Employees at the Washington DC headquarters of NBC have been warned by management that a part of the building has asbestos present. The warning was issued earlier this week, and employees were told that asbestos was present on the first floor of the building.

The management at NBC informed staff about the danger by e-mail, and according to reports the e-mail read: “Please be advised that we have discovered that glue on the back of baseboard material in the first floor across the back of the buildings has been found to contain asbestos.”

The area where the asbestos was found had been the location for a new WRC news room. Chuck Todd, political director and chief White House correspondent for NBC News, Lisa Myers, senior investigative correspondent for NBC Nightly News, and the WRC sports crew had previously used this area.

The e-mail also went on to reassure staff that areas outside of the contaminated are would also be tested and monitored “to insure that there are no airborne fibers.”
