed up, kids dead, cops brain dead. Poor kid, I’m sure enough righteous citizens would rise up if the perp was caught (but, they don’t seem to live in her neighborhood)
Great article Simon. Thanks for keeping Haleigh in the forefront. I think BNN are about the only ones. So be it. Just keep putting this beautiful babe on the news. Keep her in the foreground, in our thoughts. Somehow, some way, she will be found despite the inane sideshows.

Simon.. I agree with your remarks about the “circus” that surrounds the Haleigh Cummings disappearance. I have posted on this site many times in regard to just that fact. I have said time and again that I don’t care about all the peripheral garbage, but, sadly, so many posters on different internet blogs feed off the garbage and little Haleigh has been lost in this mess.
That said.. I feel that comparing Haleigh’s disappearance coverage to Michael Jackson’s death coverage is like comparing apples to oranges.
One is a one time deal, the other is .. SHOULD.. be an ongoing investigation.
Also.. I believe you made an error in your article by stating that Michael Jackson didn’t write any of his songs. While I assume you were not a MJ fan, this might be why you made that error.
Its a fact that MJ wrote many .. MANY.. of his own songs and was deeply involved in the music composition and production.
Again… I agree that the Haleigh coverage should continue and am disappointed that the mainstream media has let her fall by the wayside.
Someday, lets hope that a clue will spark a fire that will bring Haleigh back, even if its only to let her rest in dignified peace.
The focus on Haleight’s mom, Crystal Sheffield is totally misplaced. I believe that her actions have helped bring the investigation to a standstill. It’s a shame that the petty bickering takes priority to finding the beautiful child Haleigh. May God watch over her.

I see no reason to decry the media attention to MJ as he is deserving of recognition.

We are all so confused as to where or how Haleigh disappeared. Each time I think I have a possible solution in my head, I realize I am wrong.

I have been reading your forum for months!I have never commented but i feel that i need to. I love what you guys are doing! I just dont understand why the family isnt out in the media making pleas for help to find there lil girl! I have two children and am only 23 years old but my kids come first and always will! If my children were missing i would fight till no one would listen to me anymore! Please Chrystal and Ronald this is about your little daughter! Even if you have made mistakes in the past its ok please just put everything between you aside and fight for your little angel, your miracle, your pride and joy!

I do care about Haleigh,and I understand the intent of the article which was to say that we need more media attention to missing children,but I don’t understand how trashing the deceased will help Haleigh get the attention she and other missing children need.
If you’re going to insult someone,at least make sure it’s based on factual information.The truth is that MJ did write his songs.Truth is MJ wasn’t found guilty in a court of law of any wrong doing.
As long as some continue to love the dirt….the media will continue to dish it out.

Now that we have this cleared, I just want to say, I have been praying and following this blogger since I first learned of Haleigh missing. Being a mother myself of a 5yr old girl, my concern is with deep sincerity.
For those of us who are still following this issue—pray that the Lord will give someone a lead to her location.

Hurling insults at commentors really is rude, since the comment section of an article doesn’t give instructions as to which parts of the article should receive comments.
So, to call commentors “idiots” and say “the only thing we took from the article was to cry about some pervert, etc.” shows you didn’t really read or comprehend the original article or see the relevance of the comments to that article.
That sort of “attack” on other commentors is just what is trying to be avoided. Lets leave it at that.
