According to People Magazine, actress Farrah Fawcett is still hospitalized in a Los Angeles hospital fighting her battle with anal cancer. She was first diagnosed with it in 2006.
The source for People’s Magazine said, “There was a moment last week when she was supposed to be released and was going home but things changed.” The source also said she is clearly not doing well.
Actor Ryan O’Neal, 68 has stood by her bedside constantly during this stay in the hospital, in fact in an interview he did with Barbara Walters, he said that he has asked Farrah to marry him even though she continues to fight for her life and her answer was yes. The two of them they have one son, 24 year old Redmond O’Neal.
O’Neal says they plan to marry as soon as they can. “I used to ask her to marry me all the time,” O’Neal told Barbara Walters in their interview. “But… it just got to be a joke you know. We just joked about it.”
He says now that Farrah who is 62 now, is deteriorating from the cancer that he promises they will get married, absolutely.
She was declared free of the cancer on her 60th birthday after she had received chemotherapy and surgery. She had said in a statement to the press, “This is an extraordinary happy day for me and my family. I hope that my news might offer some level of inspiration to others who unfortunately continue to fight the disease.”
Then less than four months later she was told that a malignant polyp was found in the area that she previously had been treated for the cancer. She was told this was inoperable and she would require a colostomy but she decided to travel to German where she received treatments which were described as holistic, aggressive and alternative. Although the tumors seemed to be regressing they came back a few months later and her battle still continues with the cancer.
I remember Farrah in movies such as the Burning Bed which she received her first Emmy Award nomination and the movie version of Extremities, but I think she is better known as her part in the hit TV series, Charlie’s Angels where she played one of the original Angels, Jill Munroe, which aired from 1976 to 1981 and it was one of the most successful series in the 80’s.
Farrah was born in Corpus Christi, Texas where her father was an oil field contractor. Her first TV appearance was on the hit TV show with Barbara Eden and Larry Hagman, ‘I Dream of Jeannie’ . She has appeared as a guest on other shows such as Owen Marshall: Counselor at Law and The Six Million Dollar Man with Lee Majors, who she was once married to from 1973 – 1982 even though they had separated in 1979.
Farrah Fawcett has a lot of fans and I for one will keep her in my prayers. I admire her strength for all she has gone through with her illness. It takes a very strong person to fight for their life as she has done. I can only pray that her fight will continue only to be a success one day. If she loses this battle America will lose a fine lady. So Farrah keep on fighting and know that you have a lot of fans out there praying for you and with you.
