I really enjoyed your review, if for no other reasons than the inclusion of the phrase "verbal furbelows" and your discussion about the parenthetical phrases and grammar. You are so correct about the quality of book editing! One of my brothers (who actually reads just about anything) likes Westerns a great deal, and I'm going to send him the link to your review.

Louis L'Amour is definitely a giant in the genre. For another fun Western, give The Shopkeeper by James Best a look. Steve Dancy has given up the NY shopkeeper life and is looking (and finding!) adventure in the 1879 Old West. Remember the old television series "The Virginian?" Think that, only updated for the 21st Century.

Enjoy! (By the way, there's more than one Steve Dancy novel.)
