Pursuant to my first comment, the Washington Post and Talkers magazine have now confirmed that Limbaugh’s audience has soared from 14.5 million to 25 million since this Democratic plan was hatched. Industry experts admit that not all these new listeners will stick, but many will, and others will start listening to other “talkers”, 95% of which are right wing. These experts expect talk radio – which has declined in the last decade – may be given a new life because of Obama’s attach on Limbaugh.

Most of these new listeners are independents and “Regean Democrats” who voted for Obama. And if Obama thinks he has lots of voters he can lose – he should think again. His victory was not overwelming. It appeared large because of huge popular vote margins in California, Illinois, New York and the Northeast. However, his victory in formerly red states was by extremely small margins. In fact, if only 500,000 voters were strategically switched from Obama to McCain in the formerly red states of Indiana, North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, Ohio, Colorado and Iowa, McCain would have won the elecoral college with 276 votes – albeit still losing the popular vote by a considerable margin.

I would bet that these new Rush listeners are coming from those formerly red states and are very susceptible to changing their votes back to Republicans.

First the White House takes shots at Limbaugh, then the DNC runs anti-Limbaugh ads (even some in Spanish), then the press drills every GOP official about Limbaugh, then the left-leaning press takes the worst reactions and tries to create a false crisis out of it… wherever could such a strategy have sprung from?

Obama mentor Saul Alinsky’s handbook Rules for Radicals outlines the techniques used by this administration to try and break any link between Rush Limbaugh’s influence and the GOP- it’s basically a divide-and-conquer approach:

Rule 5: Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It’s hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.

Rule 11: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it. Don’t try to attack abstract corporations or bureaucracies. Identify a responsible individual. Ignore attempts to shift or spread the blame.

According to Alinsky, the main job of the organizer is to bait an opponent into reacting. “The enemy properly goaded and guided in his reaction will be your major strength.”

Now that we all know what the underhanded control-freak Obama is up to, conservatives, Limbaugh, and the GOP would be well-advised to ignore these malicious hypocrites, and don’t take the bait. Note that Wall St. didn’t go for these diversionary stunts one bit, they’re focused like a hawk on his ongoing demolition of the country.

The narcissist Obama looks desperate and insecure going after Rush, so just let him go down with his ill-advised policies, shouldn’t take long now-

Thank you for taking time to read and comment, I voted for Obama and agree with the majority of his positions, however thirty some percent of Americans are unsure if he is on the right course, Town Hall formats seem a good forum to have the leaders of opposing ideologies debate and discuss the issues.

At present republicans are out of power so Mr. Limbaugh’s standing is relevant in the sense he is viewed as the de facto leader of the GOP

Mr. Limbaugh is of the opinion he would draw voters to his side and as a rank and file democrat I feel the out come would help democrats.

Dear PS Burton,
When you say ” doubtless many Americans are still undecided about which path our Nation should follow”….did you forget that the American electorate has decided forcefully that they want Obama to lead them? There was an election back in November, remember? Obama took 18 months on the campaign trail to explain his policies (though less time to explain how he would clean up George Bush’s mess, since it came on so late) and Americans voted for those views. And don’t forget that when Bush was in the White House and it was his turn to bail out the economy, that wasn’t “socialism” it was helping save America, according to those same Republicans who are now, mysteriously, suddenly opposed to helping save America.
As far as debating Rush (and using the English Parliament as comparison) you are missing the point. No American has ever voted for Rush Limbaugh for anything–if he ran he might garner 11%-12% of the vote, according to various polls. So what standing does he have to debate the guy who won the Presidential election? Can any big fat idiot with a radio show debate the President? Or just the one with the loudest voice and the biggest pill habit?

The Democrats may have outsmarted themselves. Many people who dislike Limbaugh have never listened to him. Now that the Democrats have created this food fight, these same people will tune in to hear his response. After listening for a while, they may start to agree with him.

No elected Republican has the ability to be heard “unfiltered” by every American 3 hours a day 5 days a week like Limbaugh. Even Obama does not have this kind of “unfiltered” access to the American people.

So in a years time when unemployment is 12%; houses continue to be foreclosed; the Dow is below 5,000; banks continue to fail; pension plans start to reduce pensions by 25%; and’ inflation is soaring as the US dollar collapses; the Democrats will have ensured that the “new leader” of the Republican party will have 15 hours a week of “unfilterd” air time to bash them – just ahead of the 2010 mid-term elections.

Yeah, thats real smart Emanuel, Carville and Bagala!
