Daniel Craig as James BondThe next James Bond film is to be penned by a triumvirate of writers that now includes Peter Morgan, Variety is reporting. Morgan has been added to the existing pair of Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. They wrote the last two Bond films, Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale, with Due South creator and Crash writer/director Paul Haggis. Morgan’s previous credits include the critically acclaimed Frost/Nixon, The Last King of Scotland and The Queen.

The as-yet-untitled next 007 adventure will be the 23rd film in the ‘official’ series. Daniel Craig is already set to reprise his role as 007, the Variety report says. Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli will produce through EON Productions. The release date is expected to be in 2011.

“Peter, Neal and Robert are extraordinarily talented and we’re looking forward to working with the three of them,” Wilson and Broccoli said in a statement.

In addition to writing film scripts, Morgan is also a renowned playwright. Moreover, Variety reported late last year that he is soon to make his film directing debut with a follow-up to The Queen tentatively titled The Special Relationship.
