So what happened this week?
Well illustrious defense lawyer managed to eat up more tax payer dollars with some pretty frivolous court antics. Apparently he felt that the defense team was being short changed in the discovery process because the prosecution had not included the technicians bench notes from some of their lab work. The judge nixed a court order, instead, telling Baez to just ask the FBI for the notes and they would be happy to supply them.
The judge did however grant Baez’s request to not release George Anthony’s suicide note, claiming that it had no material bearing on the case.
Baez also grilled Deputy Richard Cain who investigated the tip from meter reader Roy Kronk on Aug. 13, 2008. This deposition lasted 3 hours! One can only guess as to what nonsense areas the councilor got into.
Expert witness Dr. Henry lee is making claims that he found an additional 17 hair samples in the trunk of the vehicle, this seems a somewhat dubious claim. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
In the Haleigh Cummings case the ‘low spot’ of the week has to be veteran Fox sleaze Geraldo Rivera. Ronald Cummings is saying that the whole ‘man in black’ story could well be an invention of either Geraldo or the girls mother Crystal.
Misty and Ronald decided to tie the knot, this was likely not the smartest move on their part. This has created a PR disaster for them.

I know why Orlando LE budget is so bad and why there isn’t enough officers to get stuff done.
Channel 9 has learned that Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary has more captains on the force than the biggest sheriff’s office in the country. He already gets the largest single chunk of Orange County’s budget, but says he needs more cash to hire more deputies and local taxpayers would foot the bill.

Beary says he wants another $16 million from county taxpayers, even if it means a tax hike.
Critics say he has a lot of nerve making that request, considering how top-heavy his department is. Beary says he needs more county money to put another 29 patrol officers in cars and on the road. But if he hadn’t promoted 11 more captains than the country’s largest sheriff’s office has, he’d already have enough money to hire those 29 officers.
Channel 9 did some checking with sheriff’s departments around the state, comparing the number of captains in Orange County with the number in Pinellas, Hillsborough and Broward counties.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is the smallest, with 1,900 employees. Broward is the largest in the country, with more than 6,000 employees. Orange County had more captains (31 total) than all three other departments; 18 more than Pinellas (13 captains), 20 more than Hillsborough (11 captains), and 11 more than Broward (20 captains).
Captains in Orange County start at $71,000 a year, up to $90,000 a year. Captains earn more than what two deputies earn. If Beary’s staff of captains was in line with Broward’s, hiring another 29 deputies at $30,000 would cost about the same pay as just 11 extra captains. The money he’d save on the promotions could pay for his 29 new deputies
The average homeowner pays more than $300 a year for sheriff’s services now.
Lately, Beary has had his public information officers answer many of the tough questions being asked about some of his decisions. Friday, no one from the department would say why Beary needed so many more highly paid captains than his colleagues across the state.

The days of “sources said” in the Casey Anthony case may be numbered.
Orange County sheriff’s personnel are being told, firmly, to stop leaks to the media.
“We not going to lose cases because of loose lips,” Sheriff Jerry Demings said Friday about what he’s telling deputy sheriffs, investigators and supervisors. “If it’s active criminal information, don’t get caught leaking. If you get caught, it’s going to get treated seriously.”
The edict comes after months of intense competition by local and national media for scoops in the murder investigation of 2-year-old Caylee Anthony.

Around-the-clock coverage has been driven by anonymous law-enforcement sources and lawyers talking off the record, as well as psychics, bounty hunters and Internet sleuths claiming to have inside information about the child’s death.
Anthony’s lawyer, Jose Baez, has complained that the leaks are unfair and prejudicial to his defense.
Most recently, WESH-Channel 2 disclosed the contents of a jail surveillance video of Anthony on its 11p.m. broadcast Tuesday. In Wednesday’s edition, the Orlando Sentinel reported a similar account of the video and how Anthony and her laywer Baez cried together on the day Caylee’s remains were found.
Both accounts were based on anonymous sources.
Speaking to the Sentinel on Friday, Demings would not identify specific leaks in the Anthony investigation. But he said he had never seen a similar flow of active criminal information reported publicly during his 21-year career at the Orlando Police Department, where he rose to police chief, or the years he spent later as county director of public safety.
“It hurts the image of the agency if we compromise active criminal investigations,” Demings said. “It’s something we can control.”
National fascination with Caylee’s death is partly to blame.
“Don’t be naive,” Demings tells his staff. “We have reporters using and doing everything they can to get the story.”
Demings’ vigilance became known last week when the agency’s Homicide Unit served a search warrant in the murder of Nicole Ganguzza, a college student killed last summer along a trail in east Orange County.
Supervisors would not release any information, saying they did want to see a repeat of leaks that plagued the Anthony case.
The new scrutiny is one indication of how Demings is putting his imprint on Central Florida’s largest law-enforcement agency. He took office in January, replacing former Sheriff Kevin Beary, who retired after 16 years in office.
Many in the agency have blamed leaks in the Anthony case on Beary’s loss of control.

More than two years after Anna Nicole Smith died from a lethal cocktail of prescription drugs, authorities have filed the first criminal charges – targeting her former attorney and boyfriend, Howard K. Stern.
Stern, 40, a fixture at Smith’s side for years who once claimed to be the father of her daughter Dannielynn, has been formally charged with conspiring to furnish drugs to Smith prior to her death, prosecutors said Thursday.
He was arrested and booked by police in Whittier, Calif., with bail set for $20,000, police records show.
Also charged with felonies were two doctors, Sandeep Kapoor, 40, and Khristine Eroshevich, 61, who allegedly prescribed medication unlawfully to Smith, according to the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office.
Kapoor also was arrested and booked in Whittier. A warrant was issued for Eroshevich’s arrest.
The conspiracy counts allege the three defendants conspired to provide controlled substances to Smith from between June 2004 and January 2007. They also were charged with “prescribing, administering or dispensing a controlled substance to an addict,” among other charges.
Smith, the former Playboy model who starred in the reality series The Anna Nicole Show, died at age 39 in February 2007 of an accidental overdose of a combination of prescription drugs. Her death came just months after her 20-year-old son Daniel also died of a lethal combination of drugs

Yeah and I have told people that I didn’t care to much for Orange County LE an part of the reason is because some of it is corrupt because of Kevin Beary. When I lived in that area he wa and the stories back then were bad and there are plenty more articles about his wrongdoings especially with trying to make the taxpayers pay for all the things they should. I am glad he’s gone maybe the new Sherrif can make sure this case doesn’t end up a mistrial. I feel alot more confident about Casey’s conviction now.

Pickles, that is good news. You as a future nurse, and most people with common sense would not give anyone a battalion of drugs. I drove our pharmacist crazy with questions. Can I crush these pills (because mom can’t swallow large pills), is this new prescription compatible with the other drugs.

Doesn’t seem to me that the new sherrif actually said there are leaks coming from the dept. He said there is an unprecedented amount of information flowing to the media.
However, it certainly seems strange to me that Jose is so quick to file the emergency motions concerning these leaks. For instance, the video with him crying. That story did not surface in the media until after Jose made the motion…so it seems that only Jose has that info. All the other info that has been leaked was only leaked after Jose got it. It all goes to him a few days before it hits the media. He has all the evidence dumps days before we do.
So, I think Jose is the leak.

Who was in the jail directly after that incident and got a first hand account of what happened directly from M? Jose
Who would have knowledge that there are cameras in the area where M had her breakdown? Jose

Here is another point:
Jose is claiming that there were leaks about the Body Farm and other investigation stuff from the sheriff’s office.
Jose is claiming there are leaks from the jail.
These are two fairly separated organizations that interact with each other and are all overseen by the sheriff, but are not the same. This means Jose is claiming that there are multiple leaks, at least one from the jail and one from the sheriff. Leaks from individuals that must be directly related to the case.
Or all the leaks could be one guy who gets all this info…Jose.

Leaks are not publicly released information from the state and that is not what Jose is saying. He is saying that prior to the information being made public through the legal Florida system.
The videos have never been released. No information from the state has ever been released about the videos. The state has said that videos from the time periods Jose is talking about do exist, but they have never made comment about what is on those tapes. The state has no plans to use those tapes in the trial. There were never plans to release those tapes.
And the state does not “release” evidence. It puts the evidence on file with the county clerk. Such information is the property of the people of the State of Florida. People can make a request to see it and then because they do own that info, they can. That is not a “release”. The state does not hold a press conference. The state does not go on morning shows to tell what it has.
And what about the tape that Hoover leaked of the other PI? That had nothing to do with the state. In fact, both of those guys are linked back to Jose.

Plus…The State get all documents first, reviews them and then they are available for the defense. Hoser knows full well what is there for his review. He has chose to delay viewing and or picking up these documents to stall them from going into discovery. So just because he can claim he hasn’t seen them, he very well knows whats there, hence a perfect way to leak information so he can cry unfair, unfair. He really is working this case like a scum-ball.

In that article, there is no admission at all by OCSO that any leaks from the sheriff’s office have taken place. The sheriff is saying there won’t be any in future.
And please do not use the word “integrity” as a slam against LE unless you use the words, scum, criminal, etc against the ants and the Hose squad – all of them. There is just no comparison on a moral or ethical scale between LE and the ants/Hose. The ants/Hose lose hands down.

He often looks puzzled when he’s on Nancy Grace. I don’t think he understands the questions she asks…maybe she talks to fast or chooses phrases he is unfamiliar with..who knows…but I think he is qualified and would provide better answers if he was given more time. Maybe he should be given a written copy of the questions he will be asked before the show.
Also instead of using money from the budget to hire new officers he used it to promote people to Captain which the salary of a Captain could be used to hire atleast 2 officers. And there is more.

No, the clerk can only release what has been filed as evidence for the trial. These videos are not part of the evidence and the prosecution has no plans to use them as such. In fact, the prosecution stated they were not even aware of such videos as they don’t care cause they can’t use them.

The only reasons these “leaks” have come up at all is to allow Jose an excuse to make motions and to blame the media for M’s poor public image.
On the jail vid of M’s reaction to the body, Jose did know exactly what was on the tape regardless of if he had viewed it. He interviewed M moments later and certainly has access to any medical records which would show what she was given. Does anyone think that M did not take the opportunity to dramatically relate to Jose all that had happened? Jose knows the taped area…so he knew what her reaction was and he knew there was a tape.
Jose also knew the tape could never be used in court and would never be asked for by the prosecution. So, he leaks the info of the tape to the press to show the public M has feelings and was devastated by the news her girl was dead. It seems like a slam dunk to him because he also gets to make a motion to suppress it, which means TV time and more billable hours. And he knows the judgment will go his way cause the prosecution doesn’t want it anyway. But, he was too stupid to realize the press would put the timeline together and know she freaked before the body was identified.
Heart..I pray to God she is not the next Lizzie Borden. Lizzie was acquitted and never found guilty of her crimes. I pray this is not the case with CMA.

Spacely, I agree with your earlier post. Many of the so called “leaks” were spelled out in greater detail by defense team during their complaints than the stories were ever covered originally. Sort of a backwards way of making sure the stories got mainstream MEDIA attention really imo. Like BB was saying, “THIS STORY HERE ABOUT THIS VIDEO WHERE CASEY DOUBLED OVER ON THE NEWS OF THE BODY BEING DISCOVERED!!!!” WELL, WE THINK IT MIGHT HURT OUR CASE!! Making sure everyone heard it.

Grammy, I missed your post from yesterday. I find I can’t even allow myself to imagine what Caylee’s last moments were like. The two of them alone, M’s voice saying horrific things. Makes me cringe and hope what can be imagined is not what it was for that little one.

M wasn’t the LE prositute w/ a book of official names, if she was she’d be dead not Caylee, if that was their motive. Same goes for Dr. Lee finding 17 more hairs. Who cares, doesn’t change the fact that the one found was Caylees & these 17 r likely hers also. Caylee is still dead, the facts don’t change.
Our legal system needs revamped, Defense Att’s aren’t in place to twist & distort facts, they are there to protect the rights of the one accused, thats it.
Caylee’s last moments…..make me sick to my stomach with horror there is not a scary movie or story that I cant think of that makes me feel this way….her last moments in the arms of the ONE person who was supposed to love and cherish her were filled with pain and terror and horror….I just hope it was qwik and that she died instantly.

I’ve said this before and I will go to my grave saying that the Ants. and the “scheme” team KNOW that Casey killed Caylee and have since her first bail out when she was on house arrest. The’ve known it for months and months. The only thing the defense has to do is create reasonalble doubt. Baez talks in riddles to try to confuse everyone therefore hoping for the doubt to surface with the jurors. It’s their job but I don’t like the tactics they use.
I just think Caylee’s memory is starting to fade with all the shenanigans going on. Bothers me that not one person in the peanut gallery is there for her. At least that I know of. LE is the only voice she has and I thank God for them. If I lived in Orlando, I swear I would try to make every stupid court appearance just to show support for Caylee. I would have a pin made just for me that would say “Justice for Caylee”.. And I would buy a doll just like the one that Caylee loved and hold it on my lap for all to see and know I was there for her and just for her.

To everyone on here, I too think you all have good posts and want to make sure none of you are offended if I did not respond to something. Thats my point about the defense. If the legal system doesn’t reform procedures why bother saving the planet/air/water for our kids? They’re going to be left in a world filled w/ evil people who can afford or was afforded high powered atty’s to get them off whatever they did. My aunt died and was buried in Port Arthur Texas. The funeral was in June. And a very hot June. She was placed in a mauselium. There were probably 100 vaults in the building. No doors in the front or back of the mauselium. I couldn’t stay in there for the internment. The rotting small of bodies was overwhelming. An embalmed body will stay fine for about 5-6 yrs. before it decomposes. There was a lot of decomposing bodies in the open air building. Even behind concrete/marble vaults, the stench seeps out. It was beyond sickning. And yes, it is a smell you NEVER forget. It was 14 yrs. ago and when I think of it, in my mind I can still smell it. Like no other smell you have ever smelled.
A body that is not embalmed starts to decompose within 24 hrs. I can imagine how Kcee’s car smelled. I bet it still smells. Anybody who tells you it’s a smell that stays with you the rest of your life is correct.
Good that Kcee didn’t know that. I guess she thought she had time. Thank God time was not on her side.

I can’t even SEE the physical ants anymore. I am so full of contempt for their actions! I was just like Sean. I thought Cindy was the voice of reason, pulling back G, etc. Trying to act civilized. Then I listened to her nutty statements, the maggots on the pizza, the car in the “lot”, and thought … WHAAAAT?
To play around in a MURDER case? Hide evidence? Destroy it? Lie? Furnish incorrect things when they KNOW what the FBI specifically asked for and wanted? To interfere with JUSTICE? FELONS??

AND they align themselves with their own peers, low class, ignorant, FRUADS, Cons – KID FINDERS and almost everyone else on their “TEAM”.
Water always seeks it’s own level. Just like CMA dumped Jessie, and found herself her new shallow phony crowd! People can ACT, but only for so long … … they can’t keep their ACT up forever! They revert to WHO they are. M must have been very popular in school too. So popular, she had to quit and didn’t know who the father was.
I was wondering … do those “Party People” go out *every night* to those Clubs? That would have been horrendous on Caylee. How could IT – with NO MONEY – pay for sitters when her parents couldn’t mind Caylee 24/7? Imagine when IT would bring that horrible smell near that baby’s face … over and over. Surely there must have been a ritual, a pattern. The fear … the body panic! I know, I have asthma.
Heart – this all sounds like a horror movie. Hard to believe it’s true and probably worse than we even know.
Pickles – you know in movies where children are sexually abused a child psychologist will take them in a room and gently get information with play-acting and dolls.
Setting aside abuse charges for now – do you think they have ever had a child psychologist question Jr. about the man in black? It would also be good to ask him if Misty was in the room or even at home. The only time I remember him talking about man in black, Crystal was there coaching him. LE certainly doesn’t have any leaks – so we don’t know these things.
Does anyone remember during one jail visit early on, Gee announced that when all this is over, they (the family) was going to get into the missing children business. Make it their lifes work. Kcee said yeah, that’s a good idea. That would be a good thing that we as a family could do for others in this situation. Uh huh, Kcee would be working “in the family” business searching for missing children.
Can you imagine her even saying that…knowing what she has done??

I watched Geraldo at Large tonight. Dr. Perper was on and so was Dr. Baden. Dr. Baden actually said that there was chloroform found in Caylee’s hair.
I hadn’t heard that before, though we have suspected it. I wonder if this was a slip on his part? He mentioned it rather casually and then moved on…
Did I miss the release of toxicology reports this week?

That’s probably why they brought in this expert “accident” lawyer…to somehow show that the last time Casey chloroformed Caylee it was a miscalculation and an accident!
How much more evidence does the prosecution need for a jury to find her guilty???? Short of finding a photo of her committing the crime, it looks like they have more than enough proof that she killed her own child.

I hope someone can find the show and listen to it. It was about the Anna Nicole Smith case and they were discussing the toxicolgy. Dr. Perper was asked about doing hair strand tests. Shortly after Dr. Baden stated that hair stand test were important for testing drug use, as they had been in determining the chloroform found in Caylee’s hair.
Wow thats a pretty serious slip if its not supposed to be put out yet. I hope he doesn’t get in trouble

Morning everyone! There is an interesting article on orlandosentinel.com about “Florida laws open book on Casey Anthony’s life” Today is Sunshine Sunday, the day designated by the Florida Society of News Editors to raise public awareness of the importance of open government in the state.
The article talks about the Sunshine law which is the reason so much info has been obtained by the media. It could only happen in Florida> If this murder had happened in any other state we would not know near what we do about this investigation. And with a case like this it’s being used to the fullest by the media.

Wonder of the Love Birds (yeah, right) will return from their honeymoon in NY and get down to business finding little Haleigh. So many theorys being tossed around. A lot of them sound very believable. This is hardly a clear cut case like Caylees.
Hope we got some bombshell news this week on both cases. Guess I’m not a very patient person these days.

Good morning all! There was an interesting slip made by Dr.baden last night on Geraldo’s show. The show was about Anna Nicole Smith and Geraldo was berating Dr.Perper for not doing a test for drugs in her hair for several months before she died. He said it was not necessary at the time. Then Geraldo asked Baden whether this would have been necessary to do and he said it would have shown drugs in her system just like it showed chloroform in Caylee’s hair. I do not think that this fact has ever been published yet, so I found this really interesting.
baden went on to say that 6″ of hair will show a year’s worth of growth.
