A woman from the UK has sworn that she will work to raise awareness about the potentially deadly carcinogenic, asbestos, after losing her husband earlier this year to the asbestos related cancer known as mesothelioma.

Sixty year old Mic Keogh died from the asbestos related disease after being exposed to asbestos during the course of his work. In a statement that he wrote before his death he said that he had worked on the restoration of a building roof, and his statement read: “Much of the stuff which exploded ended up on the roof. I can remember seeing quite a lot of asbestos on the roof – this was ripped out. This work was eight hour shifts – six, seven days a week. We removed quite a lot of roof felting which fell apart as it broke – we threw it down on the floor.”

His partner stated: “God must have been showing off when he made Mic.

“He was unique to everyone he came across – I made promises that I would walk in his shoes.”

She added: “I hope his death won’t be in vain – I am going to launch a campaign with pamphlets. It won’t be just Mic, there will be lots of others in Preston who will be affected by this over the coming years – I want to warn other people. It has not just killed Mic, it has killed me.”
