This morning as I am going through the news as I do every morning I came across this story from FOX news, and the video in question. Is it a joke? Are they trying to be funny? If so then their idea of humour is a far cry from mine. As Canadians wait the arrival of 4 more soldiers bringing our total loss over 110 killed in Afghanistan we are listening to the vile insults from our southern neighbour and supposed allie.
The latest soldiers killed in duty are from the Canadian forces base in Petawawa, a mere 2 hours drive from the Nations Capital. I have in fact lived there and have been to the base. I can tell you from first hand experience there is no soldiers anywhere that work harder, or take this more seriously. This is unacceptable. FOX NEWS and Greg Gutfield owe Canada an apology. Yes our Mounties wear red, that is their dress uniform. Do they think we just have horses and no cars? Yes it is frigid up here in the Winter, and northern Canada is very cold all the time. I doubt those pussies from FOX news could stand an hour up here, before crying to mommy to let them go home.
I have been to the United States many times, and actually have lived there for about a year during my stint in the music industry. I have always thought of Americans as our friends. I hope that most of them will be as outraged as I am when seeing this filth. I have a suspicion that their ratings are in the toilet and that has prompted this desperate attempt to attract viewers, hoping that this garbage will appeal to the less intelligent people of the population. I truly hope that our southern friends rise up and condemn this video, and boycott FOX news until an apology is offered. I know I will be encouraging that very thing here. Good day to you, eh.

As a Canadian whose brother was in the US Navy during the Vietnam crisis, and helped you people out by volunterring for your forces. He had gained his green card status, but on completion of his service left the USA, never to return even for a visit. That is what he thought of the American way of life. Better to live here in the cold windy wilds of Canada where we will be the the respected ones when your self styled (Roman Empire) will come to a crash. Nothing out of the mouth of the US media about their military might is believable. US troops have a long history of running away in battle when Canadians stay and hold on. Happened in Italy and Korea when the strutting peacocks festooned with equipment cast it aside and ran away. The Battle of Kapyong saw US forces running away as quickly as they could and smaller forces of Canadians and Australians saving the road to Seoul.

As a Canadian I was very disgusted by comments made about our Canadian soldiers who are putting their lives at risk. If they thought they were being funny it was not!!! It is insulting and being ignorant about our soldiers. Since the Afghan war started to this date we have lost 116 soldiers by IEDs. The Canadian soldiers are trying to give the Afghan people the freedom to make choices on how their country should be run.
Tonight, on our local TV news they showed the families who had lost their loved ones. So please think twice before you make a comment such as that.

As a Canadian Military wife I was really not that surprised to hear Americans talk like that. The majority of Americans are uneducated and ignorant to the world around them, especially the Canadians.

As most of you know by now Greg Gutfield has written apology for the remarks made on the Red Eye program. The apology was written and not on the offending show. Just as most news media do, they print or air the show and if an apology is made it is either buried in the back of the paper or written instead of on the air. Typical. No we did not <misunderstand your comments Greg, we just did not like them.
As the mother of a Canadian soldier and another son in the process of enlisting, I have got to say that I am disgusted with this type of American “comendy”. Perhaps Mr. Gutfield should read newspapers, listen to real news networks, get some true information. Firstly, the only reason America is the most powerful country “in the univerise”, is because they have bullied their way into that position over decades. America is just one of dozens of countries with troops fighting AND DYING in Afghanastan. The joke about our Royal Canadian Mounted Police - not worth response. Mr. Gutfield and anyone like him, should realize that when you treat your closest ally and neighbour with disrespect it WILL eventually come back to haunt you…maybe at a time when you need our Canadian troops the most. There have been many times, when American actions have caused me to wish we could just cut along the border and let then float off into the south seas. Mr. Gutfields appology is weak and worthless. To have the nerve to PRETEND that he didn’t mean to disrespect Canadians???? Then what DID you MEAN to do???? Mr. Gutfield was obviously never raised to respect others, because if he had, his brain would never go to the dark and evil places it goes…all in the name of ratings. Not Funny!!!!
I am disappointed with such an empty apology from Greg Gutfield (host of Fox’s Red Eye), his words were forced and there seems to be no remorse in his script. He obviously made his announcemnt out of necessity to keep his employment. I choose never to view the video, and his lack of research shows he is unqualified to host or make comments in a public domain. Anyone on the street can make jokes to continue stereotypes, but more is expected of personalities in press/media. I urge all that are disgusted with his remarks to contact his advertisers and hit him where it hurts…in his pay cheque. Enough said - we must learn to ignore the ignorant.

I for one am very shocked and dissapointed in our allies from the south. I, as a canadian soldier have lost friends over in Afghanistan. If these people had actually done their research properly they would know that we Canadians are over there for them. They asked us to help them, other wise we would have minded our own buisness. But as Canadians, we are loyal to our allies and decided that we should help. Then these people decide to mock us?? Do they not appreciate our help?? WHat in gods name is wrong withh them? Our men and our woman have left the safety of their homes to help fight alongside what I once thought was one of our best, and loyal allies. And if they end up drawing the short end of the stick, then maybe next time they will think twice about insulting their most trusted allies. Not only did we respond without second thought after 9/11, we sent help to Louisiana after Katrina, and arrived there even before the ineptitude of the American emergency services overseen by Bush. That’s dedication. We spend our time not only hunting terrorists, we actually help people in real need. Think of all those UN missions the Americans are so irate about. It’s Canada that puts boots on the ground usually before anyone else. One of our former PM’s was presented a Nobel Peace Prize just for that ideal of service by the military in keeping the peace, not simply hunting down the enemy.
We are all upset by the ignorance of these people. I also have family that have been to Afghanistan risking a Canadian life to help support the American’s. In a few words these men have disrespected the Canadian Military and all the people of Canada in general. They have also brought disrespect to their own Country. There are many American people who today hang their heads in shame because of a few ingorant people. Unfortunatly a few bad apples can spoil the bunch. The problem is that these are the type of people that get into the media and spotlight and can and will say what they want whenever they want.
There was NO apology….if there had have been a real apology it would have made things a little easier as we have to “forgive Dumb animals”. We have to remember to not stoop to their level in our responses as that makes us no better than they are. All 40 million of us remember our soldiers and keep them in our prayers each day for a safe return and thank those who have given their lives to support not only the Canadian people but the American people. Mr. Gutfield I do not know if you have any children but can you imagine their dissapointment in you when they read accounts of what you have done. Why not try and correct this with a true apology for your actions.

Brought a tear to my eye. I get your point, and normally would agree with you. But not when we are bringing home bodies of our soldiers fighting a war side by side the people insulting us. Have you ever heard a Canadian talk like that about American troops on National TV? I doubt it. Sometimes you just have to stand up for your Country. And I, like a lot of people, think this is one of those times.
I find this entire story quite ridiculous. Yes, the jokes made by the host of the Fox show were in very bad taste, and I can understand the anger of many people in the Canadian military community, but I have one question to pose to the people visiting this site and reading the comments: do you honestly think that we would be so outraged if these comments were coming from a comedian in France? In Belgium? In the United Kingdom? I’ve travelled all over the world and have seen many “satirical” comedy skits portraying Canada or examples of Canadiana in a negative light. We don’t care about these comments simply because they aren’t made by Americans. Why is it that we so desperately seek approval and appreciation from Americans? Nicolas Sarkozy once said that Canada was a great and beautiful nation. We didn’t care. Obama said something similar, and I swear, I was waiting for CBC to take a video of it and create a promo that would air nationwide 20 times a day! This is an example of our deep-seated inferiority complex vis à vis our southern neighbours. Do you want to know why so many Americans poke fun at us? It’s simple: we lack so much national pride (as a whole; there are a few proud Canadians out there)that being Canadian is seen as being a joke by some. I’ve seen many Canadians who over-pronounce their “out’s” and “about’s” when around other Americans, who stick in the “u’s” in harbour and colour” when writing things that Americans might read, but who never do this at home. We are so desperate to remain “distinct” in a country that has no real appreciation of anything that is our own. We watch American films, we eat up American TV, we tend to know more about the U.S. than we do about our own country. Is it a big surprise that many people south of the border make fun of us? It saddens me to watch this. I know it is the opinion of morons and completely inaccurate but still I am saddened that there are people out there who can see something like that as humour. I live in a military town, my kids go to school with, play with and have sleep overs with kids who parents are serving overseas and I see and hear how much they sacrifice everyday. I also have family members who are currently in Afghanistan and every time I hear of a loss I hold my breath and say a quick prayer it is not anyone I know all the while knowing that the lost soldier is as special to someone as the people I hope are not on the list. Your comments and those of your “commentators” were not only an insult to
the men and women of the Canadian armed forces but also demonstrate once
again the appalling arrogance and ignorance of Americans such as yourself.
Let’s take a quick look at American military prowess as seen from a
non-American standpoint.
Invade Canada because they have no army? You tried that back in 1812 and got
your American butts kicked. The only significant battle that US forces won
in that war was the Battle of New Orleans which was actually fought several

battle, your Old Hickory (was that a reference to his head) depended on the

and then sent only a token force most of whom saw no action before the
spring of 1918. Canada, by contrast put 10% of its entire population in
uniform and these men were invariably given the most difficult objectives
which they always achieved, unfortunately with the loss of a full 10% of its
force - that’s killed, not just wounded. And who were your great heroes?
Eddie Rickenbacher who managed to shoot down a total of 26 enemy aircraft in
about the same amount of time that the Canadian ace, Billy Bishop, shot down
72. Where did your guys learn to fly? Then there was that hillbilly hick
from Bear Creek Hollow, Tennessee named Alvin York. What the hell kind of
name is that for a soldier? Alvin’s a bloody chipmunk’s name! Am I being

historians, other than Americans, as a tougher objective than Utah or even
Omaha Beaches? Why don’t you American know that the Canadian Division was
held back from entering Rome on June 6, 1944 so that Georgie Patton’s ego
could be satisfied, his ego and propensity for slapping Privates being his
two most outstanding leadership qualities. Are you bozos laughing now?
“But we Americans won the War in the Pacific,” I hear you saying. Yes,
after the Australians and Chindits showed you how to defeat the Japanese at
jungle warfare.
Unfortunately, those lessons in jungle warfare seemed to have been forgotten
by the time you got to Vietnam where about the only things American troops
did were drugs and young Vietnamese women. Isn’t this just hilarious?
And now you’re going to send an additional 17,000 troops to Afghanistan
where, given your extremely limited success in Iraq (another war you don’t
seem to be capable of winning), it’s just possible that the Canadian and
other lesser UN forces there may feel they would be better off without. You
Americans are just a laugh a minute! No wonder the rest of the world loves
you so much!

As a Canadian, I find your lame duck apology for your despicable comments on Canada ’s military to be totally inadequate. Perhaps you and your ignorant, redneck audience would find the following to be just as humorous should you care to share it with them, which I don’t imagine you will.

You took the words from almost all Canadians. I am a Canadian living abroad and when I saw that clip of Fox News insulting our Army and Country I simply went nuts!!! Who do these people (Fox News Red eye Crew) get off insulting Canada. I am in the Aviation Industry and we have had a joint operation mission with the U.S Army, Now something that the Fox News viewers and the majority of the American people don’t know is that when the U.S Army goes into civilian areas they (the majority of the ones witnessed) tear off their American flag patch which is located on their shoulder and put a Canadian Flag patch Yes a “Canadian Flag Patch” on to feel safe !!!!….now what does that tell you about the U.S Army I can imagine all the laughs and jokes to come out on that subject, but the Canadians and the Canadian News Media would never stoop so low to humiliate the American Army……….The only thing the U.S has are toys take that away from them you have a bunch of cry babies. In my opinion where they want war or who they want to invade let them go alone. The world has seen too much violence and wars, what we need are peace makers not peace breakers. The U.S should be blessed and they should be great full to be our neighbors not the other way around.

I served over in Iraq for a grand total of 27 months, and yet people hate me as an american.
Maybe we should deal less with trying to believe one country is better than that other, and focus more on the fact we all need to work together or fall apart.
