I guess I thought it was normal behavior because I was committed to the marriage. After 30 years, I left him. Took me several years in counseling to get my head fairly straight. I have spent five years in court trying to divorce him. It is not that he doesn't want a divorce. It is that he doesn't feel he owes me a nickel and the judge has slapped in the face (basically) and I got a decent order from the judge. But the ex continues to fight on. Oh well, some day I will be divorced. I have had so many ups and downs that I finally got to a place where I just said "it will happen when it happens". So I don't stress over getting the divorce or my settlement. I am just happy to be away from him and have freedom to do as I please. I had no idea that my husband was controlling.
