Without a Paddle [Blu-ray]

I have never been white water rafting, or rafting of any sort other than those little inflatable ones you have as a kid.  But I do like a good comedy movie every now and again.  And when you mix the two together, it actually turns out pretty good, especially when it’s now available in a brand new format.

Starting this May 12th, now available on Blu-ray Disc from Paramount Studios Home Entertainment comes a great story of friendship, treasure and some fantastic adventure.  Without A Paddle – Blu-ray Disc is ready to come streaming out of television screen and bring a world of watery adventure into your living room in great new high definition.  Bring home this surprisingly good and enjoyable comedy today!

Four childhood friends have drifted apart as the years went on.  But when one of the four unexpectedly dies, they are reunited in mourning.  The three remaining friends discover that their friend was searching for the missing money that D.B. Cooper stashed somewhere in the wilderness.  When they find a map he had drawn, they decide to follow it on a wild chase through some great white water rafting to try and find the loot.  But along the way, they run into a motherly bear, some gun loving marijuana farmers and some beautiful tree huggers.  This movie stars Seth Green, Matthew Lillard, Dax Shepard, Ethan Suplee and Burt Reynolds and was directed by Steven Brill.

The special features included in this Blu-ray Disc are an optional audio commentary by director Steven Brill, video commentary by the cast and director, MTV’s look at the making of this movie, six promos from MTV, the original theatrical trailer and 13 hilarious deleted scenes with optional audio commentary from the director.

I know there are some haters out there when it comes to this movie.  To be honest, their dislike is completely understandable.  Matthew Lillard is not exactly an acting juggernaut and Dax Shepard certainly has his failings.  Seth Green is pretty much perfect, both because he is a master of comic timing and because he is the mind behind Robot Chicken.  He’s always enjoyable and the other two are just usually enjoyable.  But this is a very good movie.  It’s funny, there are sentimental moments and it will certainly keep you entertained.  If you come in expecting some Paul Thomas Anderson style hilarity or a Wes Anderson darkly comic view of the world, you will be disappointed.  But Seth Green carries this movie and certainly makes it worth watching, especially in high definition.  I’d recommend bringing this movie home today.

Don’t be caught Without this hilarious movie!
