Court documents show Haleigh’s mother, Crystal Sheffield, is behind in child support by about $4,100.

A motion was filed by the state’s Department of Revenue on Ronald Cummings’ behalf against Sheffield for contempt. It was dated February 3rd, a week before Haleigh disappeared.

A hearing was set for Sheffield for March 27.

Ronald Cummings, Haleigh’s father, told first Coast News he received a copy of the document about the hearing the day before Haleigh vanished. Cummings appeared frustrated about the timing of the document’s arrival and his daughter’s disappearance.

February 16th, the state signed a dismissal document which cancelled the child support contempt of court hearing until Haleigh is found.

I was rereading last nights post with DAK. I have a few comments.
1. When you are ‘into’ drugs.. you will do ANYTHING for that next
fix. And yes, that could include harming the people you say you
love.
2. If you are ‘hanging out’ with drug addits..you are no better than
they are.. sorry.
3. Yes, your past tells EVERYTHING about who you are.. I do agree
people can change.. but REPEAT offenders are REPEAT offenders

If they are indeed innocent, it will be proven that way.
Maybe this is a good case of staying clean is the way to go….
I realize everyone makes mistakes. But sometimes you just
CAN NOT afford to screw up…

is there news coming out today? I know I fell asleep last night when NG was on LOL
my girl has been gone and its so quiet here and well, got home blobbed on the couch and fell asleep.

I’m always late getting into these convos but on the credit issue, I just have to say I have no idea why a persons credit history should come into play on getting a job!!! Its personal, its seperate from a persons track record on working, and doing a good job,(reliable, good employee, has alot to offer a company, knows the job)… I feel if a person makes a credit mistake , their already punished bigtime for many opp, for doing stuff, and so for employment opportunties to be lost well, its simply not fair. I mean cause your bad with your own money, doesn’t mean you can’t work??? I think that whole concept of checking a person’s credit is BS now criminal record YES.. ok i said my say

Seriously tho, I would love to hear some good news for a change. I just found out yesterday that my unmarried 22yr daughter is having another baby. Alli is 2 1/2. This isn’t good.. she has had some bad probs lately and is living back home with her dad. (the father of this new baby is a 4 time felon for drug charges) GEE, just when you think you got it all figured out, they change the rules…

But we will survive..

I agree with your viewpoint on ‘credit history is not always what it appears to be, because of extinuating circumstances’. It’s not fair to judge ones ability to perform a job with no understanding of what has lead that low credit standing. I can relate to your situation.

God bless you! You are a strong woman and I pray that everyday brings you strengh to continue on your road to perservier (sp?) and to succeed!

You are entitled to your practice of not hiring those whom you deem un-creditworthy for employment.
Your choice to hire or not should be based on so much more. To me it seems to be somewhat discriminatory. I suppose that all prospective employees have signed a credit report release when applying for jobs with you/your company.

I do not agree with such blanket statements as:
“Those that have high debt or a poor repayment history are the most likely to steal from their employer or sell off private info”.

In some cases the fault does not lie with the individual, and you appear to follow a process that makes no inquiry as to the cause. Because most states do not allow for discrimination of this sort…unless the job position related to the handling of cash, or finances. Because of this I would bet the reason for not hiring those you have not found a satisfactory credit history on is never given as a reason for the applicant not being hired.

What bothers me is your classification of those with bad credit history as problems. I personally have very bad credit…because I had to abandon my life and all that I owned in order to survive. My husband threatened to kill me. He killed all my animals, destroyed all that I owned, and in the process of having to hide from him and go ‘underground’ I was homeless and unable to pay my bills. As an act of vengeance he even let our home go to foreclosure.

I am still struggling to recover. I am no longer homeless. I am however, now disabled mentally by the crippling fear and the abuse I suffered mentally over the last few years. My husband had a stroke and no longer hunts for me. He can no longer remember me. I am alive.

But based on your view of my credit history I am unworthy of being considered for any employment. I am likely to be a thief, or at the very least a bad employee. So, despite my struggle to recover my life, or the fact that I have NEVER stolen from anyone, and I have always been a wonderful employee (although now there is a 5 year gap in my employment history)…according to your employment practices I will not be employable. How sad.

I have always held my jobs for 10 + years and been very successful in my career. I never had a single bad performance review, or problem at work.
I have been in managerial positions, and understand the expenses of hiring, and training, and legal liability for those employees.

Seems it is indeed a catch 22 and a struggle to recover my life. I can only hope that there are still jobs out there where employees are actually interviewed and hired without a credit reference.
