Good post. As I do not know politics all that well, I would like to say that my comments are directed at fighting the war. Although politics cannot be avoided, I do tend to ignore them as much as possible because politics and warfare do not mix very well.

I have noticed that no incidents of attacks have been mentioned that have occured AFTER 9/11. I suspect that this is because our invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq forced our enemy to deploy a lot of resources into kicking us out of those areas. As can be seen, the terrorist army does not match up well against our army. They do much better against shopping malls and schools. The point here is that open warfare against our enemies is much harder on them than it is on us.

I respectfully disagree with the comment that our military is 'fatigued'. Maybe the peacetime military is stretched, attempting to fight a very small war on a peace time budget. This can be dealt with by increasing our defense budget. We do not have a draft. We are not on a wartime footing by any stretch. A major problem is that the issues that are the root cause of the war in the first place are so basic that like the issue of slavery, they have no political solution. This war will eventually become much, much larger than it is today. It is only a matter of time.
