Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackBeing a twin also on the autism spectrum, unlike the both of you I am not identical, but I am diagnosed now with Aspergers and other associated conditions, my twin brother lets just say a big possible as being on the autism spectrum, but chooses just to be, as says he may be different but thats just him, I agree that its not about any label, but feel important we understand ourselves so know how we impact on others. We were both brought up in London, he now lives outside of London near the coast and myself live in New Zealand, we both have children on the autism spectrum and many differences and diversities throughout our extended family.
Since being diagnosed a few years ago I have been on my own journey, as when I was first diagnosed very few people for me to turn to here in NZ, so I started up my own web site and support forum Aspergers Parallel Planet, http://www.asplanet.info and I now advocate and promote positive awareness worldwide, as feel more and more individuals are transit and this is an issue thats the same across the globe, as ignorance damages individuals and I truly hate to think of any other person living in the shadows of life for as long as I did, I was not diagnosed until in my forties.. a few years ago.
Good luck with your book and being a twin I will get around to reading one day, not a huge reader as I have various intellectual learning / neurological differences i.e. dyslexia, dyspraxia etc… I am in the process of writing my own book, which no easy feat with all my differences, plus time a big factor as the more I reach out, the more my email box fills up, but I am determine to get there, as feel the more of us on the autism spectrum that do reach out the better as all my best advice, support has come from those on the autism spectrum as they really understand.
From a very proud Autistic individuals…
