I am a Catholic who attended 12 years of Catholic Schools. I witnessed Fr. Jenkins's drooling and fawning introduction of Obama at Notre Dame. It felt like a pubescent girl was introducing a beloved matinee idol, rather than the president of a prestigious university introducing a commencement speaker. It was totally limpwristed, and disrespectful to Catholics everywhere, in that it did nothing to glorify Jesus or the Church. I see Obama as a person who may persuade many, but he is akin to the ruler of Judea who ordered the killing of innocents at the time of Jesus's birth. I remember when Obama was in the Illinois legislature, he chose a woman's intent to abort a baby, over the rights of a baby born alive. "It's o.k. to kill" the clayfooted idol said, "because it would be a hardship on the doctors who have a directive from the mother to abort." How a Catholic can approve of Obama, a man who has shown no contrition, but is arrogant and proud of this mortal sin against God, and humanity, is beyond me. What can Catholics learn from this man? Nothing. Fr. Jenkins said it's o.k. for Catholics to admire a proponent of infanticide. What I saw on May 18, 2009 at Notre Dame was the Abomination speaking at a holy temple to Our Lady. Where are the valiant Maccabees who rebelled, when the false god Zeus was placed in the holy temple of God. Certainly, we know the effete and effiminate leaders like Fr.Jenkins will be worshipping at the feet of the idol. Fr. Jenkins please resign.

I find it very difficult to accept covering up our identity as Christians and Catholics. This is our identity. If we are to be tolerate, why shouldn/t tolerance go in both directions. Telling anyone who we are is a God given and constitutional given right. Are we to hide or are we to go forth and profess and live our faith? This action of covering up any Christian symbols is a direct violation of what we are suppose to be as living human beings. Anyone who would allow this type actions is not portraying a Christian identity and surly cannot be a representative of Catholic principles. The invitation should be withdrawn if we cannot say who we are. Should we be a showcase of nonchristian ideals so we can be supportive of a politicial who clearly has great problems with our valuses and principles. Please reconsider how we are suppressing our Christian-Catholic identity.
