The pain and suffering of her family is more than damaging, it is life altering. It sounds as if her surviving family will be creating a legacy she would be proud of. I hope they can turn this into a positive force in their lives. I am very sad to hear that the hospital was unable to fulfill a dying woman's requests and that her children and partner suffered this loss without the moments they truly needed and deserved to say goodbye. I'm surprised that the hospital was so unwilling to bend the rules. Especially when the patient, Lisa Pond, gave prior written directives essentially requesting that the people she saw as family be present (implied by the will, advanced directives, and power-of-attorney) I would hope that I could have anyone I wished present during my last moments.
