I think it’s hilarious when you look at what companies control other famous franchises.  For instance, Quaker, as in the religious guy who likes the oatmeal, controls a whole bevy of toy lines and other popular items with kids.  Then there’s Hasbro, a toy company whose toys which transformed ended up becoming so popular Michael Bay has now made two movies about them.  Finally, in one of my personal favorites, American Greetings, a greeting card company, owns Strawberry Shortcake.  How hilarious is that?  You can find out on DVD right now!

Starting this March 31st, now available on DVD from American Greetings, Cookie Jar Entertainment and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment comes the next chapter in the exciting lives of the sugary sweet redhead and all her desert named friends.  Strawberry Shortcake – Berry Big Journeys is ready to travel right out of your television screen and fill your living room with more adventure and excitement than you just might be ready to handle.  Bring home this great continuation of friendships and life today!

Strawberry Shortcake and all her other sugary friends are back in this great new adventure.  They are loading up the car for a great road trip and want you to come with them as they overcome obstacles and learn a whole lot about friendship and life in general.  See, Strawberry bet Pie Man that she could make it around the whole world in 80 days and so off she goes.  But it’s not as easy as she had hoped.  Will everything still turn out okay for Strawberry and the rest of the crew from Strawberryland?

The special features included in this DVD are a memory book of the different characters in the movie, some great printable coloring pages and even three great new greeting cards.  I don’t really know any kids who would find it dominant that there were greeting cards in a DVD, but when you’re American Greetings, I suppose you need to do what you’re good at.

This movie was pretty good.  I like the way they riffed off of Around The World In 80 Days, which was a book I enjoyed thoroughly back when I was a child.  There are of course many important and very good lessons about sharing and caring and friendship throughout the whole movie.  The animation is very cute and certainly, almost in a sexist manner, designed to appeal to girls.  But in the end, it’s great and very entertaining story and who doesn’t love a redhead?  Your kids will enjoy this movie – I guarantee it.

You’ll enjoy this DVD, Big time.

This DVD is available at Amazon.com.
