It has been revealed that a number of former railroad workers are seeking compensation from a number of railroad companies, claiming that they were exposed to a number of toxic substances during the course of their work, including the deadly carcinogenic, asbestos, which can cause a range of health problems such as asbestos related cancer.
There are four former railroad workers in all that are seeking compensation, and they are looking for nearly one and a half million dollars in damages from the railroad companies. The workers claim that the exposure has resulted in them developing asbestosis.
Asbestosis is a condition that is caused by exposure to asbestos, and whilst it is not a fatal or cancerous disease it is a chronic respiratory condition that can cause shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. It can also lead to the asbestos related cancer mesothelioma, according to reports.
The four former workers who have filed the lawsuit are Gerald Abbott, Carl Cory, Ronald Franklin, and Thomas Wright. They all claim that the defendant companies failed to protect them against exposure to toxic substances, which led to their health problems.
