Inmates at one facility have been given the opportunity to better themselves in terms of their skills and knowledge by being offered a range of courses that could ultimately get them into a career when they are released from prison.

The educational opportunities are being offered to inmates at the Maximum Security Facility of the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston, Rhode Island. The courses will be offered in conjunction with the Community College of Rhode Island, with classes being available five days a week.

There are a number of courses that inmates will be able to choose from, and this includes training in asbestos abatement. The dangers of asbestos exposure have resulted in a high level of stringency with regards to training for those working with asbestos, and the training in asbestos abatement for inmates could lead to a well paid career in a specialist field.

The risks associated with exposure to asbestos mean that those that are going to work in this sector need to have proper training and be certified, so the training will put inmates on a far better footing if they want to get involved in asbestos abatement.
