It was another lively hour of talk radio at its very best. Our panel consisted of Jan Barrett, Ms Pickles, and the always interesting Denny Griffin.
There was a lot to talk about this week. The Caylee Anthony case has captured the hearts of many. A poor defenseless two year old toddler ends up dead, placed in a couple of trash bags, and thrown into a swampy area. Agatha Christie writes complex stories about murder, this one though is deceptively simple, and mother Casey Anthony sits firmly behind bars.
Of course Casey Anthony is shouting ‘I am innocent’ and much of the evidence released to date has been circumstantial, but there are precious few that support her claims. She has her dysfunctional family, and the legal ‘Dream team’ that are claiming ‘pro bono’ all the way to the BMW dealership. Lawyers are like leeches, you can bet your bottom dollar there is ‘blood’ involved.
Our show looks at some of the major events from the past week. George and Cindy Anthony (tot moms parents) were finally forced into depositions involved in a civil case. Both put on ‘spectacular’ performances. As Denny and I discussed on air, a deposition is not a fun thing to participate in, it is adversarial, it is an opportunity for a fishing expedition. However, it is part of the legal process, and has legal implications. Chewing gum, being rude, and otherwise being objectionable is most likely going to come back and bite you.
The ‘depos’ clearly show just how educated these dysfunctional grandparents are!
Also up for discussion, was it right that cop Richard Cain should lose his job?
The Bat Boat, a glorious piece of $30k worth of junk, and that $30k could have been better used by an organization like Tim Miller’s Equusearch.
400 pages of evidence were released on three DVD’s, there was a minor slip though. The audio of Casey Anthony’s reaction to being told about the discovery of a small body close to the Anthony home.
Will this slip be a problem for the prosecution?

I don’t think it was a slip. If you remember, Baezhole only put in the motion about the VIDEO of her reaction not to be public, not the audio. But also, if they asked for it not to be published and the media didn’t listen, then shame on the media. We are ALL human, and accidents DO happen. And with a case like this, it’s very hard I’m sure. Look at all the so-called mistakes Baezhole and his team has made. But like I said, Baezhole only asked for a motion on the video of her reaction not to be public, NOT the audio. So it’s all good.

Simon, I listened to your show and you were all dead on about most things.
One little correction, though. The audio that was released consisted of interviews with the two jail employees who witnessed Casey’s reactions. At no time was there audio of her reactions released.
As pointed out earlier, Baez’s motion deals with the video. That was NOT released.
Actually there was audio of her reaction released. BUT!, The audio isn’t what Baez had a motion about. It was the video he didn’t want released. That’s why I say it won’t hurt Prosecution. A female and Male in audio talked about her reaction.

Paw69, seems we are on the same page. However, it isn’t an audio of Casey’s reactions (ie. it’s not audio of Casey herself). These audios are interviews of the people who were there and their versions of how Casey reacted.
There is a big difference with that. I don’t believe that the State’s Attorneys released anything to do with Baez’s motion. I’d assume they meant to keep them back as a courtesy until the decision about the video of Casey’s reaction could be made. From what I understand, the video of Casey in the clinic has no audio. Nor does any video of Casey with Baez have any.

Baez really needs to focus on the case and his own problems, rather than filing a motion every time he turns around. He tends to forget that he is in a state that has what they call, The Sunshine Law. I’ve noticed long ago that when the case isn’t going his way, he runs to motions. He’s not ready for a case at this magnitude what so ever.

…the prosecution did nothing wrong by releasing them. It was the “video” that Hoser filed the motion for. Completely different then the audio. Besides, we already got the transcripts of the interview, so I really don’t see why people are making such a big deal of it. I say bravo to the state! (NO MISTAKE MADE)

It wouldn’t surprise me if the video get’s released. #1 it’s a sunshine law state, #2 everyone knows that video is everywhere in jail. Even I knew that and I’ve never been in jail. #3 she never had a reaction with any other possibilities except this one. But, of course, this is just my opinion.
If the dream team does get removed and she has to get a public defender, it wouldn’t surprise me if the public defender told her what reality really is in her case.
Another issue that hasn’t been raised here is that the female (can’t recall her name and too lazy to look it up) clearly stated that Casey was listening to her transistor radio when she went to fetch her to the clinic. She indicated that Casey had already heard the news and had no reaction at that time. She didn’t have any reaction until she was in the clinic waiting-room area. Then, with other people around, she went into panic-attack mode.

Front page of National Enquirer has s story about Caseys shoes having Caylee’s dna on them. Sorry have not read it yet, but a pair of Casey’s shoes were also in the car, in a paper bag, and so were a pair of caylee’s shoes. Lets pray that the state has more solid evidence, as we do not want this case to turn out like OJ’s. We do not want Casey to walk. And please who ever bought that lot, please turn it into a Caylee memorial, so that the Anthony’s will never forget what their daughter did. Good Show today

I think Casey really did react to that news and it was because she ‘never expected Caylee’s body to wash up from the grave she put her in’. Then she tried to cover up by talking about football. It wasn’t that she was upset that they found her baby dead, it was that they discovered what she thought she hid so well! She already knew Caylee was dead, so no reaction about that.

Oh the depo. I have not watched all of it yet. I think I can on wftv.com, but for some reason, I can’t make myself do it. What I have seen is horrid! She (and Geo., but esp. Cindy), came in angry and defient….and left more angry and more defient. They have lost total control and their lawyer is at a loss as to how get them to conduct themselves. They’re only hurting their cause, that being Casey, which is O.K. by me!! I wonder if a judge will make them come back and answer the questions they refused to answer? I hope so. They think they can ‘rule’ the procedings! They need to be put in their place. Jail would be a nice place for them!!!!

To be honest if I were in their shoes don’t know what I would do, but I think I would (since the love the media so much) inform the media, ok I lost my grand daughter but still love my demon seed and don’t want to lose her, I will be as honest as can with the law, but I will try to support my daughter…..they have not done that they continue to lie….I think most of us would understand love for a daughter, jail visits, $ in her account, but stop the lies. noone beieves them not even the Ants.

Sindee of course was dressed in shamrock green with a pin – the message of course was for Casey – “I’m 100% behind you! I too will lie and steal and cheat and cover up evidence to set you free!” (Just like that disgusting advertisement for the CMA Foundation that they dared call a Memorial for Caylee – the one in church)

I’ve been thinking about what the heck is wrong with the justice system. It clearly needs an overhaul.
I’m thinking that it should be changed to suit the crime. For instance, if someone is caught on video, or there are eye witnesses, or the defendant refuses to cooperate, these people should be considered GUILTY until proven innocent. This would eliminate all the wasted nonsense and money on trying to give a fair trial to those who USE the system to dodge paying for the crime they DID commit.
No more criminals being treated to defense teams working hard to find loop-holes to save a guilty client.
The “innocent until proven guilty” should be used in cases where it is entirely unclear who committed the crime.
In Casey Anthony’s situation, the onus should be on the defense to prove she is innocent. It is clear that she is lying and misleading and stalling and that should change the rules for a waste of time like her.
Using both systems might help reduce the number of re-offenders from getting off and it might encourage less BS in lengthy court battles.

Grammy. Yes the whole justice system needs an overhaul. As does the constitution and charter of rights. Some of those laws and policies are over a 100 years old. Even as recently as teens sending nude pictures on net or cel phones being labeled as sex offenders or child pornography crimes. Ridiculous.
Yeah I find that ridiculous sure those kids need a punishment for such crude behavior but to make them sex offenders…hardly.

I singed the petition the other day and I was just trying to see if perhaps we could come up with some solutions to a system that is failing us as a whole. There are too many crimes, too many innocent victims and not enough sensible solutions to these problems that frustrate us so.
It wouldn’t hurt to give this some thought. It’s a powerful topic on a day when there is no news.
And it sure beats another day of hurling insults. That just seems counterproductive if we truly wish to see some changes made.

I think the silly antics distract from the seriousness of our desire to see change made. People read these forums, and though they may not comment or join in, they might be willing to join this battle. The other type of battle seen here yesterday may run off good people with the same mind set.

She didn’t have to pay this nanny and also made her look big in her friends eyes that she had a nanny! Also would explain why no one ever saw this nanny! There is no excuse good enough for them waiting 31 days to start looking for caylee except they never thought casey would kill her! They still don’t want to except it who would! Papa- I agree sadly my best friend’s cousin is a sex offender and he is a bit older than us. She never told anyone that he molested her when she was younger for fear etc. as a lot of kids do. He finally got busted for 3 other kids and he is not in jail right now. He got out after 5 years. SICK and wrong. Needless to say I told her family if they even think of having him over when I am there with my kid I will leave. His mother thinks he is going to change but he won’t.. you can tell.

HVAC stands for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
The girls here at my office are contacting the Orange County Building Department to see if any permits for this type of work was pulled for the Anthony residence. Its possible work was done without a permit, so I don’t know for sure but we’re checking.
That will totally narrow down the unlikely~hood that anyone else committed this crime!

George, Cindy Anthony To Appear On Oprah

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — George and Cindy Anthony will sit down with Oprah for their first interview together since Caylee’s remains were found.
Oprah will question them about the investigation into Caylee’s death. Caylee’s mother, Casey, is charged with her murder and has been in jail since October.
The Oprah Winfrey Show has not given an exact date for when the show will air, but said it will happen in May. You’ll be able to see it on WFTV Channel 9 when it airs.

Capy – the judge does not have to be there to find the ants in contempt. He just has to see/hear what they did – like refuse to answer a question. I wish one of them had walked out because that really would have been contempt – no question.

Cain responded to the call.The sheriff’s department announced its intent to fire Cain on Friday over the way he handled tips about the wooded area called in by Roy Kronk, the man who eventually located Caylee’s remains.
“I showed him the stuffed animals and he just kind of grabbed and looked at it. He ended up throwing it back into the woods,” Williams said.

“You think about it and you think, ‘Why not?’ Why not put a little more effort into it?” Williams said.
Local 6 News reported that Williams could be a key witness for the defense. Williams was in the woods five times and never found Caylee’s body.
“Man I was close,” Williams said. “I was so close to finding this girl. It hit me like a dagger, but then the more I thought about it then I actually went out there. I said, ‘You know, I did walk around there. I was in that area and I don’t believe I saw a bag there.’”
Williams is referencing the bag in which Caylee’s remains were later found.

The laundry cart that was pictured in the Anthony home looked like an industrial laundry cart and not the typical cart purchased at your local retail store. They way I understand it, the one that Caylee was wrapped up in came from the home and the one that was pictured was a mate. If these are industrial carts they should have numbers on them that can be traced to where they came from. Hosptials etc. use these types of laundry bag and carts.
I think M buried Caylee but not very deep and that the body floated up when the water was there.

Meanwhile, the latest legal maneuver of the attorney for Casey Anthony, Jose Baez, may reveal where he plans to go with his client’s defense.
Baez is asking a judge to let him subpoena cell phone records from a dozen people — and some of the names on the list are surprising.
Casey Anthony’s own family — George, Cindy and Lee Anthony — are on the list that Baez submitted to Judge Stan Strickland. Several of Casey Anthony’s friends and Roy Kronk are also on the list.
Kronk is the meter reader who found the remains of Caylee Anthony in a wooded area off of Suburban Drive last December.
A criminal defense lawyer WESH 2 News spoke with said Baez can use these phone records to find out who Kronk spoke with and whether he told those people the same things he told investigators about what he saw and when.
“The state puts on their case first; suddenly all these things that seemed so incriminating, you lose focus when the defense is raising issues that affect the credibility of the prosecution,” criminal defense attorney Richard Hornsby said.

I think when they do get the Death P. they spend on an average of 10 years on death row while awaiting Appeals. I think I read that. So “IT” wmight be about 38 by the time the Trial gets finished, (2 years?) and maybe IT will spend 13 years with all her Appeals? After all, she is FAMOUS and SPECIAL. I remember some things from my ex lawyer husband.
Wonder how arrogant G and C are feeling today? They have to know they must have SO MUCH evidence against her to do this now.
This might enable them to only get tough Jurors? I do hope so!!! Only those who BELIEVE in the D.P. accepted? I think so.
m2c….absolutely they can come back with lessor charges unless the prosecution only gives the one charge of first degree murder with circumstances as an option, which is almost never done. Usually they have the option to also consider second degree murder as well.
Immediately before the jury goes back to begin deliberation, the judge will give the jury the parameters of what they can consider.
The penalty phase of the trial comes after a vote to convict. Testimony will be given to the jury as to the circumstances to consider to decide the penalty.
