One night in August, I was working. A little boy left his nearby family and walked over to me, standing there, watching me play, as they often did. I always asked what their favorite song was, and if I knew it, I would play it for them. (I usually knew it, and they loved that!) He said RUDOLPH!

RUDOLPH THE RED NOSE RAINDEER - IN AUGUST? Uh oh! I HAD to play that for this cute little guy, I had to. I announced “THIS IS A SPECIAL REQUEST for ERIC!” (The people in the room saw this little guy standing beside me - they knew.) All was cool, I thought. I had taken care of my whole BIG room. He decided to sit on my bench beside me. Then people started peeking in the double doors from the overflow crowd in the center hall to see who this NUT CASE was who was playing RUDOLPH - in AUGUST. EVEN MY BOSS looked in! More desperate now, I tried to save face because they couldn’t see little Eric who was sitting beside me on my bench! LOUDLY THRU MY MIC - I said “THIS IS A SPECIAL REQUEST FOR LITTLE ERIC. Um … HE’S 5!” I had to do that about 2-3 more times. He was worth it!

What I Did For Love (of my job - that’s what the tune really is about - our Art).

I could recognize Douglas Firs after living her 3 weeks. My husband taught me. He sold lumber - had his own company and was the CEO too.
Great businessman. Got to work at 5:30AM every morning. Started making his business calls at 6:00AM - which was 9:00AM on the East Coast. Worked his way out west during the day. Lovely, lovely product. Clean. Always loved wooden things, toys, etc. Back home, unhealthy air, many factories close together near the Expressway spewing black smoke and dumping their waste into our brown rivers.

Ha ha I could even do Jerry Lee Lewis but never would - on the job - you know foot on the keyboard, etc. I could do Night Train and the Stripper too … but … sometimes in a 4* room, it didn’t seem to fit, I felt. LOL.
Tried to have some dignity - the rooms required it, I thought. Ha, might be my style, not sure.

Beth, I read that post. It hurt my heart … you are a winner and if I don’t get back to you next Sunday, HAPPY, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO A REAL GREAT MOMMY!!!!! A TRUE SURVIVOR! I am too, slightly different.

Heart about Dr. Spoke, yes, his book was nuts. My MIL tried to push it on me, my SIL used it- she raised anti-christs.

Val what you said about not embarrassing your folks, you betcha, better conduct yourself in an certain manner, then the world shifted & it was the kids who were not to be embarrassed & the parents who were to walk the line??

Not sure when this happened, but those books about LOSS can be helpful. Go to Borders, or Barnes & Noble where you can read one while you sit in one of those big comfy chairs. Even have some about losing a four legged friend …

CAPY Dr. Spock truly was behind a lot of this “mememe” thing I believe. I read his book and thought WHAT?? I would be making a SPOILED BRAT I thought. I would like to pick up a copy after all these years to revisit it. I believe he was telling us not to do/say anything … it might UPSET them!! I didn’t think my little one was qualified to run our house.

Is that how we got a CASEY??? Is she a product of Dr. Spock? Anybody have a copy on hand to look at? I only used the back portion of the book - the medical things. I thought that over 20 years ago, and have heard others say it - on TV.

I spoke to the Principal of the Special School where my Stalker went. Raised sans ANY RULES!!! NONE!!! He went to the highly respected, Wordsworth Academy, lived there the first year. We talked a few times on the phone. I told her about his home life and mother, and she said “These children are not born that way, they are CREATED.” So on and on … it goes. He has been in jail at least once, I heard. THE REAL DEAL, now. He is over 21 I think now. So sad isn’t it ….?

When I first joined in comments here, pickles knows how old I am, and she said “boy, I bet you have seen a lot in your day” (or something to that effect. I said I hadn’t seen anything like nowadays and maybe the media just didn’t report then.

I’ve changed my mind. Things are bad NOW. Maybe things move too fast now, may be people are self-centered and only think about mememe, something is going on. And, then, when you just about want to get off the planet, we must remember that most people are good and that a few rotten apples are not going to spoil the whole bunch.
