uh, Kevin, in politics everyone "trots out" their family.

Does that justify ridiculing the mentally challenged, as some of Palin's enemies have done?

Hubert Humphrey even "trotted out" his grandchild who suffered from Down's syndrome when he was running for president, and no one attacked his family for not putting the kid in an institution (which was the "normal" practice" back then).

1968 was a rough campaign year, but even then I never saw family members attacked as Palin was.

Nonsense. She trotted out her family and now is playing the ultimate victim card. Hopefully, she will go back to doing what she does best and leave serious adults alone.

Thanks for your insightful post. I will add that these attacks towards both Hillary and Sarah have a lot to do with their gender. A man with the same characteristics: hard working, ambitious, determined and unapologetic is praised whereas a woman in scorned. Lot of the women who criticize Hillary and Sarah are just green with jealousy, just look at Maureen Dowd and Ariana Huffington.
