I’m sure I’ve said this before, but I adore Cold Way spy movies.  All the uncertainty, all those winding back streets in dirty parts of Europe, all the twists and quintuple crosses.  Who can’t love a movie like that?  And although those days are past, it’s still a nice escape to watch a movie so full of uncertainty, because it helps the uncertainties we have to live with (family, job, money, health, car, how our baseball team will play tonight, why my 401k doesn’t exist any more) seem a little less deadly because a priest didn’t just try to stab us with a knife he pulled out of a Virgin Mary statue.  Bring home one of the classics of the genre in a brand new format today!

Starting this May 19th, now available on Blu-ray Disc from Paramount Studios Home Entertainment comes the high-definition release of one of the classic Cold War spy films about a man who is told to come in but everyone is too busy trying to take him out.  Three Days Of The Condor – Blu-ray Disc is ready to sneak out of your television screen and flood your entire living room with a dose of good old Cold War paranoia, double-crossing and never knowing who your friends really are.  Bring home this delightfully out  of date classic today!

Joe Turner is a CIA agent in New York City, code-named Condor.  He hates the cloak and dagger stuff and is just a simply analyst.  Then everyone in his office is murdered while he’s out to lunch.  He calls the CIA and they come to bring him in, but his contact tries to kill him.  Now Condor has no one left he can trust, so he sets off on a three day quest to stay alive and find out why they are trying to kill him.  Can he succeed on both parts?  This movie stars Robert Redford, Faye Dunaway, Cliff Robertson and Max Von Sydow and was directed by Sydney Pollack.

The special features included in this Blu-ray Disc are the fact that it’s high definition, subtitles in English, French and Spanish and the original theatrical trailer.

This movie is just a delight.  Robert Redford is, as usual, fantastic in this role.  Max Von Sydow is also wonderfully amoral and deadly in his role and is actually usually who I think of when a Cold War era assassin comes to mind.  It’s also very nice to see a twisting spy thriller take place in an American city, which only makes the bizarre and deadly parts of his three days on the run seem that more out of place.  This film was strangely prescient about plots to take over and run oil fields, especially considering soldiers from our American streets are dying in the Middle East to accomplish that exact same task.  This film was a warning, a look at a future where hopefully nothing like that could ever happen.  Too bad we weren’t listening.

You don’t need Three reasons why, just get this movie today!

This Blu-ray Disc is available at Amazon.com.
